Thanks OF! Don't think it's you.... I've been known to be compared to a London Fog Bank in regards to "Density".... (reference to being Dense!) :tinfoil:

In regards to Al Gore, he'd have accomplished so much more if he'd just been VAKED!:rockon::rockon:

Don't confuse being dense with self confident......I fall into that trap all too often.

I'm not so sure how much old Al would have accomplished if he'd been more enlightened, but I have a strong opinion of how much better off we'd all be if he'd just stayed home. This BS "hockey stick curve" in his 'Inconvenient Truth' spiel is costing us dearly (but making him all kinds of money).

I read with much amusement the other day about a new found village in Israel, over 2000 years old. Several agricultural families in a 8000 square foot village of stone one room houses and narrow alleys. IIRC Al Gore's modest country place has more than that on the ground floor........ You remember the place, the one that uses 13 times the normal electricity for houses in the area? Pretty big slice of the pie seems to me.

Anyway, back on track, glad you're up to speed battery wise. I hope you get much enjoyment from your unit and never face battery replacement.

Thanks for sticking with it, I hope others do as well.

So to summarize...Charge fully the first time. Do 2-3 sessions between charges...not topping it off after each session?

No... Charge fully. Use it until it displays 1 or 0 LEDs for power level. Don't let if completely die. When charging let it fill the power level LEDs but unplug before the green blinking light turns solid.

Alright, so my Solo should be coming in tomorrow and I'm super excited. I can't do anything on the internet except research things I can do with my vaporizer/abv/reclaim. :science:
I have a couple questions regarding Solo stem reclaim qwiso. Idk if this is the place to ask, but I figured it was because my questions are mostly specific to stem reclaim qwiso (not herb).
  1. I hear about people using the same iso cleaner over and over (say for a month) and then finally evaporating the amberish iso to get the "hash". Now what worries me is that when making qwiso with herb you only want the herb in the iso for <30seconds. Doesn't having reclaim soak in iso for long periods do whatever you dont want it to do to herb? (I believe it has to do with chlorophyll but idk...)
  2. I'll probably be evaporating in an outside storage closet (about 3ftx2ft) that has no ventilation but also noone will be in there obviously. Is that ok? (I live in a small 1bd/1bath apt so I dont want fumes in here)
  3. Can I use this reclaim"hash oil" or whatever you call it in a G pen? I might be getting one for free from a buddy so that's my main purpose of making this anyways.
  4. Is the stem reclaim qwiso "full spectrum"? (I believe that means same concentration of thc vs cbd that the herb would have)
  5. Lastly, any best or favored tips/procedures for making this stem qwiso (im open to QWET too) is appreciated!
EDIT** Is qwiso even necessary? Can I just scrap the "wandhash" and use it for a Gpen? Sorry guys I'm completely new to concentrates.
I would and have searched the forums (the threads are massive!!) but I don't see many "tutorials" on specifically stem qwiso.
I really appreciate any help. (Sorry for the wall of text lol)

reclaim is fine as it's just condensed vapors and cannabinoids, there really isn't much you don't want in there to begin with. with flower when you do ISO washes you don't want to pull too many fats, waxes, chlorophyll, etc. reclaim doesn't really have that.

yes.

yes.

no. more sedating, more CBD/CBN, very little THC depending on your temperatures.

stem hash is really as easy as soaking your dirty stem in ISO and then evaporating. that's it. I used to wash my pieces with the same ISO but not anymore. I just don't care lol.

Bummed its not full spectrum. Oh well though, its free re-use right?
Thanks for the answers!

EDIT** Why would it not be mostly THC? (If only right:D) Because wouldn't the vapor going through the stem be mostly THC and less CBD/CBN which would stay in the ABV (not in the stem) and vapes at a higher temperature?

Best place to get the wooden stems? What are the big benefits of these over glass? Also, where can a male stem for a 18mm joint?
thanks!

It is at first but goes away with time. Maybe we can revive it by cleaning the inside but i never did it.

Not bad at all! Actually, I was sad it went away. After time, it doesnt affect the taste much to a point i dont see much difference.

Hi, sorry didn't see the other edit and stuff.

It will be mostly CBD/CBN because of the varying boiling points of the cannabinoids. There's over 60 cannabinoids in the plant, but the ones we "care" about more are THC, CBD, and CBN. Being that they're different chemicals with different properties and structures, they have different boiling properties. THC's is notably lower than CBD, and CBD's boiling point isn't as high as CBN's. If you set the Solo to level 2 and vape that, you'll be vaping mostly the THC and little CBD, barely any (if any) CBN. As you increase the temperature the flower gets subjected to rising temperatures, so it will vaporize whatever THC remains. Also the cannabinoids will vaporize at a little lower than their stated temperatures, for the same reason that water turns to water vapor before it reaches boiling point.

And yeah, you can definitely scrape the oil out with a paperclip or something. The thing is it's kinda sticky/runny and doesn't really like being scraped out. I found one way to bypass that was to pour some kief directly into the inside of the stem. The kief coats the stem oil and makes it much easier to scrape the oil/kief mixture. Then I just add that to loads as needed. I like getting it out with ISO so that I can vape it by itself in an oil pen or in the Solo with some cotton.

Thanks for that insight Quetzalcoatl. At first I didn't think my Solo was efficient, but I think I was vaping too quick as I was getting an oily buildup in the metal bowl and in the stem. Last night I emptied the stem and set the heat level to 5 and did a straight 12 minute session with nothing in it and...never been so damn high in my life!!! I mean we're talking about warp 11 here people, all of a sudden my world turned into anime and I blew vapor out several times to visually make sure I wasn't imagining things (yes, even the vapor looked straight cartoony!). I don't know if my herb was throwing off moisture (too wet) or if I'm just a nut:shrug: Could that be the CBNs vaping off at the higher temps? Also after this epic Japenese Ghost In The Shell anime experience, I noticed the metal bowl was newer looking again and less oil buildup in the stem...either I'm just a high noob or...a penny for your thoughts:2c:

I guess my thoughts are more about vaping in general; it does seem to make the herb last longer because you can get a free session off residue after 4 regular flower sessions, and then you can re-vape ABV on a slightly higher setting for a tiny effect. Later on when I play with cooking ABV...if that works than I can finally understand how people are conserving so much compared to combustion.

Another thought I would like opinions on: I am worried about small grains or keif eventually falling into the unit by the small holes in the bowl, should I be worried about this? Would it be better just to operate my unit upside-down? If I mix a drop of reclaim oil in with flowers, would it again be better to operate unit upside-down to keep from gunking up the metal bowl?

PS: I am surprised by how my unit retains heat so well for being powered by batteries, I don't have to wait more than 2 seconds before I take another hit...it maintains temp like a champ! Not sure if it is only with new units, but I would never need to go beyond heat level 5, this thing gets plenty warm in no time, very happy! Not trying to sound like a company salesman, but damn am I hhaappyy!! Also not having to stir the bowl mid session is awesome...hated doing that with my old DBV (laziness)...as long as I start at 3-4 and then bump to 5 the next session I get a very consistent ABV, no burning or green pieces=AWESOMENESS!!

Oily buildup in the heater? That doesn't sound good. Do you mean that you just have a little brown ring in there? If there's actual oil in the heater that's not good.

Vaping is much more efficient than smoking, yes. I read a study recently that cited that up to 40% of the total cannabinoid content of your flower was lost through smoking/combustion, and we do none of that, so it's a fair bit more efficient.

Herb that has a lot of moisture in it does tend to vape slower at the beginning, the first few draws will be really tasty because you're vaporizing the water content as well as the terpenes (the stuff that gives it the taste/smell). The more you hit it, the more the water content is reduced, and the vapor starts to become "thicker" in the sense that you have more cannabinoids to vapor content instead of cannabinoids and water moisture. I like to have my material dry for vaporizers. My preferred moisture level is just before you can crumble it with your fingers to a dust. Not quite bone dry, I can still crumble it with my fingers, but it doesn't turn to dust because it's not completely dry. I get a nice mildly steamy and tasty first hit, and then everything after that is vapor.

Good question about the holes, the newer Solos now have bigger air holes so it's something to be considered more now... Usually when I use my Solo I take the first hit upside down so the trichomes melt and the flower ends up kinda gluing itself together. However I've been using my Solo with water about 95% of the time so it's upside down anyways. If you want to make sure nothing ever falls in there you could add a screen to the stem after you pack it (1/2" stainless steel screens). I don't really worry too much about it, and if I'm going to vape kief with the Solo right-side up (dry, no water), I like to sandwich it in between some flower so that it doesn't fall down. First hit upside down to glue everything together, then rock it as normal.

As for reclaim oil, again, if you're going to use it dry/right-side up, I would sandwich the oil between flower, maybe adding a smaller layer to the bottom of the stem, then the oil, then a bigger layer of flower after that so that the oil can absorb into the thinner layer and then into the thicker flower layer. You don't want oil dripping into the heater. You can also wrap the oil in some organic untreated chemical-free cotton or hemp and put that in your stem to vape.

Thanks for the reply, that answered all of my questions!

No, there is no oil or burn off from the heater itself. I did the proper heat break in and never saw any off-gassing. Only residue is where the stem rests and in the stem itself, keep in mind I am a lightweight though and it takes 4 heavy sessions before any oil starts to linger...and I'm pretty well medicated ATM...:uhoh:

How well does it vape at 2? I think someone else with an M1E1 said theirs ran really hot at 2?

That the new M1E1 model @ataxian? Reason I was asking what it was like at 2 was because someone else was saying it was too hot for being level 2.

I use level 3 dry and 4 wet.
Tonight I did dry on 4 and this CACTUS COOLER was going off!

My 3 SOLO's are from 2 1/2 years ago the newest is the last model before the adjustments.

I would buy a 4th one however 3 is enough!
