The Cloud EVO Anticipation Thread

I don't think LumeKa is rude, as he explains English isn't his first language and he has clarified his earlier statements.

Whilst I realise that items being stuck in customs for weeks is beyond Vapexhales control LumeKa makes some good points- it is rather unfair that us internationals having contributed a large amount of money to the evo's cause are still waiting while domestic customers who have never heard of indiegogo are able to purchase the unit and receive it within days.

I understand that we can't expect a small start up to ignore revenue of this kind but it's annoying for the rest of the world and perhaps could have been planned/organised slightly more efficiently.

You are welcome:-) I too seem to spend most of my day clicking the refresh button.

I don't think anyone has ever suggested it is a 'conspiracy' that you are holding back on international customers!? Even I at my most cross in a previous comment have only stated that we 'seem to have been forgotten' which given all the exciting things happening on the main thread and lack of updates here is reasonable. From all the comments I've read on this thread (and I check every day) people here seem to be supportive and patient and it's only in the past week or so that the international community have started tearing their hair out...

This is kind of understandable given you completed your domestic indiegogo orders nearly a month ago- which to clarify means everyone in the US has had a working evo for weeks while ours haven't even been assembled or tested yet. It is also difficult not to be irritated that US customers can now purchase straight from your website and receive their evo within days while us indiegogoers, who took the leap of faith and supported your new venture right from the start, are still waiting with no end in sight.

Parts for international orders have been at customs for nearly two weeks. I realise that this is out of your hands but a quick update every so often, even just to tell us that they are still stuck at the border, would be appreciated. I think that the part of the frustration comes from (to quote an previous post) 'we have been three weeks away for what feels like months'. The girlfriend is now thoroughly sick of me saying 'ooh it should be here in a few weeks!' for the past three months.

Why can't Vapexhale offer us a US evo? I myself would probably still wait for the 220-240V version given that it's probably (hopefully!) only a few weeks away but as this has been the case for months it might be an idea. An adapter wouldn't be too hard to find.

I don't want this to come across as completely negative- I am hugely impressed with Vapexhale and as a company your ethics and customer service are fantastic. I have never for one minute regretted investing money in your campaign to create the worlds greatest vape nor ever doubted I would receive one when you guys were ready. It's just getting a bit hard watching all the US lot loving their evos while ours don't seem to get any closer...

I wasn't directing this to you in particular, just a broader statement. If anyone want to look at PMs that have been directed to me (and the foul, abusive language used), you will see that there are plenty of people accusing us purposely holding back international units for a variety of reasons. Instead of addressing people specifically, it seemed much easier to broadcast a generic method.

We didn't offer you guys a US EVO because we already got a shit ton of negative feedback from folks that said they don't want to use an adapter or they were just concerned with inverter issues. One thing people need to realize is that decisions that are made are always done for the greater majority. There will always be people that feel wronged by some decision we made that may benefit a broader group of folks other than themselves. For every person that said yes to US EVO with plug, there were at least 5 people that wanted a 220 version. So we went with the majority surveyed.

If we rushed US units to you guys and you had to send them back at some point, the shit storm would would be much crazier. Our brand had a rough 2013 and we couldn't risk having something negative happen. We wanted to avoid that at all costs and send you guys the best EVOs we could possibly make. We know everyone is anxiously waiting for their unit and we want to be as quick as possible. We are still a 5 person team and we didn't think "it is still in customs" was an appropriate update ourselves. We wanted to update when we had some visibility into when it would actually be released.

Because of our small team, time management is very important. When I'm not evangelizing the product, I'm doing work to get units out to the right people. I don't think there is ONE member of this team that puts in less than a 14 hour day. All of this takes crazy amount of coordination (since we are all remote) and while updating every social channel/forum that we are on might be optimal, ultimately people want their units sooner than later and sometimes when we are knee deep in production, updates don't occur as often.

We also need to be careful about what we say and what timelines we are on but people aren't satisfied with vague answers so when they hold our feet to the fire and we give a date, that is the date that looks most likely based on the data that we have at that time. If anyone has ever run a business, they will know that shit happens. Which is why I gave a vague date until we actually test out this component to make sure it works right.

I'm not here to argue, defend, or have discourse on this topic. I'm just here to let you know that we are all super anxious to get you guys your units but we're not gonna rush and do it wrong. We all want your first experience with this unit to be your best vapor experience and given the development cycle of the EVO starting from August, by any manufacturing standards, we are moving at a blistering pace. Ideally, we would've like a full year to test and push stuff out but life didn't afford us that luxury. All I want to say is that we are doing our best, and that is all we can give.

Thank you.

stonemonkey count me as one who would have been less than impressed with use of an adapter, i'm so glad you choose to go down the 220v path, for that i salute you! i dunno it just feels more personal that we are being catered for in every aspect including the plug situ, y'all just need to take a chill pill it will be ready when its ready.

i'm chomping at the bit for my evo landing too, it will make it all the sweeter when i finally get my grubby mitts on it, at the moment i'm using alternatives for my vaping experience, i'm less than impressed with basically all that i have tried outside the cloud, nothing does it for me, for starters the taste cannot be matched... the extraction...... aint nothing going to compare to evo, just bare that in mind peeps, keep the faith!

I have to agree. Unfair is not a valid argument when participation was fully voluntary.

Crowd funded projects often times do not ever see fruition, so if anything this whole things still has to be seen as a big success. The information has been shared as to where the holdups lie, the good folks at VXL are forthcoming with the fact that they are working on the units. It is a delay. That is all...

If the tone that comes across from the people left without for the moment is one of disappointment, I can totally empathize and sympathize. When it comes off as being owed something, those are the moments that I shake my head and wonder what got people feeling so entitled. Perhaps an adjustment on perspective would help - Contributors to the campaign signed up to essentially help VXL get back on their feet and as a reward they get some special things - no one has been left out to dry.

Being upset is something that we should all be used to. It is not to say that you will be upset forever, just need to temper it with patience. To think that production should halt for units that can be out the door would put undue delays for the masses in place as well as not allow a revenue stream to open, which may ultimately be what it takes to get things rolling more smoothly and ultimately faster. There are a LOT of moving parts here and regardless of how hard it is to remember when you are wanting, we have to keep it in mind that no delays or difficulties with the process are intended to land on anyone. It is how the cookie crumbles sometimes...

Thank you for the update stonemonkey. I understand and agree with all that you have said above- didn't intend to imply that you weren't doing your best to get the units out to us only that us internationals are understandably beginning to feel frustrated after our long wait and the open release to domestic customers.

I realise that this is the way it has to be and would certainly not be as foolish to think you should hold off supplying new customers while waiting to finish the 220V units but it is maddening watching a month of rave reviews from lucky people in the US while our evos are still on the workbench.

As regards updates I wouldn't ask for nor want a definitive timescale as I know that this is unachievable given extraneous factors and would just lead to more frustration. You guys have been excellent at keeping us updated and this is the main reason I've kept the faith all these months. Having said that even a quick negative 'bloody customs have still got the parts, hoping to clear in the next few days' update would have been good given that it had been a week since we last heard anything. As we get closer to evo nirvana I for one am on the edge of my seat!

Don't really want to discuss the 220V vs 110V evos as I may be opening a can of worms and I personally would rather wait for the UK compatible unit, but maybe it would be possible (hides under bed!) to offer those who can't wait any longer a US version? They couldn't whinge too much if they'd made the choice themselves...

I shall finish this post with by reiterating that you have my full support and that I think that the work that you have done so far has been fantastic. In terms of hard work, liaising with the community and customer service Vapexhale are one of the finest companies I have ever dealt with. Have even ordered a load more ELBs and another glass mouthpiece that are sat here with me ready for the evo to arrive (which makes waiting even harder!). I also can't believe anyone would be childish enough to PM you abusive messages rather than the supportive and calm (mostly!) discussion on this site.

Here's hoping for a update soon to say that customs have pulled their finger out and testing has been successful!

Perhaps I should have used the word 'frustrating' rather than 'unfair' in my previous post, although I was only qualifying what LumeKa had already said. As you will see if you glance at the anticipation thread us international customers are still continuing to be patient and are extremely supportive of Vapexhale.

We understand that delays occur and the whole customs issue is out of Vapexhale's hands and I don't think anyone (certainly me!) has ever or would ever suggest that they stop selling units domestically until the international orders have been completed, that would just be silly.

Vapexhale have been excellent at keeping us updated I just think as we inch closer to an international release people are getting more and more excited and delays that should have been a few days turning into weeks are pushing us over the edge:-)

I've had my fingers crossed for so long now I think that they are stuck!

Thanks for that response. I don't know if this comes across as genuine or not, but I know I can speak for the entire team, we are absolutely gutted about this situation. We absolutely cannot wait to get these overseas as there is no better feeling than reading someone's first experience with the EVO and seeing how much they like it.

You are probably right, I only surfaced to answer LumeKa's question about international customers.

I will crawl back under my stone now:-P

I never believed for a single minute that you aren't as frustrated as us Stonemonkey. Hopefully you'll have some happy international reviews soon. Fingers crossed.

It was pleasant for the lucky evo owners on their posh thread to feel our pain, if only for a little while before we were stuffed back into the cellar;-)

Although possibly it would be better to delete the posts that have been carted over from the official thread, makes reading this one rather confusing now...

Anyone else having a problem with the cloud exchange? I had sent my cloud a while ago and payed for the evo last Friday morning (and I live on the east cost). As far as I know they are shipped usps 48 hour shipping. Monday was a holiday so I knew it wouldn't come but I was expecting it today (Tuesday). I haven't heard anything from them since paying so I sent them an email today waiting to hear back.

Modnote: 7 posts moved from EVO thread.

Id love to watch the American contributors sit and wait for 4 months while international customers got their units and got to work posting videos and reviews. Be nice to see how polite and calm everyone was lol.

I don't think ill be getting another vapexhale product. Ive had enough waiting around for my cloud + and now the evo is kicking on from there.

Better communication without constant delays and lack of news would be a bonus, as would actually
owning a device I purchased a long time ago.

They have already released one device for use with 220v so the process shouldnt be that shocking or unexpected.

In any other field a wait of four months is unacceptable and complaints would be aired, i consider this the case here too personally.

Just an opinion, which i'm entitled too thanks....

(Following post not directed at anyone in particular, I'm just venting :peace:)

Is it just me, or does it feel a bit condescending whenever someone chimes in with the "they only said October was the 'expected' delivery date, nothing was definite"...

Yeah, no shit, they said expect October, so I expected October.

Then October came and went, and I figured surely by Xmas...

Then 2013 ended, every update gave the feeling "its 3-4 weeks away", so I figure, OK, end of jan.

Then jan ends, and now its looking doubtful (IMO) that ill be getting it before my Bday (end of march)

If anyone can't see how frustrating that would be, perhaps take a minute to put yourself in our internationally sized shoes before you come in with a pithy reminder of the due date only being "expected"...

He'll, it took months before it was even recognised that the intl unit was on a different schedule to the US unit...

/vent...

Still pumped to finally get my EVO whenever it happens
Hope those parts clear customs soon and the VXL guys can get to testing

I agree with what's been said, would definitely be funny if intl/US roles were reversed.
Can't help but remember that pre-orders don't really mean anything (I know IGG isn't pre-order but its a similar idea)
I mean remember with the original cloud, anyone (in the US) could buy one straight off the website weeks before pre-orders had been fulfilled. I think the whole pre order thing is more gauge interest as oppose to actually lining up units for particular people.

No I haven't heard anything since paying.

The entire VXL team was at the L.A. Cup, that may be a factor. And there has only been a few business days since you ordered. I would give them another day or two.

If you need to inquire, be sure to submit a Support Ticket via support.vapexhale.com. This is their automated tracking system. Separate emails bypass this system and do not get the same attention.

if you guys put yourselves in vapexhales shoes and had your entire lives saving embedded in this project what would you honestly do? for me i would dominate my home market thats where the bread and butter lies, then when all is sweet the coffers are filling, i would burst on to the international scene with all guns blazing.

i for one do not want a repeat of previous mistakes made when the startup happened, i'm really hoping with all the usa testing there should not be issues like previous models, who wants a partially tested model
not me, i want a worry free amazing vaping experience that i can come home to every night after a hard days graft.

i wouldn't expect a company to go bust by taking excessive measures to fulfil unreasonable demands/requests, but id expect clear and accurate advice.

Nowhere was it mentioned on the indigogo campaign different time lines for the US and EU version, they implied it would be ready on time for the october release.

Maybe if they had been clear about this, and the fact we would be waiting well into next year (or at least even mentioned any delay at all) it would have affected our decisions to give out $500 over half a year before the device is even ready to be tested when it was due to be in out hands in a matter of a month or two.

If they were clearer on this i wouldn't have contributed.
If they weren't aware of the delay, they should have been as they released a cloud internationally.

I still wish them all the best, but don't have that much faith in them anymore.
And its very easy to say were being unreasonable, i remember US contributors kicking off when it looked like an october launch may be delayed. I really would love to see them now if they were still waiting.

I wouldn't have even said anything but for people being somewhat patronizing or implying were moaning or being unreasonable lol

I just struggle to believe that it could take so long ... Dec, Jan, Feb

Surely the design was sorted back in Nov and a 240V derivative simply required the appropriate 240V chip

No mention was made in the indiegogo campaign of the incredible technical challenge that this would present ... Perhaps internationalists like myself that had funded the Cloud+ 240V version assumed too much!
Then again my medication levels had been increased significantly to cope with the death of my 2 Cloud +'s ... Leading to surreal expectations that someone really cared ...

I am glad others have shared their frustration ... Unfortunately or sadly, we just have to wait

Others may see the delay as an opportunity to have the home market sort out the kinks, unfortunately last time around that was not the case in my experience.

The $50 discount was little comfort for a dead Cloud+, so I hope that the EVO is more reliable because the warranty on my Cloud + was worth even less!
