Vaping Vitamins?

Hi,

Thank you for reading my thread. I'm researching the effects of vaporizing vitamins as to swallowing them. The actual chemical process of what happens to the vitamins as they are passed through the atomizer, etc etc. Are there any physical chemistry professionals out there that can give me some insights?

Your time and comments are greatly appreciated, thank you.

I've actually discussed this with a few people in the science/health field since a lot of e-cig vendors are trying to add vitamins/caffeine/etc to e-liquids.

I'm told there is NO benefit to vaping vitamins or supplements. They need to pass through your digestive system to work and inhalation of them is not desirable nor beneficial. These are well respected folk and I believe them 100%.

Swallow your vitamins and inhale your herb IMHO.

Hi Lo,

Thank you for your response to this thread. I'm very interested in this topic and I was wondering if you could forward my info to the people you have discussed with. I want to more in depth. Please let me know if that is a possibility. I appreciate your response. Thank you.

The people I spoke with were scientists and in the context of working with a non-profit I volunteer with. They both agree that vitamins are better off swallowed. It was discussed during a group meeting. Something about molecule size, lung absorbtion not likely. I was told it would be best if e-cig liquid vendors stopped trying to add things to juice and that most of it was strictly a marketing ploy with no real benefits to the user.

You can google or search on ECF for more info on vitamins/supplements & inhalation. Some people believe in it but the majority of people seem to gravitate towards the idea that it's not wise.

I wasn't asked, but here I go anyways...

Molecule size aside, vitamins are best utilized with food plain and simple. For example, fat soluble vitamins such as D, need to be taken with a fat in order to be absorbed by your body effectively. You just can't accomplish this sort of thing with vaporizing. If you look at any vitamin D supplement that is intended to be taken on the go, you will notice it is packaged with a carrier oil.

This is a good place to start for an education in vitamins:
