Discontinued The Sublimator

I had originally thought my sublimator was losing wattage, but it `settled`at a new sweet spot after a couple months and has not moved since. I`ve used it as a 24-7 on when I first got it, and switched to only turning it on when I use it later. It can still glow red from putting it on max heat and clean itself, and is pretty reliable for finding temperature. I haven`t cleaned my atomizer in maybe 4 months, and it sees heavy daily use. She drips a drop almost every session. The only maintenance I do on the thing is cleaning the bong and torching the screen once every few days. I use one ultrafine screen on the top shelf.
No vaporizer I`ve hit can compare to the sublimator in quickness of extraction and vapor density and smoothness. The atomizer collects large vapor particles for later smoking that wouldn`t be absorbed, and it truly delivers the best punch to the face, even over my friends cloud. You can truly dump .5 of finely ground material in the sub when its set to a very high temperature and finish it in one yellow thick combustion free hit that leaves you sweating and crying. The biggest downsides are the fact that it is extremely hot and dangerous, I have burned my self and my carpet more than once to say the least, and it takes about 15 minutes to get your temp to a good vapor range. But I won`t part with this sublimator until it stops kicking, and it does not seem like it will stop any time soon. I`m slightly envious of the dabmaster, but still don`t see myself getting a new sublimator until a full titanium atomizer and dabmaster with all hot metal being titanium is available, and even then, I see the difference being minimal.

In my setup, the 1.0 works perfectly. I turn it on and it's ready to go 24/7...no resetting or anything. For that alone, I don't think I would like the new ones. I kinda like the OG'ness of the original, brown cord and all.

The thing just works, and works extremely well. No other vape that I have experienced gives the deep extraction wallop of the Sub. I repeat, in my collection, the Sub is the heaviest hitter in the stable. I'm talking brute force sweat inducing "flower dabs". Not sure who came up with that but it describes a Sub hit spot on.

I heard people talk about using water or not using water with there Sub. I like regular water and have also tried ice and cold water, but I don't think vapor really needs cold or ice water.

Then I went to the other side of that coin and did Hot water, and have even tried very hot water, both of which turned up the flavor.

Lately I been using mine for a lot of dabs with no water..... and I think the flavor with no water is even better. Now when I see dab rigs getting smaller and smaller I wonder if I'm getting less out of my vapor if some is getting stuck on glass or in the water... so earlier I did something..... direct.

I put the sub atty into a clean down stem and then holding the sub and the atty together I turn it upside down with the down stem stem point up at me and I did a dab directly off the end...... wow the flavor and hit were intense........ Really fucking intense like wow.....

It kind of looked like I was turning a gun around and sticking it in my mouth... I've nick named these Sub Suicide hits.......lol

very fucking direct is the way to describe it....

This post inspired me to check, and the Sub fits well in a couple of my J hook style pieces... so I will give the dry, more direct path a shot as well... though I do prefer water conditioned vapor most of the time, for comfort reasons mostly, and I am able to pull huge rips. Thanks for being creative there and posting about it Detonator!

I keep my 1.0 with timer on 24\7. Every 20 hours or so I just reset the override. If you torch the atomizer UFO style it should cut down on heat up time drastically.

Enrico mentioned the vapor needs to expand when exiting the atomizer. Maybe that's why the direct injection is a different rip.

@Willey, Give the upper part of your atomizer a good cleaning. Performance will increase if your atomizer is cleanish. You can leave the lower part of the atomizer unclean so your sublimate production is not reduced.

Recently I have been using my other vapes in conjunction with Apollo. The Sub is so smooth I need something to tear my lungs up a bit.

Still havent done my RMA.

Also, be careful when putting a hot Apollo on an cold atomizer. It will not sit right and will want to fall.

I cleaned out the lower part of my atomizer recently for the first time,
trust me it's not sublimate up there it's more like combustion resin:
hard not gooey, and:puke:

I go back and forth between flowers and sublimate, so it changes from 32/33 to 38/39 watts.
Also I would think anybody dabbing sublimate with the apollo would occasionally turn it up all the way for cleaning/burn-off purposes, as I do.
But if you dab your sublimate elsewhere and only sub flowers, that would indeed make sense because there would be no real need to turn it up past 33 watts or so.

Probably has to do with personal temperature preferences. Someone on the low end won't get the same sublimate as someone on the higher temps I wouldn't think...

Flowers: 34-36, Sublimate: 40-42. I almost never turn it up all the way.

I just jammed a tool way up in the atomizer. The stuff that came out looked like bubble hash, but smelled sort of like shit. I think it the mixture of ABV particles, high heat concentration from the venturi effect make for the nastiness. I also run at about 33.3 watts. Running 2 ultra fine screens. Clean em almost ever 24 hours.

The Sublimator atomizer Is like an an arizer solo stem. There's a little ABV particle mixed with a lot of condensed vapors near the bowl. Heat up the stem and the AbV stays in place while the good stuff drips to the bottom.

I may give maY Give my atomizer a overhaul right now.

Sigh, I am telling you guys... Enrico should be working on a bowl insert. It looks like you can just CNC one and start selling ASAP. The bowl should have a screw able screen and the two screens included should fit the bottom ledge of the atomizer. This would also make it easier for abv to not get clingy on the walls inside during dumping (actually this is why we get particles in the bottom barrel.) I am still not able to find a perfect screen to fit the bottom. Still using my stock screen (just cut it to fit) and find myself cleaning the screens on a daily basis. I'm still using the 7 hole iolite screen for the top.

Or just make the actual stock screens a millimeter or two bigger so they would
sit properly on the ledge, that would be a huge step forward.
I remember reading here that enrico wasn't using them anyways.
And from checking the sublimator.ca site,
they don't even list their stock ss "grilles" anymore,
just a couple of generic-looking screens for a buck each.

Also the 14mm teflon fitting is no longer listed, just the 18mm.
That's too bad because it's easy to use the 14mm fitting in an 18mm hole,
but not so much the converse. Perhaps this will change.

anybody here a way back in the day kind of stoner that at some time was so poor they ran out of weed and had to scrape resin to smoke a bowl and get high? The Sublimate you keep talking about is just Resin....... And if you "know" scraping resin you will know there are several different levels of resin, from the stem , bowl , and they get you high different or taste good or bad depending.......yada yada yada and fuck-it I'm just high and been wanting to say that for a while.....

meh... If I only did flowers my Sublimate might be better taisting and or nicer like yours but I dab a lot so I think I am just making reclaim....

what ever you think the Sublimator is still the best weed thing eva! So yeah ....... carry on

Who didn't smoke that crap in high school? I remember scraping that nastiness out of a bong. Or, what about those stupid chambers that you would put a bud in to get resin on it? Looking back, that was a really good way to ruin a good bud.

Just gave my atomzier a full overhaul. Some nasty shit was in there. There was a lot of hard black resin and a good amount of oxidation under the black stuff. Looks almost like new.

I don't use a water tool. I posted about the rust looking oxidation in a way earlier post about cleaning the atomizer. Enrico mentions oxidation in a dirty atomizer in one the xlr videos. It almost like overbaked resin that's red in color.

The only thing I can think of is putting wet/damp screens after cleaning in could be doing it?

Edit. He calls it calcifications not oxidation.

anyone have some good fixes for a wobble in the atomizer handle? Mines still stable, just moves a bit and makes me nervous with all the heat.
