The Lotus Vaporizer

I LOVE THE LOTUS!!

The problem is many people get defensive in this thread when you say the Lotus can't compete with some of these other Vapes. Well, guess what? It can't.

It cannot hit as hard as the LSV, Cloud or many other powered desktop vapes. I have the Lotus Tek down to a science and it just can't do it.

The Vap 2 tastes noticeably better than the Lotus. This is not a knock on the Lotus as the Vap 2 tastes better than any vape I have tasted.

The Lotus cannot match the simplicity of a Log Vape. A log vape is always on, load a bowl and hit it, put it in a bong and instant water filtration. Simplicity at it's finest.

I love it and it will always have a place on my shelf. But to ignore it's limitations makes no sense to me?
CANNABIS is the HOLY GRAIL!

OK, after the talks about comparing the Lotus with higher priced desktop vapes I need to throw out a thought of mine…

Maybe you can't get such big hits from the Lotus as with a Cloud or Sub and a bigger load (and frankly few people actually need such big hits, so much waste…), BUT it's the only vape I can think of that can change the temps so dramatically in milliseconds during a hit!!!

Oh yeah, I forgot about that piece of junk, the Herbalizer… :dog:

A simple downstem and that adapter would make a damn nice glass pipe…

That's exactly what I was thinking about a few pages ago. Or more or less !
The fact it can be removable would make it really pocket friendly ! However the downstem would have to be pretty small for my needs.
Thanks for the link to the ones who where searching adapters ... look at those hose adapter over here : http://glassblowersdirect.com/adapters/?product_page=1#
So... a female 14 mm (*) hose adapter angled in a 45° would be pretty neat connected with a simple glass stem ( narrow air flow like the lotus al-stem). Just need to know the hose-side diameter to fit with a glass stem, anyway a silicone piece could do the trick...

(*) Instead of 14 mm female if they could also make a 14 mm male joint fitting the lotus cap that would be even better : all glass lotus vapor path.

@ataxian -- have you used the lotus with a nugget instead of ground bud yet? I'm curious how you would compare that taste to the Vap2, since I think most of the taste benefit has to do with not grinding.

The NANO I use whole nuggets (water)
The SOLO I course grind (stems mostly and water once and a while)
The VAPOLUTION 2 I load flower nuggets I use this dry (I hate the taste of whips) AIWB mostly
The LSV wet/dry (Course/Fine/Whole Flowers) powerful!
This fills the voids until I get my HERBALIZER
The LOTUS is a analog device.
(Course ground or Whole Flowers I do)
I will try fine grind when I wake up officially.

GDP course ground tasted pretty good before bed.
I used the LOTUS last night!
CACTUS COOLER during the day!

The LOTUS is my replacement for my MFLB and the battery collection it took to operate it.
Not my driver however taste wise is not bad.
For people off the grid it's perfect.
Whole Flower I like in this device.

The VAP2 is pretty cheap and if you have access to electricity it's hard to beat on EASE of use and FLAVOR!

I need to fill my torch lighters every other day.

The LOTUS is a cool little device.
I use it with a GLASS JHOOK.

To compare it with a desk top is like comparing an Apple with a Orange!

Imo the difference in taste between whole bugs and ground ones is that the taste with whole bugs is less pronounced since there are less trichomes in the hot air stream at any certain point. With ground herb you get a more intense flavor profile, a more dense one…
I don't know about the difference between the Lotus and the Vap2 in taste but if you think the taste of the Solo is up to par with the Vap2, I think the Lotus will at least make you hit it bowl after bowl and think about the next bowl while you do that… It did for me! :smug:

I don't know what @ataxian thinks about the differences with the Solo in taste but according to my taste receptors the Lotus wins from start to finish! :2c:

good stuff. I saw that @filteredhead made a mod out of a 18m-14m adapter and i asked him about sizes, how much to cut off and he hooked me up with sizing and gave me some positive encouragement. thanks bro! As promised, here's some picts.
I picked up the adapter from a local smoke shop on the cheap, $9 no tax and went to work. Had another one i bought in a bundle from the classifieds but it looks to be better made then this one and I wanted to experiment first. Cut off some of the 14m side with a diamond cut-off wheel and a dremel to make it about 12m long and checked it in the lotus cap. Grind a little bit more, checked again, than hit it with a torch to flame polish the edges and make it smooth. Than squeezed in a screen that fits pretty perfectly from the 18m side. Came out really nice!

Haven't tried it yet as I'm still taking a break but it seems like it will work awesome.

btw... Here's the first 2 photos I've ever posted. Enjoy!

For the record:

The VAPOLUTION 2 taste 10000x better than the SOLO.

Portable vs Plug In (DUH!)
The SOLO is easy to use and the flavor is not the best however it's not unbearable.

The VAPOLUTION is cheap and very pure in flavor. (I love it!)

The LOTUS is a nice little analog vaporizer however it really is different from the SOLO or VAP2.

The flavor is good however I would say the VAP 2 is the better of the 2.

Now if you live off the grid then I would say the LOTUS is the way to go!

The VAPOLUTION 2 is not as popular as the more expensive vaporizers because it's so cheap.

The 4X4 in a URBAN City and a BIG BELT BUCKLE mentality are not going to buy a VAP 2. However they won't buy a LOTUS as well. So this is the similarity they both may have?

I don't think we are communicating here, @ataxian

Whole nugs taste better than ground bud...that's what I've experienced. It doesn't matter what vape I use, if I use a whole nug then I am getting more terps that weren't knocked off in the grinding process and it tastes better. I think this is part of the reason the Vap2 tastes so damn good..it doesn't work well with a ground herb. So I'm not really interested in a taste comparison between the Vap2 with a nug against the Lotus with ground bud. I'm interested to hear if you think the whole bud in the Lotus approaches Vap2 flavor.

Sorry I will be more direct.

The whole flower nugget aproche I love even with other vaporizers.
The narrow path the VAPOLUTION 2 contributes to the sucess of their configeration.

The LOTUS taste better than many vaporizers however the VAP2 is still the best tasting vaporizer as far as I'm concerned.

I might be bias due to my SENSITIVE pallet!

You Must Unlearn, What You Have Learned...
I have been in contact with Danny at HNSW and he personally designed me one for the Lotus! He is a great guy and responded amazingly fast!

After a few days of pretty heavy usage (I need to clean it tonight), having just partaken not five minutes past, I am compelled to say that I am infinitely pleased with this little vape.
It's made the experience so much more enjoyable.
The taste
delicious, subtle, delicate. Wholesome.
There is also the not quite absurd feeling of pride upon mastering the technique for perfect hits, the quietly fragrant cloud billowing lazily around you. It's just so fucking fun.

I still burn myself all the time on the hot plate when putting the lotus away in my pocket. Ouch!

This piece sure is a tricky little devil.

I sometimes burn my fingers on the metal base next to the ignition.

Do you think blowing on it would cool it down a little? Has anyone sacrificed any skin cells testing this?

I can see clearly now the smoke is gone...
So after much use I have decided my favorite way to use the Lotus is simply with the stem it came with. I have tried many different bubblers with it. Yet I still prefer the taste and simplicity of using it native. The stem cools the vapor nicely and the only thing water filtration does is dilute the taste imo.

Haven't tried a jhook yet, but I imagine that would be just as good.

My experience exactly!

The stem is very well thought of... Easy to clean by removing the little screw... Very nice. Since I broke my J-hook I have rediscovered the joys of the al stem.

J-hook gives cooler hits so you don't get the same feedback from temperature but you get to watch the vapor being produced. So someone can choose the pipe who likes it's feedback the best I guess.

J-hook gives cooler hits, aluminum stem is more durable and pocketable. Taste is the same with both imo...

I'd love to see a wooden one eventually added to the accessories list, one that looks like a traditional tobacco pipe. It would be so stylish... I would also love to see a long one from anodized aluminum resembling Gandalf's pipe. In black or dark brown... :brow:
