Suspect white covering buds

Hi everyone,

I just got some L.A. Confidential and it looks awesome. exept some extra white crystals formation seems a bit random and whiter than anything i can remember having. The white is kinda outside, wich eliminates the dried fungi option. I tend to think it is mites webs remaining- or the crystaliestest buds i have ever seen and paranoia got me thinking the wrong way.

Cant find pics of mites eggs and web infested buds as well to compare on the web. Sooo, what do you think fc? Is that whiter than white something else than dense crystals?

I agree with Tweak. It looks like powdery mildew to me.

Unfortunately it is very common and is often present, but almost invisible unless you're really looking for it.

I have pointed out to people that didn't know that their bud had powdery, because I am used to looking for it on live plants. When the bud dries the powdery is much less visible.

I would take it back, if that is possible.

I worked something out with my guy. Returned. I kept a small sample with some suspect white to check when i receive my jeweler lens. I can than prove my friend it is not thc :wave:. Or to know i have returned the frostiest herb i ever had :doh:

Already pulled the trigger.. I read that 30x was good for checking if your crystals are ripe, plus i can just add a reg mag lens to double that 30x if need be to identify suspect white.

At least i will soon be able to know if my herbs are early or late harvest.

And I know, again, I can count on FC in moments of doubts. Really appreciated:cheers:

definably mildew. to make 100% sure put that on a glass jar and close it, then shake it. if its comes off to the glass powdery, its mildew. just toss it if it is, your health is more important then trying to "conserve" flowers.

Not much action. Im waiting for my 30x lenses from china. One for me and one for my guy.

Back when my guy said its nice crystals, i resold it to him and took a loss on it. Its the 1st time in 2 years there is something wrong with his stuff and i didnt want to pressure him with full refund. I wanted everyone to be happy and keep everything as was; he makes money doing what he does and i get nice to premium buds from him.

My guy then told me its was not clean and will take of me next time i see him.

I kept my sample in a jyarz and will try to post pics of 30x this white stuff mildew.

tx for telling me. For now, i will try to keep my small sample intact to inspect it with my lens as i would in a buying situation, but its always to have more than 1 way to reassure oneself.

I only maybe vaped one bowl of it (it wasnt everywhere). Vaping was out of the question once i saw weird white and got suspicious.

Yeah whether it's spider webs or mold, I wouldn't want it in my lungs!

The buds that are available to me always have a bit of the white residue, i just pluck out white bits and use it.
Checked with a botanist friend of mine (bottom line, saving the long winded explanation she provided) reckons it isn't an issue if you are heating it (more of an issue if you are ingesting without heating).

I can't really tell from the pic, but pm is usually only evident on the fan leaves as white spots. budrot will usually be grey/black/wet and inside the bud. Spider mites are more prevalent than people think. They don't necessarily hurt the quality of the flowers as much as yield and plant health. They typically stay to the fan leaves as well. While not something you like to think about, most of have consumed a mite or 2. If it wasn't a full blown infestation, you'd probably never know. Same w/ a lot of molds. I'm super sensitive and can usually tell right away, but others claim to taste nothing out of the ordinary. Ever get 'perfume' bud? smells like someone accidentally spilled perfume all over it? that is typically a mold as well. same w/ the licorice smell. Many years ago, I smoked some flowers before and after they molded. It was alright before and plain hallucinogenic afterwards. The health risks of using moldy flowers isn't worth it though.

I use an illuminated microscope several times a week and imo it's the best option. Under $20 on ebay or elsewhere. Don't get carried away on magnifaction. I get a 30x-100x and never really use it above 30x.

Too bad those aren't trichomes. My water cured buds look like that but darker. I love when the trichomes stick together.

could be something used in growing also

also kinda looks to me that someone sprayed sugar water on it to make it look better
