BHO Winterizing Process - Ethanol Safety Question

Hi All,

I've been doing some digging into winterizing BHO, and I'm a bit concerned about the step where an open container of 190 proof Everclear is kept in the freezer while the waxes and lipids are being filtered.

Isn't that step unsafe? I would be using my kitchen freezer which has a fan which I assume could spark the fumes. None of the written tutorials or youtube videos mention this as a precaution. Shouldn't I be concerned?

My wife would have my balls if I blew up the fridge or worse.

Ethyl Alcohol has a flashpoint (the lowest temperature where enough fluid can evaporate to form a combustible concentration of gas), of 55 F (and auto ignites at 689 F)

People (or should I say IDIOTS), blow up their freezers/houses/apts/garages when messing with butane because its flashpoint is -117 F (and auto ignites at 761 F)
