Herb Grinders

...not sure there's a bad choice...this is very subjective..I do not believe that there's a hell of a lot of difference in the finished product between them....other factors should influence your decision more...i.e. which one is cheaper...

I have to agree with the subjective part, though I am a noob. Im happy with my Cali Crusher off amazon. If I want it finer I flip it upside down for a few extra twists. Its smooth and does the job I need it to. Havent used enough it long enough for much to be in the keif catcher but once I have a enough I will scrape it out and see what effect it has sprinkled over a bowl.

Evidently you don't like piranha! From a cursory search on the interwebs, yours is the only negative review I can find for piranha grinders, except for one guy that had a defective one (didn't mention any metal shavings), and was amazed at their customer service; he was reportedly more than satisfied after he received his replacement unit. Have you considered that your piranha may be defective? If you contact them they may send you a replacement without the defects but if you don't you'll never know. At the very least you could sell the replacement new if you get something else in the meantime, or use it as a backup.

It's business, not personal ;) I was kinda okay with it, but never thrilled. I became less satisfied when I saw people grind up some my herbs and they came out fluffy and fine. The final straw was when there were metal shavings. I doubt that I can get a replacement because I've perhaps used it too much. Anyway, I've lost faith in the product.

I need to make a choice today because I'm already beginning to feel unwell from my radiation. I'm going to get the SCS. I think I'm gonna go with the large 4 piece SCS. If anyone with experience on using it would like to share any, I'd be very grateful.

The 4 piece may be more grinder than you seek.
It does separate the kief from your meds, but is that what you want?
Weaker flower material, so you can consume it's stronger element separately?
If you like the idea, then the 4 piece is for you.
I have the 4 piece but I do not use it.
My preference for convenience, care, and result has been two piece.

I've held all the sizes of SCSs but only used the mini with herb, They say larger grinders are easier to turn, when filled my SCS mini is far easier to grind in comparison to my medium MM, albeit the mulcher does not have grips and actually angles in at the corners. But I've also used SC, DG (Diamond Grinder), and other grinders and I find the SCS to be less resistant. All of those grinders were bigger medium or large.

But I do feel this could also have something to do with hand size, I don't think I could go larger than a small. But my ideal grinder size is 2.25 inches max. How much herb are you planning on grinding all at once, or your usage of it?

I normally just take the pollen catcher off and use it as a 3 piece. I really dislike trying to find a location to put my herb after its ground in the 2 piece.

...I believe vitolo has "hit nail on head"....what do you wish to accomplish...for me , yeah I like that later I can have this kief, composed of many different strains at some later point to "top off" my flowers...others may not feel the same way...decide which is best for you...

Well my cheaper Aerospaced 4-piece is in the garbage... noticed the screen was coming out this morning, but had to toss it out when I noticed a few metal shavings in my herb.

Time for something that will stand up to heavier use. I like the 4-piece design, as I intend to use my kief for a potent tincture.

Unless there is something much better out there, I am going to get a SCS in large.

I have a large 2 piece SCS. Works great for me and you can control grind fineness easily. Also a lot cheaper than a 4 piece.

I'm so sorry it took me this long to write you back. I've started my treatment has started and it makes me tired. I went with the SCS. It's perfect. It is much better than my Pirana which is had so many places for the herbs to get caught in. The results from the grind are fluffy and perfect for my vape.

Excellent to hear NY!
I ended up ordering one off Amazon the other night, a 4-piece Large, and am really excited for it to get here. What vapes are you using?

I usually keep two containers of pre-grind. One fine grind for my S&B Plenty, and a courser grind for my Lotus.

Question:
-
How often do you all clean your grinders?

I disassemble my 4-piece and throw all the parts in ISO, then run through hot water. I do not have much issues with sticking and not being able to turn. But the keif screen gets clogged over time.

I am glad to hear that (that the grinder worked out not about starting treatment)! Now lets talk about maintaining that smooth glide when you turn your grinder...

I find this product helps a lot in preventing build up of resin as well as to help lubricate things to keep everything spinning freely. Plus one stick should last almost forever. Ive had mine for half a year and ive barely put a dent in the thing.

Also yes the occasional iso soak is also a good idea.

Oh last thing... for extra grip if needed you can stretch one of those "live strong" (or "WWJD" or "I love boobies" or whatever else) rubber bracelet things around the top half. Increases grip by quite a bit.

When they get so gunked up that they stop working properly... twice a year maybe.

A small brush (like a MFLB brush) will help keep the kief screen clean.

Beat you to it! I've always used it.

What do you use to get pieces stuck in the teeth? How about the errant pollen?

I use one of the brushes from my S&B Plenty; the only problem with using brushes is that it will occasionally flick debris out of your container.

I too use a small brush and a small vape pick.

I also have found that if I grind smaller amounts of bud at one time my grinders stay much cleaner and don't bind up or need thorough cleaning very often.

I have been in contact with Santa Cruz shredder.i asked if they are going to make a jumbo with the RX medical logo on it in the future.

They quickly responded and said they are making some in the next two months, keep checking back..I'm really happy with their customer service

Sorry if this is kind of off topic(everyone's talking about brushes)

I have one (not the jumbo) with the RX etching on it. I like it! I welcome your comments on it!

I own a small and medium spacecase,so I'm looking for a jumbo santa cruze shredder for a table grinder.

I'm gonna wait to get one marked for medical use....I know there's no differnce between the other models SCS offers, but I'm picky like that...lol

I don't want to get into trouble, so I wanted to ask in advance: I have a promo code from the Santa Cruz Shredder. Can I put here without repercussions?
