Discontinued The Herbalizer

lazylathe

Almost there...
I want to know just what you guys are talking about. I love taste and might want this for faster handling and conservative wise I feel like this might be my next vaporizer to purchase. I'll be saving up but meanwhile I would like to see if anyone has videos hitting the herbie with the whip connected to a HT/WT. Would you say it is better than just using the Arizer whip adapter to a bong/Glass piece? How long does it take until coloration of the whip starts to show? Would it be best to search for tubing alternatively instead of buying a new one when it is time (when whip builds up resin)?

I don't have any videos but this is how i hit Herbie these days, the whip is hardly used by itself anymore.
It started with a Pinnacle WT which was quite neat because the fan assist could power the small tube and you would not have to inhale to start it. It looked like a witches cauldron overflowing with vapor!

I then started to use my Swagger LE turbine with a GonG adapter on the end of the whip. Took a bit to get the tube going but it was awesome!

Next glass was a cheap Chinese bubbler that had very low drag and this improved the Herbie by leaps and bounds for me!

I then bought a piece of glass from Weed Star, cheap and cheerful and larger volume than the Chinese one. This bubbler has a bit more drag but it kicks my ass everytime! I seem to be able to achieve quite a dark ABV using this bubbler with Herbie.

Coloration of the whip depends upon the quality of herb.
High quality dank will casue it to discolor much quicker. I also found this to be true when using bags.
SO far i clean my tubing with a bit of ISO and then hot water and soap and it is nice and clean and smells fresh again.
The only issue i have with the tube is that it tends to soften up quite a bit with use and flops over easier when in use, not a big deal if you set up correctly.

So far Herbie is the easiest vape to clean and maintain that i own.
It is also the fastest heating up vape out there!

2 pieces of ssv size tubing (1.5-3 inches) to go over each end of the herbie whip/connector parts and you's hose kinking issues are a thing of the past my friend! :)

It does not bother me that much but i will try that tip!
I think someone else mentioned it a few pages back as well.

A kink in the tube is the only issue i have had with Herbie, so that is pretty amazing!!
Still loving Herbie!

Use the tubing until you feel it is too dirty, then clean it or replace it. I clean it.
If you want extras./... order extras, ... I did too!
The world is full of options for you, and our solutions may not be the same as your preferred answers!

Has anybody investigated alternative tubing? I found some for my sublimator that works better than the stock tube after I tried a few that weren't as good. If I find something that works, I will use it at home and save the stock tubing for travel since it fits inside easily. I think it would be great if herbalizer made the tubing available by length, and the connectors available separately as well as packaged together.

I added 12ft of the 1/4 ID x 3/8 OD high temp silicone tubing from PV for spare (hope it's right ;) ) http://www.planetvape.ca/silcon-high-temp-silicone-vaporizer-tubing.html

Sheeesh!! I know some people complain about the fan (doesn't bother me), but that's a little extreme to put the herbie 12 feet away in another room!
:p

Nah, I think that is smokum in the white shirt!

Here is a pic of my setup with the SSV tubing that everyone is referring to, I've been using it that way for at least a few weeks & it's holding up sturdy! Plus if it ever fails I still have a shitload of tubing left  The whip crimping was pretty much my only issue, which was exacerbated by my small room more or less necessitating the herbie to sit on a higher surface (a studio monitor) than probably most people's setups. Thanks for the suggestion Vitolo et all, you guys really helped me out!

Also I've been getting super fast at coiling the whip so that the lid closes neatly shut, at first the task was perhaps a bit finicky but now it's somehow become fun to do  I find the trick for me is starting from the bowl-connector end, wrapping tightly around the base and then tucking the mouthpiece under the hose so that it stays seated on its own. Over time, this process has evolved into a single motion that works every time & is kind of neat - I've really been appreciating the way I've been interacting with this device unlike any other vape, and it's definitely the first time I've noticed a vape interacting with me back! Herbie is almost like another character in the room! I could just be going insane though :ko:

With the whip-related issues now being taken care of, I've been a very happy Herbie-Head  Which means I've been spending my time medicating rather than posting! :leaf: :ninja: Speaking of which…

So my buddy made friends with a dope glass blower locally. I'm going to ask him if he can blow something for me similar to the pic I showed of the J-Arm extender a few pages back. Shouldn't be too crazy, just really taking what looks like a reducer and making the female side fit snug at the male exhaust on Herbie.

The part that I'm stuck on is how to make a perfect seal. See, if it was up to me I would create a ceramic top piece that looks almost exactly like the lid of your bowl now. Why use ceramic? Simple - if the top half or maybe even completely releasing an additional ceramic bowl with lid you could then make the top part a ConG (Ceramic on Glass).

The taste wouldn't be altered or affected like a pong and would still maintain the same look. Ceramic is also very easy to clean and holds heat extremely well. As far as the upper screen since ceramic is non-stick it could easily be drilled for ventilation therefore a screen wouldn't be needed.

So this hasn't happened since the first week I had my unit and has only happened 3 or 4 times total, but this morning, I was playing around with the temperature when suddenly the unit shot straight to 445 and stayed there. I was unable to change the temperature or turn the fan on. Turning the unit off and on would result in Herbie getting stuck at the "limited edition" startup screen. Couldn't get into either operating mode or run the fan. Unplugging the unit and plugging it back in seemed to fix the issue. This isn't a huge deal but I'm wondering if it has happened to anyone else?

@stickstones I was concerned about that too before I installed it but nope! It's just a set it once and forget it deal, still fits nicely in the whip storage groove even with the extra padding

I've had to unplug mine and plug it back in a few times,
because the screen will boot up but herbie is otherwise unresponsive sometimes when I shut it down by closing the lid and then opening it back up to activate it again.

I haven't had it get stuck that badly. Mine has frozen on the "Limited Edition" start up screen once or twice, but it was easily fixed by closing and reopening the clam.

Haven't seen that one but I have had some other small button glitches where a quick restart always gets it back to 100%.

This happens to me if i press down on the temp bar for too long.
I now adjust by pressing the +/- and watching the progress and release when i get close to the temp i want.
When ,ime does go a bit crazy a simple unplug reset Herbie and she behaves well again!

Happened to me once and the same thing fixed it.

Slow-mo is sexy!

@Fine Grind -- It looks like you have to remove and install the ssv tubing with each use, yes? How much of a pain is that? I guess it slides off easily and is not a tight fit?

I think maybe he only has tubin on one end of the hose, not both?

I leave my extra tubing on both ends and it still wraps up fine when i put it away. just a little more snug. I also prefer the reverse winding method. I found i was always tucking the end under the other bit of hose to keep it out of the way of closing the lid otherwise. reverse winding FTW!

I use 3 bits of ssv tubing. one in my 14mm downstem (sitting out the top) probably 1.5- 2 inches long. this is for using in my glass.

then one on both ends of the whip to stop hose kink. works a charm and the "whip on glass adapter" fits inside the white herbalizer storage case for on the go too!

Thx for sharing man, a simple reboot fixed it eh? sounds software related. glad it's rare for you! I had had a slight issue, but not that one. have you told the team about it yet? what did they say?

no I had had an issue with the plug (the outlet side of the cord) not fitting snugly into the power outlets though. this means I lose power of the powerbar gets wiggled during use.

or sometimes when I go to turn it on, it wont . i check the cord, and give it a wiggle and presto. im back in power again.
