Makes sense. I don't stuff the whole stem totally full, usually either one whole piece that fills it 1/2 - 2/3, and sometimes a small pile of 3-5 pieces. If you grind you get more surface area which means you could stuff more in there (unless you completely compact the nug against the inside of the stem). I don't seem to be using much more than normal but haven't been doing this for long enough to really say.

Takes more material to cover the same amount surface area. Id imagine the average initial load is larger for whole vs ground.

Personally I grind if I want a big hit or crush a nugget in there if not. The solo seems to extract either pretty evenly.

<science>Mass of a fixed volume depends on the density of the material contained</science>
<guesswork> so less air = more herb = probably more mass.
My bet would be that you'd get more in after grinding depending on packing technique and it would have a larger surface area for vapour?
Not sure that makes it more 'economical' to grind because it depends on what you want to optimise - the extraction might be more efficient with larger surface but the dose might also be larger.

Hi Guys,

Really need your help/opinion again on choosing a bubbler, the AliExpress order is just not happening. They are still validating account before i have to place the order for the bubbler again. So in the meantime i came across other bubblers also, that too from the UK! They are roughly all the same price.

However, as a noob i have no idea what makes for a better bubbler for my solo. This is where i need your opinions. I have listed what i thought were the best ones i came across. Can you guys please say which one out of them you would buy:

D-20
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/D-20...ubbler-ash-catcher-percolator/1626392310.html

Ziggi Stemless Shower Head Diffuser Bubbler by Grace Glass
http://www.everyonedoesit.co.uk/onl...er-head-diffuser-bubbler.cfm?iProductID=11022

Weed Star Skinny Mentalist Beaker - 18.8mm 8 Arm Percolator
http://www.alibongo.co.uk/catalog/w....html?oscsid=0fc6116822459e394dfdbc0559011386

Black Leaf - Flaming Skull 4 Arm Percolator Bong
http://www.everyonedoesit.co.uk/onl...ll-4-arm-percolator-bong.cfm?iProductID=10897

Grace Glass Clear 8 Arm Tree Percolator Bong (with a free padded case)
http://www.everyonedoesit.co.uk/onl...arm-tree-percolator-bong.cfm?iProductID=11018

Grace Glass Spiral Perc Bong - Black
http://www.everyonedoesit.co.uk/onl...spiral-perc-bong---black.cfm?iProductID=10757

Now my personal favourites are the Weed Star Skinny, as the size seems small and the vaping pipe is bent rather then straight down the middle (i though it would be easier to vape if you are to the side of the bubbler rather then right on top of it). But hey what do i know?!

I also like the Grace Glass as it comes with a case to store it away.

So which one would you choose? or maybe the D-20 is still the best one?

Thanks

The Ziggi Stemless looks neat, also good size. The others seem a tad big. I made the mistake of getting a Weedstar Lil Illusion with shower perc. It not a huge pipe, but the size combined with the draw resistance make it pretty uncomfortable for vaping. She's still nice for that one big hit, but it just gets exhausting after a while. I mainly use the waterfilter + sherlock mouthpiece combo I got with my vape. This might be worth a consideration as well.

Thanks for your feedback guys, yeah thought it would be one out of the Ziggi, Weedstar and the D-20.

To be honest, i didn't really like the ziggy coloured pattern on the pipe and centre of the bowl. Is that just for design or does it actually have a use? Apart from that the ziggi was the one i was going to go for..

I have had my black leaf for over 2 years and use it still.
My D020 was $28 delivered? Use this lately.
I have an expensive piece I broke on the 2nd session so I this it's a waste of money to buy any glass over $100.

Some spend $1000's and so be it.
Just get something that works?
Grace makes nice stuff.
First one go cheap!
7mm glass wall thickness.
No less than 5mm.

Best practice for battery charging? Wait until charge light to charge? Or charge when battery power light is at one?

Thanks

Does anyone know if it is possible to get a hold of the cap alone? I think I ruined the threads on mine when I tried to put the O-ring in there, now my cap just spins around and I have to secure it with a rubber band...:(

You can squeeze a session out of a Solo when it has 0 power left. Charge from there, up until the 7th light lights up and the charge led is blinking but not solid.

No, I don't think it's possible. Caps don't interchange, I've seen it twice now (twice I've had two different Solos that wouldn't interchange). I've mentioned this a couple of times. My guess is the caps and tubes are made in batches?

You might try a turn or two of Teflon 'plumber's tape' on the threads or gently distorting the cap (make it out of round) in more than two places if possible.

Good luck with it.

The ASH COLLECTOR was more than the Bubbler!

I have a spare cap for M107 series. Different series are slightly different sizes.

It's really not that simple. I've twice held two of 'the same model' (serial numbers about 400 apart IIRC) that would not interchange. In one case you could get 'the wrong cap' on part way and it would stay (the other fell off). In the other case there was no joy either way.

The caps also tend to vary in thickness, which to me further indicates changes......again right 'in the middle of a model run'.

The threads seem to taper (like pipe threads do) which has advantages sometimes.

Guys also report some units tend to cross thread easily, no doubt for the same fit reasons, my 'everyday Solo' is like this. I have to be careful putting the cap on as it'll 'start two ways'.

Best idea is, I think, to use the cap it came with if at all possible. It may need changing the body and cap as a set?

Good luck with it.

Sorry to all for being such a moronic dimwit on this issue, but can't the poster just order the GDamn cap from Arizer or web vendor? Send them a pic and serial number, say a prayer to God and keep tabs on the local mailman? Why does this have to be so Fkn complicated? Cap screw is stripped - change it, get a new one! Are we suggesting that Arizer is so inept that they can't be relied upon to supply a correctly-sized replacement cap? So simple I would think. Life is TOO SHORT - order it and forget it! Peace & love!

EDIT: On reflection I feel my post above was definitely coming from a harsh mental state at the time of writing, and as such may well have been taken as uncomplimentary on a personal level. My apologies, and I do hope that anyone who has a Solo cap problem has an easy path to resolution.

@OF I have 3 different serial numbers over a 2 1/2 year spread and since I added the seal all three work the same!
