I never heard of gangsta related OG, but OG meant when I was younger coming from a place near the ocean, whose soils and climate produced specific densities.(Ocean Grown)

This. If you look it up on MJ sites, its more often than not described as standing for "ocean grown".

Of course as with all acronyms, there are multiple meanings.

Not saying some growers have not decided (because it is THEIR choice) to name their strains after new cultural icons...
I'm just saying.....
I smoked a couple of strains called OG, including OG Kush, as far back as 1970.
There were no "Gangstas" (as term now applies)or Rappers back then.

In street terms, Old Gangsta or original Gangsta refers to the real Gangsters that set the mood for future tough guys. (1940s and 1950s thugs)

How funny... this is like Deja Vu
I posted about this a couple days ago, and totally forgot.
see what I wrote at http://forum.grasscity.com/apprenti...ll-decision-what-does-og-mean.html?p=19487240

I got my Solo today, but because I didn't buy it directly from the website, I didn't get the Zeus grinder that they gave away with the purchase. I already have a grinder, but the day for me to discard it and invest in a new one has long since passed. Has anyone here used the Zeus grinder? From reviews I've seen and read, the Zeus produces a better consistency specific to vaporizers, not better consistency in general. One review I saw explained why the Vortex (the one with the hand crank) is better and, though I've never used a grinder like that, it made sense. Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone had any first or second hand knowledge about it.

Also, I get the sense from the dog whistle language that I might not be the type of person with whom you guys would want to associate. I believe everyone, regardless of their beliefs, has a right to their own corner of the internet without it being invaded by an undesirable group. I didn't realize until I saw the comments above that this was that sort of place. I'm not making a judgment. Anyway, I hope you guys are willing to give me help in this arena and I'll be out of your internet space. If I had known in advance that FC was a site not meant for people of color, I would never have infringed upon your time. I'm sorry and I wasn't trying to be a stealth intruder. Also, I understand perfectly if you don't want to answer because, well, I am not the type of person with whom you would engage voluntarily and would never have engaged had you known my race. Sorry for intruding. Peace.

That's marketing BS. Their 4 pc. grinder has holes like any other brand, and it'll grind to a consistency that's the same as any other with the same general design. Once the pieces are small enough to drop through, that's your consistency. It would be fine for most vapes, but not the Magic Flight, for example. If they have a 2 pc. design it's no different than other brands of about the same size. It'll grind finer (depending on the moisture content) as long as you keep grinding, just like any other 2 piece design.

Cranks and clear tops are gimmicks and will likely not hold up long term, especially if you're trying to grind some moist, dense buds, which will provide extra resistance.

I assume you're referring to the questions about the definition of 'OG'. There's zero racism involved in this discussion, as far as forum management is concerned, and no one who has offered any input on it has ever been accused of racism here.

If you're going to accuse this site, or any members posting here, of being racist, I suggest you come up with a little more evidence than what you've provided to this point.

I don't understand this post. I have never seen anyone with any problems with race on this board. I would help you out if I had any experience with the grinders you are talking about. I just don't get why you feel that this board has a problem with different races. Please explain.

Okay, I was just trying to be polite and respectful of the boundaries of others. I wasn't calling anyone a racist and I'm not interested in that type of discussion. I just didn't want to be sort of a "stealth" member of an online community where I might not be welcome. It's a rude thing people do online and I just try to be respectful. This isn't the place for this conversation, or at least I didn't think it was, so I was just gonna apologize and move on which is exactly what I'm going to do.

Anyway, thanks for your opinion on the grinder. I'm not an expert on these things and I'll use that knowledge going forward on another site devoted to vaporizing. Thanks for all the good opinions and knowledge you guys have given me. Good luck and happy vaping!

I have no idea what you mean by "dog whistle language", since I've never heard that expression before, but this comment - "If I had known in advance that FC was a site not meant for people of color ...." - clearly says you're assuming that this is a racist site, and nothing could be further from the truth.

We have a whole section on the rules page (which I assume you've read, since you agreed to abide by those rules) on conduct, as far as interaction with other members, and we've always made the 'Be Nice' section a priority. You're free to report any post that you think is in violation of the rules, and if we don't agree, we'll most likely let you know the reason. But don't interpret one or more posts as racist and then make a statement about this being "a site not meant for people of color". We don't ban people for a casual, bigoted statement, since we realize that everyone brings their own baggage and upbringing, but statements meant to offend other members are absolutely not allowed and warnings, with points, are issued when that happens. Whatever you're seeing in this thread that you interpret as bigotry, is only being interpreted as such by you.

My fault for asking evidently!
I'm so out of touch that when I learned that one of the definitions for OG was original gangster,
my mind immediately went to hell's angels/sons of anarchy.
So it's a black thing too, huh...
I would imagine it could be used in that context for gangsters of any color.
@NewYorkNativist, you seem quite sensitive but you have it wrong.
In fact if anybody's exhibiting racism here, it's you!

1. I am stunned that my attempts at being respectful has inspired such vitriol. Perhaps a reworking of what I said will make my intent clearer. FC is not my pace. Obviously, the space literally belongs to the owners and or moderators of the site. But, it the space also belongs to the community of users who've been here long before I even heard of it, let alone joined it. Irrespective of whether my perception of the sensibilities of the community are accurate, they were rooted in good will and respect.

2. The concept of "dog whistle" language or a "dog whistle" term is based on the training whistle used for a dog. Humans are, at best, only capable of hearing 20,000Hz in the upper register whereas a dog can hear up to 60,000Hz. These whistles are silent to us because they are beyond our range of hearing, but that doesn't mean there isn't a sound being made. When people speak of "dog whistle" terms or language, they are referring to words or discourse used in place of words or discourse our society has deemed unacceptable. For example, polite society has deemed saying the "n-word" totally unacceptable, so bigots come up with other words to express the same bigotry. The principle of the dog whistle applies: just because the speaker isn't saying the "n-word" doesn't mean s/he isn't saying something bigoted. When I said that I saw the dog whistle language, I was saying that bigoted language doesn't have to be openly vicious or over the top for the speaker to be saying something bigoted. Your official policy may be anti-racist, but that doesn't mean that your community abides by it.

3. Your response to my concerns as being just being in my mind does nothing but reinforce the notion that this place isn't an okay for a person of color. I'm not Jewish, but if a Jewish person tells me that s/he feels that s/he has been a victim of antisemitism, I take his or her word for it. Why? Because that person knows better than I do what antisemitism looks like and feels like. I'm not so arrogant as to think that I can supplant my experiences and my own "wisdom" for that of that person. You've decided that you know better than me. If you ask anyone who's studied critical race theory, that person will tell you that that type of behavior does create a hostile environment for people of color.

4. When you tell people to "be nice" that doesn't necessarily mean be nice to everyone or that everyone will take it to mean that extends to everyone.

5. I've never asked you to ban anyone. It isn't my place to make such a request. It's also not my place to go report anything to you because, again, I am new here, I'm not a member of the community, and if the people who've been here for a while feel comfortable with the language, then the only reasonable fair thing for me to do is to leave. You can disagree with me or not, but it doesn't feel like this is a place for, at the very least, black people.

That's the best answer I have for you Max. Once again, I am very surprised that my attempt to be reasonable and respectful of your space has descended into this.

Personally, I think you have a chip on your shoulder and you're looking for and finding something that is not happening here. To me, it seems as though you have an agenda. This thread, this forum is not the place for your agenda. You want to talk vaporizers, glass, and accessories then go for it. If you're here for some other reason then you're barking up the wrong tree.

Thought I'd post this link because I am one of the people you are calling racist ...

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=OG

It's a common term these days ... no one ever associated any race with the term "gangsta" except for yourself.

I work with people of all races and we all get along great.
