because SCS and massdrop operate in the same area they can pick up the nails reducing the time it would normally take for the company to ship it to massdrop. I am really hoping they offer us Canadians expedited shipping, otherwise we won't get them before xmas.

This is just what I heard.

Im beginning to think your one of there reps. @NickM

All these sales when I didn't have the $$. Thinking this will be "the one that got away", this holiday season. At that price, still kicking myself.

Aww shit @Silver420Surfer, I didn't see that you missed out. That sucks, I hope you signed on to MD and requested that they do the drop again. I hit the button for ya, they're already up to 10 requests. I was going to say that I'd sell you mine if I end up not liking it, but that's not true. If I thought it was a bad product I would never sell it to anyone!

Right on, mrboote! After I posted an ad in the Classifieds to see if anyone bought an extra, a very special person contacted me to spread holiday cheer. So it looks like I may not be missing out after all. WOOT! WOOT!

Yea I'm not one of their reps. I was the second one in the drop and I was just trying to help it gain traction, I doubt it would have taken off like it did had I not advertised it.

Mine arrived yesterday. I love this thing. It might replace all my other nails. Giving my brother my DualiTi as a gift here shortly. More testing to determine if its better than the Infiniti.
I'm curious to find out why you like it better.

Good: The design of the nail's head is quite nice, really does keep the mess off of the joint. The center "bull's eye" portion heats quickly.

Bad: Even though I was forewarned (can't seem to find the post now, I think it was edited out) it still bugs me that this nail isn't 100% steady on a 18mm male joint. That flaw will keep me from recommending this product universally.

So complete noob question, is there anything I should do before use? It didn't ship with directions, but just wondering if it needs cleaning iso or just burn with a torch. If ya'll could send me in the right direction i'd appreciate it

You'll want to season it first. There's different methods but essentially you heat up the nail, let it cool down a bit and then paint/dab reclaim (or oil) in the center of the nail without inhaling it. Let it sit for a minute or so then torch it again and repeat a few times.

Thanks alot seems straight forward, didnt want to risk damaging this sweet new nail. Gonna search key word season, seasoning and do some reading.

For the Canadians here, mine just cleared customs and should be arriving in the next few days. Also you can check the tracking number on the Canada Post website too which will give you more detailed information.

I am very happy with my purchase of the Santa Cruz Shredder Omni nail. It quickly replaced my other name brand domeless once it arrived, not because my name brand domeless was inferior, but because the SCS Omni is just that much better for MY use. From it's hefty feel and "stanley cup" look, to the certified gr 2 titanium and reduced heat transfer(it WILL get HOT doing back to back to back dabs, be careful), FOR ME, this nail's a winner.

Missed out on the Massdrop(thankfuly, lol), then a very cool dude offered me up such a sweet deal that I didn't care about missing the MD. Kudos to you, my FC friend!

@mvapes_Your original post about the SCS Omni Nail got me looking into getting one.
Good call, man!!:tup::tup:

I keep feeling guilty about shilling for this product in order to get a better price for myself. Now that "the drop" is back on, want to make sure everybody knows the score. I tried asking the company directly about my concerns and received no reply.

They are calling it "the world's best domeless nail" on their website. I call bullshit.

Here's a link to a vid @mvapes made, that massdrop has posted on their site in order to sell this product. You can see quite clearly how unsteady the nail is. Imagine how pissed you'd be if you bought this to use on a rig with angled joint?

I am still on the fence about this one...if some more members could shime in that have purchased this in the previous drop to give their opinion?

Would probably be using it mostly on female joints probably...but you never know who comes to visit and what glass they may bring with them...

@tepictoton, the nail works great on any female joint, or on a 14mm m joint. For your situation I think you'll be satisfied, I use mine frequently and am still enjoying it. My intent was certainly not to bash this company, but to increase awareness among my fellow consumers.

It definitely wobbles a bit on 18mm males. I think it would be fine to use on a friend's piece but I wouldn't personally use it for daily use. The shaft is a bit wobbly too at first but becomes sturdy once oil builds up on the threads. I find this is less of a concern than a wobbly base.

I'm mainly using this with 14mm female joints and the fit is fine and it pops out pretty easily. As for the nail itself, I love it! I came from a Dual-Ti that I used for heavily for a week, I just find it heats and vaporizes the oil better in the center cup than the outer ring. Seems to keep it cleaner too since the oil only occupies a small area.

For carb caps I tried both the HE Carb Cap and the MiniCap and the latter is definitely the way to go. In the regular sized one the intake holes are lines up so the air isn't getting to the oil when it's completely on. It worked slightly better if I angled it at a 45 degree angle with the carb intake hole pointing up. The MiniCap is nearly the same diameter as the OminiNail so it can take a bit of shifting to get a perfect seal but when you do it's perfect. The carb hole lines up better with the center where the oil is and I think the smaller size helps a lot too. I found using a V3 1.75" shaft and counterweight instead of a carb dabber made it easier to get the cap into the proper position and keep it there since I can press down on the counterweight with my finger.

It only fits 3 of my 6 18mm males pieces. Don't fit on any of my 3 18mm female dewaars. Good on all 14mm males/females.

The head is machined in two parts and bad luck for me I got it separated from a season/hot torching after I received it. So they send me a new one. I have been careful not to overheat but the two parts are moving, it's not a tight fit, I can turn all the way. I just hope this one doesn't end up in two pieces like the first.

@Monsoon How much of a difference the carb cap makes ?

I like to aim my inner flame tip at the middle of head and heat the bottom portion till I see a very slight color change. Then I wait 50 seconds to a full minute before I dab. I like to place it between the holes, it seems to retain even more heat here. It's almost more flavorfull than a carb capped hit on my classic dome+Ti setup.

I'm disappointed about the fittings but it performs ! It's the fattest vapor clouds I've been exhaling, you get a lot from just a little.
