I just can't say enough good things about my FF. I regressed back to using It without the basket and it actually prefer that.

I've been able to get 2-2.5 bowls off a battery and become VERY medicated.

So glad I go the extra charger and battery though. It makes the difference.

One thing I noticed is with the FF Indicas give me more of a head high and sativas give me a body high.
Seems strange but I'm not complaining.

Anybody thinking of making a WTA for it? I had 2 concept ideas:

Replacing the port window w/ a GonG so you can attach it to a downstem and seal the regular air path or adding some kind of GonG to the actual mouthpiece (maybe with a magnet?)

The mouthpiece is mounted with screws. It would be easy to replace with a different one, if you had one made. But some flexible tubing of the right size can also fit over the existing one to provide an extension/whip.

To some of us getting into our gear is part of the fun. I find the FF excellent overall. There's perhaps a design decision you may or may not agree with, and that's to give you vapor and not borderline-smoke.

I recently have been revisiting various concentrates, and I'm coming to the sad conclusion that they're unusable. Am I alone? It could be simply a commercial reality, that they use the least attractive parts of the plant, but all of the waxes I tried tasted like industrial waste. Then I tried 2 pre-filled O-Pen-Vape (510 compatible) cartridges. I was hopeful. They taste like burning plastic - and that's when they're wicking correctly! I'd have to be truly desperate, I shudder at the thought of inhaling that again. One old-timer put it well to the butane boys, he said "congratulations, you have made crack". Not so off-topic. I can't tell you how glad I am to have my FireFly to vape tasty buds!

@WildChild I think you'll like your replacement. All it took on mine was to reposition the coil a little. Granted, it takes a moment to get going, but way less than the time to heat up most other vaporizers.

On the subject of cleaning, I'm finding it better to leave some "crap" on the lid porthole. It serves as a particle filter when vaping ground buds. No real need to keep cleaning it anyway.
Honestly, I'll be ignoring my replacement.

Totally over-hyped in my opinion. You end up with uneven ABV that still has lots in it. I'm all for taste quality and smooth vapor (although I like harsh vapor too) but not at the expense of efficiency. Hate having to finish off my session with another vape to get to the rest of the goodies.

No temperature sensors? Janky viewing port seals? Crappy battery? For $270?! Really?

Although I don't always respect their reviews, Toronto Vaporizer does a realistic one that does't get side-tracked by "how cool this thing looks!".

Just to say that this unit isn't for everyone.

Toronto vaporizer did not sell the firefly, review would have been different if it was part of their lineup!!! Why they didn't talk about the smell of the ascent while on use, because it's part of their lineup. Review made by shop that sale vaporizer worth nothing to me!

Completely agree with you. First FF dead within a week. Replacement FF inconsistent temperature. Next replacement will be gifted to someone else. Not giving them a third strike.

i dont follow toronto vaporizer, but couldnt it be possible that they tried the FF didnt like it, hence the bad review, and decided they did not want to carry it in their lineup?

I was thinking more along the line of a whole new GonG lid actually as my preferred. Having it come straight out of the port hole will allow for less cooling and more direct air path. Plus you can look down on the vents to see it light up when heating.
I could use some hose but to be honest that kinda Ghetto With such a stylish vape.

Very good point.

My review stands, though.

Keep in mind my cera LL runs like GARBAGE maybe a bowl from a brand new battery if I'm lucky. You love yours. There are clearly variables in both good and bad companies. I think thermovape is a good company, but my cera LL is shitty, and when sent back they didn't even touch it, just mailed it back to me as is...

At least in this case they are giving you a replacement unit or fixing it. Once I get my firefly I'll be sending my cera out to be repaired (hopefully they actually even make an effort this time) and then likely selling it unless it absolutely blows me away.

Sorry you are not having as much fun with your firefly as the rest of us.
The patients here in my area that have gotten to try it are crazy about it.
There are other "very good points".
I won't waste my breath here.. your mind is made up.
We all hope you like your next vape better...... see you in another thread!

Well, more important that a patient gets what they need than me. Happy it makes their lives better. :)

Thanks, @Vitolo...I have 4 other vapes that I think are great. Nice to have choices.

Perhaps we will interact in another thread where we both agree with the other. Could happen. Lol

All the best to the patients.

Did you try the replacement unit?
I did indeed. A little more effective than my 1st one.

Honestly, I know my gripes are not shared by many. Too many people believe this to be a great vape for my complaints to be credible to others.

I'll end my experience with FF wishing the company and loyal customers many continued amazing experiences with their FFs. It's all about what makes you happy. :)

And hats off to their customer service which was some of the best I ever encountered.

Nice WildChild, it is true that no vape will fill everyones needs and I am glad your other ones will work for you. I am sorry that the FF is not your go to vape as it is for me. But you have done your due dilligence and tried your very best to see if it would fit your needs. Maybe they will have adjustable temperature on the FF2 and you will come back!

Out of curiosity, does your replacement unit get the material dark brown now? I wanted to know if it was indeed a heat problem.

I totally respect how hard you tried to make the FF work for you, WildChild, and feel bad it isn't something you love. You did your best, and while I think a replacement that runs hotter would fix your key issues (give you darker ABV, obviate the need for a finishing vape...as I've said, the FF gets all but the last hit or so for me, which is as good as any other portable vape that isn't destroying my material via too hot conduction will do) I get that you are ready to move on.

I will say, however, that once again I'm underwhelmed by the weak analytical skills of the Toronto Vape folks. That review is not helpful, IMO. Their big issues were cost (OK, fair), battery life (also fair), not as long a warranty as their precious Pax (whatever), weight/size (don't agree...I have no trouble pocketing it etc), no "temp control" (which obscures the fact that on-demand heat is the ultimate control) and they even said "heat will destroy the magnets over time", something they are just guessing at and have no real idea if that would happen. All this after admitting that, yes, it has superior vapor flavor, density, and quality over other portables. (Jesus Tapdancing Christ, what else would you judge a vape on? The quality of the vapor is ALL, for me. Or most anyway. :D)

A user who has tried to love the FF and doesn't...I have a ton of respect for that opinion. A retail website that seems to have a personal beef with a unit or manufacturer and practically makes stuff up to bitch about...not so much.

Good luck in future vaping endeavors WildChild.

In retrospect, I wish I hadn't pointed out the lame TV review...they are pretty useless. Apologies. And thank you for the support.... @hoyo77 as well.

@Raskin666
About 1\2 tan and 1\2 medium brown by the time I give up trying to milk more. I finish it off in my Solo or EQ. Maybe my replacement still isn't hot enough. Or my technique is STILL not good enough. Just wasn't a relaxing or satisfying experience for me. Such is life. May be the user, not the FF. :)

Well you tried and the thing i respect most is you were not negative. there is no such thing as a perfect vape and no vape works for everyone. Thats just my opinion. The FF for me is pretty close to perfect..hope they have a longer mouthpiece and bigger bowl in FF2.

I am having difficulty understanding the problem here.

The FF home page clearly states this vape is designed to only run up to 400 degrees F. How dark do you expect that ABV to be? If you want a vape that extracts at very high temps, I don't understand purchasing the FF in the first place.

I think your ABV sounds pretty close to mine. Anything post-FF that I put in my Ascent at 430F gives me "body stuff" only - no "head stuff." I wouldn't want my FF to run any hotter than that. And my ABV is about as even as it gets.

What did I miss here?

I also don't think the batteries are "crappy." They give off enormous power and at this point in time, I can't imagine battery life being much better. In fact, I'm wildly impressed by how long they do last, considering the strain they're under. It's certainly not a vape you'd be taking off the grid, but for the ability to use an electric portable convection vape of this luxury, I'll take the shorter battery life.

My port seals are fine. In fact, everything about my FF is perfect. I know a few people have had some gasket issues but I don't understand how it's that big of a deal, I guess, other than annoyance at sending it back. For a first-time vaporizer company, I'd say they're doing damn well on this rollout.

And considering the price of the Cera, Ascent, Pax, Indica, etc... I'd say the price is fair for the FF. Expensive, but fair for the quality of the product.

And honestly, I don't find myself "sidetracked" by how cool this thing looks.

The only time I've been "sidetracked" by a vape's looks is the first time I saw the Cera. ;) I'll admit, I would never buy one simply because of the way it looks. I guess I haven't reached that level of enlightenment yet.

But I would agree the FF is not for everyone.

Pay no mind to those voices in my head
Spent the weekend in Vegas and won enough to purchase a FF. Ordered it direct from the mfg last night. Waiting excitedly for my tracking email.

Thanks to all the fine / experienced vapers on FC for helping me with choices.

There is no problem for you to understand. It was a discussion between me and a couple of other members. So glad you agree some of us get to dislike it.

I was under the impression I could get the temperature higher with multiple button presses. I was misinformed.

And some of us like the body stuff. But thank you for your opinion.
