LQL Glass... the garbage diffuser? Lazy frit?

Not sure what to call it. Saw one for sale on nuggetry:

...and was perplexed by what looked like a handful of plastic tubes thrown into the bottom of the tube (and a model car tire?):

Little research led me to this (includes function video):

Anyone see these before?

Edit: I guess its called a "jimmie disc"?

Edit 2: Moar pictars and function videos! Im starting to like how these work. Not so much a lot of their color choices though...

@PhotoRider you ever run across these before?

Jimmie disk is a sucky name in my book. It looks like it functions OK, a x-tra coarse frit kinda? It looks ugly, like someone threw trash in their bong.

Lol, did he blame his BALD cat for the hair on the floor? Prolly his gross chin fur. Protip: buy a broom.

@mrboote Agreed on the name and esthetics. However I think it has promise. This doesnt look so bad:

I wouldn't mind this in clear glass or a single transparent color like above. However, I'm still not sure WTF is up with the pieces that look like they have random pieces of garbage thrown in there (like the one on nuggetry)...

I DO like the idea of a frit that doesnt clog or rob flavor though. And they do seem to stack bubbles like a baws.

Also LMAO @ the "cat hair". I didnt watch that part!

They have pieces like that at a local shop, I should've taken pictures last time I was there as they're the same brand. The ones I saw appeared to have smaller tubes and didn't have the big nasty one in the center; I know the disc on the ones I saw were a lot cleaner than the pictured ones. The pieces I handled were actually of pretty high quality, I just disliked the perc.

I was told it was "glass tubes" that were fused together similar to a frit. Less percolation and drag than a frit.

If I wanted something that doesn't really clog or rob flavor I'd take a honeycomb disc over one of these any day

Edit: I assume its called a jimmie disc because they look like jimmies (AKA sprinkles) and on a side note - the hairless cat in that video tripped me out

I just saw this thread. I've got the first pic posted on its way to me now, I'll be sure to post a review with pics and vids once I get it. I already know I'm naming it Oscar the Grouch (check out the green on the inside)

Oh so you got the one off of Nuggetry?

Lookin' through the instagram posted and saw this one... damn. Super clean.

Well I received my LQL Jimmie disc today but unfortunately no review yet. Turns out the shipper didn't know how to package glass and didn't bother to bubble wrap the base and sent it in a box barely big enough to fit it, needless to say the base broke.I'm just glad I had him ship first. The piece is still functional and I'm waiting to hear from the shipper about what he wants to do so I might be able to do a review in a little bit if he decides he doesn't want it back

Edit: So I had to take it out and clean the joint (both the joint and nail needed to be cleaned on a piece I haven't used yet) and took a look and a water test while cleaning it. It is a very cleanly made piece, all the welds were perfect, thick glass. The disc was a little uneven with it thicker on one side, but it made it really like similar to a handful of sprinkles/jimmies thrown in there.

On the water test it functioned well at multiple water levels. I could fill it anywhere between touching the bottom of the disc to as much as 3/4"above the disc without splashback. The pull was very smooth with absolutely no chug, obviously drag depended on water levels but at the low end there was absolutely none.

Without being able to give it a proper test run, it reminds me a lot of my GBD honeycomb bubbler, but is a little bit better. it is almost the exact same but the LQL is I little bit thicker, a little bit smoother, you can fill it a little bit higher, plus if you find one with some colors you like the disc is really cool. Whether or not that's worth the $200 difference in price is up to you.

Dammit I want one now because I want a disc but not a frit or honeycomb... I guess I'm tired of them. I'll be a happy man if its cleaner and thicker than a GBD bub.

20% off everything in April at the LHS that carries LQL pieces. And they had a lot more than tubes like the pictured ones. I don't know if I have the strength to wait that long!

Sorry to hear about the piece

Any updates on that?

Sitting in my closet waiting for the guys insurance claim to be processed. I haven't used it at all because not being able to set it down after I dab is a real PITA. Maybe I'll go out today and get some play-doh so I can fashion a stand for it.

If he doesn't want it back I'll probably get it repaired. I just wish it had a female joint, then it would be a very good piece for vaping flowers, it's a little too much volume for dabs IMO. I just hate using multiple adapters and I don't have an angled f to f. By the way you will need an angled adapter for most vapes as the joint is fairly close to the can. When I do get it out I'll test fit it with my solo but I think even that is too wide.

Good point. I wonder if he even makes these with female joints? His IG page says "no customs"... so maybe were SOL with SQL? If not id really like a single translucent colored disc with an 18.8mm female joint (either angled or further out) and a bent neck.

Edit maybe an E Nano could fit without an adapter?

pigfoot

Dabs are vapor too!
