Do you guys think that there's anything to this stuff about Mango's

Ive heard about it before, never tried it. If i did try it and it worked, the only way id convince myself that it was true is if i had somehow ate a mango unknowingly, then smoked(/vaped;)) an hour later or w/e.
Id be thinking about am i higher? too much if i just straight tested it, and it wouldnt be reliable results.

Its supposidly the Myrcene that causes this. It's found in oil of hops, verbena oil, galbanum oil, Formosan, West Indian lemongrass oil, cannabis itself, and of course mango's (mainly very ripe ones) i suppose its probably in other citric fruits or something but im no scientist.

It would be great to get a test going here on this forum. seeing as theres a few other forums that have threads for it. Id like to see results, you guys are all smart enough and experienced enough to go about it the correct way.

edit: heres the article in a post from that thread, just in case no one clicked it, and had no clue what this is about.

Ya know, I usually don't fall for stuff like this, but that thread is lookin' like there really may be something to this. Don't know, but I just picked up two mangos. Now I just have to wait till they ripen up.

niether that article or that thread are convincing enough for me, the article has almost no actual scientific data, the only thing that it really says is thats both cannabis and mangos have a common terpene... the effects of that terpine were not studied and no quantifiable scientific data was given

and "getting higher" can be a placebo effect just right there, there is no quantifiable scale of highness. what was really getting me in the grasscity thread was where the guy said "i know there will be placebo, so it wont effect me" is so blatantly wrong

i did not just post this to critisize however, in fact i have a viable and scientific way that we could test this, invite 2 or more friend over, preferrably one who you already partake with, and know their limits and how they act when they get high, if possible just get a person you know loves mangos for one of them. next you give them some mango, try to do it nonchalantly so they dont suspect theres anything behind the offer. next just hang out a liitle, then have a nice session, whatever is a normal amount. one of the friends should not have eaten mango, they will be the control, and the other friend who ate the mango wont be told about the experiment till afterwards

Yeah, that placebo can be REALLY strong, but in the end, if ya eat a mango or two and get higher when you vape, who in hell cares if it's a placebo affect or not.

But that would be a pretty interesting experiment.

I tried this while eating my homemade sticky rice...granted they were pretty well ripe and I ate like 2 whole mangoes to my dome....I GOT FUCKING STONED AS SHIT

hell im still on this mango high(of course I vaped ;pd; bowls)...THEY WORK PEOPLE!!! and quite tasty I must add :brow: really adds to the high

...but dont believe me...go out and do it. If you want to ripened the mango faster, put it in a paper bag with a banana in it....the banana emits a certain chemical that ripens fruit faster...dont leave it in there for longer than a night...different from mango to mango

:peace:

...seriously it works

I dislike Mangos... living in Florida, they are plentiful :) but I'm not a fan... too messy and just doesn't hit my taste buds too well. Just me.

Wondering though if there is such a thing for sale as PURE MANGO JUICE? I wouldn't mind trying this and gulping down a mango jucie drink and then blaze/vape 30 mins later. Let me know if REAL mango juice (if it's even sold in stores and not the 10% real juice drinks) would work for a trial run? Thanks

Wonder if it inhibits the CYP3A4 enzyme like grapefruits are known to.

They say that you need to eat the mango at least an hour beforehand to realize maximum effects.:ko:

I did. But still, nothing. Well, I can't really say nothing. I mean a sweet mango with some fresh squeezed lime juice drizzled on top sure ain't nothing :p

I read a lot of posts on a couple websites about this. Hell with the amount of people saying it works, I really want to try it. Im going to make some mango smoothies and give them to a friend or two and not say anything, just tell them I got some smoothies for us. Then vape away and I will report back on how it works. Would be really interesting for it to significantly work.

And even if it is the placebo effect as said before, if you think your higher, then hell Id said it worked!

I actually learned about this in class. I think it's something along the lines of the body taking a longer time to remove the drug, enhancing the effect(but these drugs are not meant to stay in your body for a prolonged period of time, can be lethal). While, there may not be negative effects of MJ, many drugs that you take will be affected by this and stay in your system longer. Just be careful of what other drugs are taken in conjunction with grapefruit juice. Anyway, this is at least from what I remember.
Please, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Yup. Grapefruit juice when using statin drugs (drugs used to lower cholesterol) is NOT recommended.
