I was able to pick up a new M1D2 from Vapor Nation for $139 using their price match policy. It wouldn't let me do it on the webpage, but I called and they matched it. I just referenced the price at allstarvape.com

Having a back up Solo gives me piece of mind. There's not so much wear and tear on one unit.

I'm also trying to treat my new Solo's battery so it will last a long time. My older model Solo, I kept it topped off and on the charge all the time. The battery isn't as good as when I bought it last July. I probably get about 4 sessions off my battery. I have the electrical adapter where you can use the older model Solo while plugged in.

The Solo may not be as stealth as some models, but you get much better flavor. Plus you get a well built product.:)

My Solo is my desk top vape, so it gets used a lot.

I know the #113 "O" ring that users add, keeps a grip on its' own but I wonder how much the success of this method has to do with keeping that black ring in place and so also keeping things snug. The larger holes allow things to work the way it was really intended rusulting in huge clouds even at level 5.

While I can't speak for others of course, probably being the most to blame for this let me relate what I found in my testing that led to the #113 Silicone rings now in common use: Once the original seal is stretched out too far to grip well it's stretched out too far to grip well. The ring is a whole other thing.

Notice how the stem is tight again before the cover is solidly down? That's a clue. You can also shave the ring down thinner and thinner (stick it to some tape and then sand it off) until it's so loose it slips out of place when the stem is pulled out and it still grips fine.

Earlier on I was working with a different size that had a slightly bigger ID and depended I think on more compression, I abandoned it because it was too 'fiddly'.

Another useful test is to note that removing the ring makes the stem loose again, the original seal is still too big to grip well.

And again, I don't think gripping well was a design goal, I seriously doubt you'll convince them to replace your Solo because the stem is loose now?

BTW, I also messed with a series of wire springs (usually held by the mounting screws below). They could be made to work (you tip the stem a bit to get it in expanding the spring), but the ring is much simpler, IMO works better, is easier to use, cheaper and doesn't usually need a tool or fitting.......all pluses IMO.

I agree, nothing like a solid backup to keep Murphy at bay. A second unit adds a lot of confidence to enjoy using the primary one.

I know that declining battery thing, I just went through it with my older one. It gets loaded out a lot, sees lots of use, and I suspect is compulsively charged despite my directions. I test mine with no stem, top open, step 7, in still air. With a full charge 8 sessions seems typical. More to the point, when in 'mid range' (only part of the LEDs for battery state lit) 'one LED per session' is a pretty good rule IMO. Before I replaced the battery pack I'd get two LEDs per session drop, sometimes even 3. Half the original?

"By the book" when it's down to half capacity your battery is on it's last legs. IIRC something like 10% of the total sessions remaining? Time to keep it for the PA and think about new batteries I think......

Then again, by the time my Solo had killed it's original battery it vaped a LOT of bud for a lot of folks. No complaints, I got my money's worth for sure.

Well maybe it wasn't a design goal but it's a glaring flaw in my mind. Not many.. but that's one.

It's things like this that make it very hard to be "portable" .. there are others better for portable use. My Solo is just used inside.

Dooooood! Where'd you get that sweet ass mouthpiece on your PVHES? It's real nice :D
I know what I do is not the preferred way most people like.
However a small mouth piece works easier for me. I never got the hang of big bong mouth pieces.
I take a Stock or PHVES clean into the local smoke shop with a fitted OMICRON TIP on the end.
I go through the shops pile of CHILLUMS until I find one that fits.
Kind of like Cinderella!
$7.00 was the one in the Photo.
$5.00 to $15.00 is average.
The glass tip feels very nice.
Like I said it's not for everyone I'm just picky!

Hello everyone!I have a M1B1, and I am not sure if that is one of the new ones that can heat while charging, if so, how? And if not, which place in the line is it?I have however noticed that it heats up extremely quick (much quicker than what I see on this and other forums) and no matter how hard and long I pull I am not really able to overpower the heater.I really love this thing although I need a home unit to supplement it.

To see if it heats while charging.. plug it in so it is charging, then try heat it up. :)

If the charging light is blinking and the heat light is blinking with it coming up to temp, then you know. I don't have an older model without but i'm assuming it just won't heat up while plugged in (unless using PA) .. someone else can chime in on that.

I believe it's also said that it isn't great for the battery so it's best to use it sparingly. It charges pretty quick so I haven't really needed to use that feature.

So far my "film cannister solution" is working well for me. If the dreaded loose stem happens again I will use the #113 "O" ring approach again. Meanwhile I may sand down my "O" ring(as OF suggests) so that it could be used with the compromised threads on the cap I have now.
Another solution is to use one of the wood stems by ED. They are quite beautiful(makes the Solo look classy)and the diameter(at least on mine) is larger, so it fits with no wiggle. They can even make a short version for stealth or for use with a water tool.

That's right, it is supposed to work that way. However, I just received a M1D2 and it will not allow the PA to run the Solo without charging too. I don't know if my particular unit is defective or is this another design or programing change.

Oh I have definitely been scoping out those stems by Ed. They are always out of stock though!

I don't have a PA myself but I seem to recall other people saying that with some newer models the PA was doing that as well, it doesn't bypass the battery, it charges and heats like the normal charger it comes with right?

I had not heard of any users besides myself that found that to be the case. Has anyone else had that happen to them or is this problem unique.

The M1B's are batches released between M1A's and M1C's .
There were a few posts of M1B's heating up too quickly and
needed to be sent back for corrective calibrations . You shouldn't
have to ' Overpower ' the heater . imo . Currently , the Solo with the PA is my home unit . ( But the Sublimator will change that ) .

That's right, it is supposed to work that way. However, I just received a M1D2 and it will not allow the PA to run the Solo without charging too. I don't know if my particular unit is defective or is this another design or programing change.

It has been reported , Not all M1C's or M1D's have the pass
thru duo function . But it seems the M1E's have the pass thru ,
so far...

I get your opinion, and to some extent agree with it, but sadly Arizer didn't ask for my opinion or advice either. Their show, they make the rules, take the risk and hope to have a winner product.

To be objective about it I think we'd have to agree that over all they seem to have done a bang up job? This thread didn't end up kissing up on a thousand pages by filling them with problems like so many other vapes seem to be so able to do........

However, I just received a M1D2 and it will not allow the PA to run the Solo without charging too. I don't know if my particular unit is defective or is this another design or programing change.
Unfortunately the evidence is starting to lean that way.
Here is the 2nd report by @NoName ....
:disgust:

I agree, this seems to be the unfortunate answer. The new version uses uses only part of the available power to charge just like the smaller 'charger' does (800mA IIRC?). This makes perfect sense since before they no doubt had to go to the trouble of preventing charging until the voltage got over 10.1 Volts or so.

As it sits right now I see no advantage of the PA for this version, and I'm all the more concerned that the new scheme is really a step backwards. But it's what's available new, and 'any Solo is better than no Solo'?

Anyone know a place in the US I can get Solo GonG adapters? PlanetVape says theyre sold out of a lot of models and Id rather not cross the border if I can help it.

We've been through this a lot. It seems to be a PV only product line. AFAIK nobody has reported any other options except a couple of guys having custom ones made up in glass shops. I recall a guy who gave them that joke of an aroma therapy thing and had them use the bottom, punch some holes and fuse a tube on it.

At this point, if I ever get an extra Solo; it would be interesting to be nice to one by charging to just before topping up, after running it down to one light or so. The other could be used with wild abandon, anytime a hit is needed; whether charging or not. A comparison of battery life could be made. If more users did this and report, maybe a pattern would emerge.
As a user of Arizer products EQ and Solo for four years, I feel fortunate to have done my homework and picked two of the most reliable machines one the market. And if your vaporizer happens to fail, the vender or Arizer will take care of the problem. Yes some of us complain about this or that little thing we don't like, but the bottom line is these machines work amazingly well at a very reasonable cost. Enjoy your Solo, it will take you to new heights and it will cut the tether.

You don't need to mess around with sessions extensively; battery lifespan is a pretty easy thing to figure out. Unless you mean to say you have an old Solo and would get the newer M1E1? In either case, @OF made a very good case against why the new "feature" isn't actually good for the battery... think he mentioned it once or twice at length within the last 10-15 pages?

@GenYHippie, yes temperatures play a role in what actives are released, you're looking for CBD and CBN more or less for the sleepy sedating stone.

To any one who know well can you help me I was going to do this when I got my new battery but opened up my solo to day and got thee pics

Basicly I have broken one of the clips that hold the ring under the heater on. What is this ring for? Will not having the clip make my solo die faster ?ATM its working apart from a battery problom

Am I write thinking the ring is just third to protect the wires and stuff from the heat?

Oh you've done it now....
Those clips stabilize absolutely nothing...lol
The belief is they are just there to assist in the assembly process. Once the screws are in place they are there just to confuse folks into thinking their heater is mis-aligned. Don't sweat it.
All is good, except your old battery.

If you use water paths vapor becomes much less harsh with hot/warm water as opposed to cold. Nice warm hydrated vapors, though might still aggravate your throat. YMMV.
