Firewood Vaporizer

Does anyone here own the 2.0 model? And how do you love it? The Lotus is my favorite home vape, and I'm looking for a portable to replace my walnut MFLB. Torn between this one and the Hammer.

I own both models. 2.0 has wonderful flavor good vapor production and has a easy learning curve. Also battery life is between 6-8 sessions. I havnt tried the hammer but am intrigued by the firefly def worth looking into if $ isn't too big of a problem

I just bought one off of massdrop. Looks great, has anyone messed around with the battery? I really wish he offered a LiPo version, NiMH is long in the tooth and slow to charge.

I decided to jump on the last massdrop for the firewood. How finely ground does herb need to be for the firewood to work well? I have mostly stuck to concentrate vapes in the past but concentrates are getting harder to find around me.

Just received a firefly 2.0 that I bought off the classifieds section here on Saturday. Had one session and I am a believer! Worked much better than my MFLB ever did for me IMO. I don't see it replacing my pax, but I do see me grabbing it if I need a stealth option and my Pax needs a good cleaning at the time. I usually use the Pax at concerts and ball games so the ease of use is handy for passing it around. If I need it for just me this thing will do the job just fine. Great work on putting together a great, affordable, more than effective vape!

I got in on the massdrop for the 2.0 -- After seeing what a stand-up guy the builder is from reading (some) of this thread, I am really glad that I did. This will be my first portable vape -- I always used my dugout for portability, and my big-ass old-school vaporfection stealth for home vaping. We'll see if the VS gets much use once the FW2.0 comes.

Big thanks to @firewood for replacing my under performing 2.0. I was getting visible vapor after 40 second heat up. Subsequent hits were large and flavorful. I was able to use one of my ascent mouthpiece in place of the shorter firewood glass. I domed a small brass screen and stuffed it inside. No particulate made it past and the glass was much cooler on my lips. Not so stealthy, but that's not an issue for me. Fun little vape that i would recommend to friends.

Very new to the forums, but i've read this whole thread a few times while trying to decide to buy the firewood (I bought it after reading it the first time. :D), what i've noticed is that a lot of my herb is being burned. I follow the manual exactly and i'm getting good vapor, but it's still "burning."
Also, the first day I used it, I got incredibly medicated and didn't need much, but the when I used it again, I didn't get as high as when I first did until I filled another capsule.

Mouthpiece placement is another thing that's bothering me. Do I need to have it right in the middle like the manual says? Or can it be deeper in? I fill the capsule up loosely halfway and give the herb and end of the mouthpiece some space between each other so I can shake the herb. Is this wrong? Should I lightly compress it with the MP?

I'm loving it so far, but it seems to only give me good vapor with my first 3 sessions, but i'm thinking that's just because the battery is wearing down and will eventually need a charge. Firewood 2.0

Hi everyone! I've been cruising this site for a while and got inspired enough to order a vape from the firewood site. But I'm currently residing in the UK and I remembered that a lot of the stuff that is shipped from the outside the EU gets Duty and Taxes charges (Uh oh)... I've calculated what my charges would amount to and that's more than the actual vape!! I don't blame anyone but my own carelessness- but I was wondering whether anyone who ordered from the UK (or the EU I guess) got away with not paying any duty charges?? I think someone mentioned that the boxing is discreet - so might that mean that I might get away with not having to pay as much? Blaah :p

inko,
My AVB from the 2.0 is always very dark at the bottom of the bowl and nicely toasted (yellow-ish brown) at the top. Sometimes, a bit at the very bottom that's actually touching the screen combusts as well. After the 40 second warmup, I hold the trigger for about a minute straight, taking two slow, long draws. I repeat the minute long session each time I wanna take two more hits. I breath slow, but not extremely slow. It's like I'm sipping the vapor. Anyone know if my technique is wrong?

I would shorten the warm-up,I used to do 40 but have really been enjoying just a 20 or 30 second heat up. You may want to try stirring shaking or even packing. I tend to stir around the flavor drop and then use hotter temps.

Also I've notice inhaling fast or faster than slow really produces some clouds.

Shaking might be a little difficult because the herb I have now is very, very sticky. I can try stirring, but honestly, I want to minimize the number of times I have to open up the top.

Does packing it really help keep the AVB more consistent? I would think the opposite because of restricted airflow through the herb, but I may try it just to see.

That would vary on you're load size, I would just try inhaling faster. How fine is your grind?
Your herb gets less sticky when it becomes abv. I try and only stir once if I do. But it's really more like poking at the herb to make it even finer.

Thanks paytonpenn! I got it down perfectly now! I love this vape. It's so easy to use, discrete, and fun. my problem was I was inhaling too slow and the grind wasn't fine enough. I didn't have my grinder on me so I had to use the scissor and shot glass method. After I used my grinder, I vaped for like 4 or 5 draws, stirred up the AVB to get the stuff at the bottom spread all over, and toked for maybe 3 or 4 more. Once I was done, the AVB was a consistent dark brown, just how I like it. There were a couple lighter, yellow spots, but I consider it well vaped. Battery life is solid too, lasts me four sessions. Each session lasting about 20 minutes. Can't wait to stain and finish it!

I received my walnut Firewood 2.0 (via the massdrop) and have had a couple sessions with it so far.

Overall, I love it. Build quality is excellent, and I can really feel the attention to detail put into the unit. I also like the similar form factor to the dugout (although it is bigger), since the dugout was always my portability option in the past.

The FW extracts every little bit of goodness from my herb, leaving it a dry dark brown at the end. Most of all, it delivers that goodness to the body with zero lung stress. I hardly had any visible vapor out of it at all, but got seriously high about halfway through a very tiny bowl.

The only downside is having to keep the button held down constantly. I would like to see a 3.0 where one press turns on the heater and it stays on, with a second press to turn it off. Combine that with a safety feature of 5 minute automatic shut off, and the button would be perfect, IMO.

Still, even with having to keep the button held down, I love this unit. I give it a 9 out of 10.

Hi there, I've had the first firewood shipped, the second firewood shipped and the second firewood shipped again due to weak battery, never paid customs. EU resident.
I'll be testing the battery fix soon.

The more I use the FW2.0, the more I love it. Super efficient, well-designed and high-quality throughout. The wood is finely sanded to an incredibly smooth finish, and it feels great in the hand.

For anyone on the fence with this unit, you won't be disappointed.

If a version 3.0 ever comes out with a "click on / click off" switch like I mentioned above, I will buy it too.

I don't think that will happen. I feel like it goes against the whole thing they were going for, and that was the fact that it is a simple manual vape.

I love this vaporizer by the way, it is awesome and vapes like a champ.

2.0, is better in my opinion
1.0 Could get at hotter temps easier which is not necessarily better or worse, but the 2.0 has far more convection and I don't have to worry about others combusting like they would with the original.

Just wondering is there any decrease in performance if I pull the mouthpiece higher a bit? I have big lips heh

Also, was my Firewood supposed to come with two screens? If that's the case I only received one. Where would I be able to purchase one that can be used on the mouthpiece?
