Hey guys,

This is my first time posting here but i have owned a vaporgenie for 3 years.
I have been using the same lighter for about 1-2 years refilling it when it was out of gas :)
So normally i always used newport extra purified butane gas (near zero impurities).
Now at my local store they replaced those cans with "Atomic universal lighter - refill".

I cant seem to find any information/msds about it but on the can itself it does state some ingredients:
Butane - 66%
Isobutane - 2%
Propane - 32%

UN 1950 and under it is a label that says "High quality gas, ultra clean"
Also when i looked up the can i did get a picture with the near zero impurities label,
however on the can i recently bought it has been removed and probably replaced with
the high quality gas, ultra clean label.
I did the mirror test and there seems to be no visible difference between the two.

what do u guys think?
Throw it away or keep it?

Ps. sorry for the long text, and asking a question right away at the first post.
Take your time, im not in a hurry at all, i will test the taste for myself and report back!

Peace

If ur wanting to do a run with it to make bho it may require a push into heady new waters.... only experimentation can tell some times... if ur just asking if its ok for ur vaporgenie I say use it as long as it lacks the rotten egg smell.

Thanks for the quik reply farscaper :)
I want to use it for the vaporgenie yes, and my newport butane probably has about 10 lighter refills
left so i will switch between the two brands of butane and let u guys know.
I hope there will be no such thing as rotten egg smell :leaf:!

The egg smell is from mercaptan that some companies put in their fuel to allow easy leak detection. If its a refined fuel for say lighter refils, its probably NOT laced with them.... cause who would wantva Sulphur cigar?

There's such a good selection of Vector on Amazon, with very good prices (depending on how much you want to buy), that I don't see much point in looking elsewhere. I certainly haven't seen any bargains in any local brick and mortar stores. Be sure you're looking at the 320ml size-that's the best buy by far.

A few more newer brands to add:

Colibri premium
Spark 7x
Hitman 7x
Whip it premium* 400ml can

I have used them all and had better results with those than with the infamous Newport . There isn't an MSDS available for each specific brand but all are sure to have no sulfur.

Colibri premium is the same as Newport (canned by Keens) it has the 22% propane. The other three extract even lighter colors than Newport which leads me to believe that there might be higher propane content? If anybody can find an MSDS for Hitman, Spark, or Whip-it that has the can contents with percentage that'd be rad.

Blaaaaah
Keen does manufacture Newport, Colibri, Iolite, Lucienne, ect.. but that does not mean they are all the same product. They will each have their own balance of Butane, Iso-Butane, and Propane. Judging by greywolf's test, they are not equally "clean" either.

Still, I'm a fan of Keen and will keep buying Lucienne until everyone catches on and it starts to cost as much as the other "good" tanes.

There isn't an MSDS available for each specific brand but all are sure to have no sulfur.

Here are some MSDS for Keen manufactured 'tane.

Here is Lucienne's(you have to register ) https://www.icmag.com/ic/showpost.php?p=5763118&postcount=19

Here is Newport's http://www.tokecity.com/forums/show...5a5a0f8208b0&p=1245978&viewfull=1#post1245978

and also, Colibri's http://www.gcelectronics.com/order/msds/224.pdf

If anybody can find an MSDS for Hitman, Spark, or Whip-it that has the can contents with percentage that'd be rad.

Here's Hitman. I have heard that it's just private label Vector. http://instagram.com/p/kkQooOhWuz/

Hey guys,

The can of Atomic universal lighter refill doesn't seem to smell like rotten eggs.
When i spray some on the mirror i see some traces, and not all of its gone after 10 minutes.
With the Newport can it's the same however.

I think it's clean enough after vaping with it a couple of times, don't notice the difference with Newport so far.

I am who I am and your approval isn't needed!
^ guess thats another I wont use then... newport & vector did the same on the mirror test (for me). Only one I've found so far that doesnt leave a residue (scrap-able) has been the colibri silver cans zero impurity label.

Recieved order from Capital today. It actually works very well in the Honest torch I got with the Lotus. Very consistent burn. When using tge typical fasfil 5x about galf way through a fill the flame would become less consistent. After filling it with Capital there has been no change in flame consistency.

Q. What does that mean?

A. Simply, it means they are being forthright in that this is pure N-butane.

There are no mixed gasses to conflict in the storage compartment. Do you some times forget to shake your torch before use? Well if using a more mixed gas for fuel this can mean that you start with a robust flame and end with a stinky flicker. And that does not shit for a decent size nail.

But now to try it out... for ... other purposes.

It's been on the market. Good to see more competition. Capitalbutane http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/a...y-for-doing-your-runs.4929/page-2#post-527681

I'm sure it has a small percentage of ISO-Butane just like the Capital brand. Personally, I found the best results using a mixed gas of butane and propane.
Im curious why you like the inclusion of propane. Is it due to the polarity properties? I actually really like the product ivd been getting with the capital butane...

I've been reading this thread, Greywolf's post, icmag threads etc. I still feel no closer to feeling confident as to which mass market butane is safest. I still have a bunch of Vector cans, is it worth seeking out Colibri? some other brand?

Capital's website lists a LHS near me as a dealer, so I will be picking some up this week. I was thinking of doing a side-by-side test with the same bud (Capital vs. Power5x)I have been using Power5x with very good results. Capital seems to contain more per can, so the higher price won't be much of an issue.

Please do. I didnt feel the need to run a comparison between fasfil which A. Is the only locally avaliable brand B. Id made in Korea. Against the Capital because 1 run convinced me that A. Its of better quality becuase the product was better B. Capital is a US product. The price point in bulk for me was minimal. I paid 20 bucks or something for a 3 can sampler. Not bad concidering its 6 bucks for the fasfil per can.

The power5x is made in Korea. I have used zippo brand ( sold at local grocery at very reasonable price) in a pinch. It also says made n USA. Very interested to see if I can tell the difference in end product between n-butane and the mixed gas( Power5x).

I havnt had issues with buttering at all and I noticed that the capital was lighter in color. Golden as opposed to amber color. Also compared to Lucerne? Spelling? Which used to give a nire amber brown color. But that may be more related to other things like the strains im running now as compaired to then..

My data is really just opinion seeing as I have not compiled hard data on the subject. Someone mentioned they like a propane mixed in. I just like not having any chlorophyll in my shatter. Which is why im into Capital at the moment. Anxious to hear ur results indeed!

I agree about the chlorophyll. Lately almost all of my runs eventually butter (some right away, some several days later). but maybe because of slightly too high purge temp. Or I guess it could be the 'Tane? Humidity? Strain? Too many variables.

Sorry to double post.

Got the Capital Butane from the LHS today. What an experience. I haven't been in one of those for years.
They had everything on their website in store. It was overwhelming. $13,000 torch rig? They had 2. A customer called and made an offer on BOTH.

Anyway, I digress, I wall do a run later and post results.
