So I'm probably swapping my PnP with my buddy for a DBV, as I'm a huge fan of the SSV..
But does anyone know if anybody's modded their DBV to basically be an SSV?
It seems to me it would take minimal work with either of the 2 methods I've thought of.
Just random thoughts haha

I haven't' seen too many people do it, but it's possible.

Sick! Might have to get set up on the standard kit somehow.. One day..

Though what I had in mind was more along the lines of cutting a 10 degree sliver off the bottom, or getting a custom heater cover that's slightly taller at the bend, and angled down a smidge- probably cutting out that top piece above the actual connection, so it has that U-shaped cut..
I've really put some thought into it haha..

These speaker isolation pads were posted earlier

Don't trash your DBV, make an angled stand with taller rubber feet in the front back or something

I just got the aroma top for my DBV - just wondering how long it should take for it to heat up?

I have mine on full right now and nothing is happening as far as melting the little bits of yankee candle I broke up and put in the aroma top. I tried to shave the candle as I'd read on here, but it's really crumbly (still smells really nice though) so cutting it up into little chunks was the best I could do.

It's been maybe 15 minutes. Maybe I should have waited for it to heat up and then put stuff in it...

Was also wondering if once the wax starts melting I should turn it down to say noon or lower? I can't find much info about the aroma top online I guess because it's really simple - probably overthinking it a bit and it'll just start working in a while. As I was typing this, I just noticed the wax is melting a little bit, but no aroma as of yet.

Still haven't used the DBV yet but really looking forward to giving it a go soon - will report back here after I've done so :)

edit: it's started working now!

The aroma top is not meant to melt anything fast.
Wax also is not always best use of the top.
Try a few drops of an essential oil.
leave unit on at regular operating temp.. not high.
The dish will be ready to diffuse oils in 10-20 minutes.
try cinnamon or lavender! those are obvious scents to begin working with.
Use real essential oils.. not specialty scents of man made essence.

I realized shortly after that wax wasn't the best, it ended up just building up in the aroma top after it had been on for quite a while. I got an oil burner and some lavender essential oil a couple of weeks ago, so I have started using the essential oil and it's working much better! Thanks for the info :)

I had always intended that when I got the money up for a desktop unit, it would be a Silver Surfer. My friend's SSV was my first practical introduction to vaporizing and it was magical. But, well it has been a while, more than a year and I still have yet to have enough "spare money" (man when you have medical issues is there ever such a thing?) to get a SSV, anything we have saved from one month to the next gets pissed away on unexpected bills and medical costs.

As some of you probably know, Da Buddha just got Mass-dropped again. I brought it up and my partner has offered to allow me to get Da Buddha now instead of waiting months or years more to be able to afford the SSV, provided I seek no other desktop unit until Da Buddha fails. I spent a little bit of time agonizing, but ultimately decided I would rather have a desktop for at home, considering the fiddliness of my DV. I understood it to be a cheaper build than SSV, but from reading the first 10 and last 10 pages and a broad selection of other forums and blogs I am convinced that since I don't need a fancy glass knob, I can deal.

Here we go, plunging in both feet first. It will be a while before the mass dropped distribution gets it out to me, but I felt like this was a bit of a milestone to share.

It will be a long time coming before a DBV "fails".
relax and enjoy it.
I am counting on it. Seventh Floor products seem to have a low fail rate as it is. I figure several years with Da Buddha will be good, and should Galactus ever invade and eat my heater core or something, I will enlist the Silver Surfer then. Really, I had initially thought if I was going to invest in a Buddha, may as well just save the extra for the SSV, but having lived with that goal for a long time and making no headway, this deal just fell into my lap at the same time as our meager tax return and it feels like kismet. Still more than we can really spare, but tax returns are like free money after we get all our bill sup to date and if we are going to do anything crazy, it has to be tax return or a birthday gift that does it for us.

DaVinci has treated me well and will still be my portable, but it is far from stealthy. The smell gets pretty strong with DV and I clean that beast every 4 days, and still, it reeks. My spouse can tell when I have been vaping, because the smell wafts all around the room and hangs there, particularly around where I have the unit, but even creeping into the hallway. He's not a fan of cannabis, but is supportive f my use for pain. Anyhow, my friend's SSV didn't let off much smell at all and I am hoping for that, because I hate interrupting my love with a smell that bothers him.

I think I am coordinated enough to avoid blowing my load (hey now! mind out of the gutter) into the heater even at a 90* angle, and handsfree while not my ultimate goal, will be easier on me, I think, since I have trouble maintaining one position for long. I want to get an aroma top, too, and one of the pretty duff jars with the easy dump hole thingy. Anybody now of a good deal on either of those?

Also anyone have experience using a Buddha with a third lung/ vapor lung? Just looking for tips on easiest use with the whip attachment and bottle/bag combo.

Hey guys I got my vape a few days ago and been using it 247 but I noticed mine doesnt seem to get that hot my buds dont start steaming till im about 3/4 up (3 o clock position) and a hour ago I tried it on full blast to get big rips and I noticed I cant combust even if I tried. Also I noticed in videos that the heating element glows bright when its turned up however if I turn mine on full blast and turn the lights off mine is just barely glowing. When I got mine in the mail I didnt know it came with a european plug so I had to go to radioshack and get a converter thingmajig for 14 dollars, could this somehow be limiting power to my vape or something?? My last batch of buds turned brown around the the 3 o clock position but my new batch (which is danker) is still gold in color after trying it on full blast for a few mins

Ouch, chances are a 14 dollar converter won't do it. Whats the output wattage?
If I remember correctly Da Buddha draws 45 watt peak, that means you would at least need a 100 watt converter (100 is the peak output, not the constant output) from what I've learned with by EV-2 (I am from europe, it came with a US plug, peak draw is something around 30, I use a 75 watts converter).
My guess would be you have a 45 watts converter that barely has enough output to feed dat hoggish buddha boy ;)

Edit: Ok according to the Sticker on the base the Da Buddha draws 25 watts. I used a power meter to test my Da Buddha and got around 24-25 in idle and up to 30 watts when heating up. The EV-2 has about half of that and I was told to use a 75 watts converter. I'd say you should get a 100 watts converter for propper power. I use something similar to this, just the other way around: http://www.logingel.com/1088/182369/0/ShowProduct/Voltage_converter_220V_100W

I got it from vaporseller.com my thing from radioshack says 10a so at so thats means it can handle 1200 watts at my 120v. I noticed that the light on the back (and heating element) dont even turn on until my knob is turned to 10 o clock, well past the click position. Here is where I am confused on the bottom it says 120v 60hz 25w but the plug is for 220v so say I did live in uk when I plugged it in it would probably explode because thats 2x the voltage. WTF

Da Buddha ordered! I have a D020 I'll be pairing it with and I'm shopping/building for an all glass airway for the new rig. I saw http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/da-buddha.172/page-121#post-441955, which is probably what I'll do at first.

From glassblowersdirect.com - notice the "U" shaped 90 degree adapters? These could eliminate the need to put risers under the DBV like in the previous reference pic, and the transitions are all smooth for airflow. Is it possible to use these as an all-in-one WPA/wand? (So we can pretend our DBV's are LSV's without holding them face-down lol) I don't have my whip yet to experiment with and no experience improvising with screens and wands. Not sure how easy it is to get a screen to stay in the straight end.

Also, for another $5 they can make a custom one how you describe but hey I have a $25 bubbler and a used ebay DBV - I'm trying to keep accessories cheap too.

Personally, I'm just gonna use the whip
Though it will be going straight to my roor or my bubbler
If it is in fact the same tubing as the SSV, I'm gonna love it haha

Found a knob I like, in anticipation of my dbv arriving.. tried to stay consistent with the Zen buddha and "Sharper Image" corrugated base and understated features.

I found some sexy ones that were either too steep (+$10) or too far away... I didn't even shop through the $30+ custom guitar knob stuff

oh damn if you are looking for knobs :worms:http://unofficialwarmoth.com/index.php?topic=14401.0

@Herr_Dampf It's beautiful but after shipping, a glass knob gets close to half the cost of my $78 ebay DBV :goat:
I can't do it lol -- much easier for me to "accidentally buy it" if I was buying new all at once with the credit card etc

edit: Your green HC looks sweeeet
edit2: Probably the best looking DBV base unit I've seen
