Alternatives to Hydratubes, PN Water tools, F-Bombs and the likes

There isn't a dedicated thread for this style of glass; since I'm looking for hydratube style glass to add to my collection I thought I'd make a thread.

VXH makes a huge selection of hydratubes. The Vaporblunt makes the PN WT and other tubes (I don't believe the others have standard gong sizes). F-Bombs can be purchased from planetvape.ca. Glassblowersdirect makes a 12" tube with a showerhead and another with a fritted disc.

These are the only ones that I'm aware of and of course none satisfy my needs/wants. VXH Hydratubes are out of my price range, I'd prefer to have an 18mm joint so that takes the PN WT and F-Bomb out of the equation. I already have a frit and the GBD showerhead just doesn't do anything for me, but is an 18mm.

Tubes like this seem to be becoming more popular as they can be paired with so many different vapes on the market.

Does anyone know of any other alternatives? Am I overlooking anything?

the vapor blunt tubes are 18mm. the single showerhead is $150 but I have heard that vapor blunt is doing a black Friday sale on everything, I don't have any more details on the sale though. aside from that you could watch the classifieds or find a local blower to make you something custom. I believe that.VXH has a patent on the hydratube but that is so hard to enforce (PV had licensed it to make the f-bomb and I assume vapor blunt did as well, GBD apparently is in violation. This all came from either max or pak but I can't remember which one of them)

Thanks for clarifying, yes I'm waiting for black friday sales.

I knew about the VXH patent - GBD's design of its fritted water tool is designed differently than the VXH hydratube so I don't think that one is in violation, but their showerhead might be. There are plenty of tubes with 40mm joints that are capable of stacking, maybe something like this would work with an adapter? These types of bongs have been around for a while and is why I have a problem with VXH's patent but I digress.

I haven't had the urge to contact a blower yet, I'm not looking to go that route at this point

good point on the fritted tube, I was referring to the showerhead one. I bet Sam at GBD would make an adapter for you so you could use one of the assassin perc chambers.
That is actually a great idea, with one adapter you could get a bunch of the different assassin chambers and have different "hydratubes" to fit your mood. Looks like I know where all my money is going after the holidays are over.

It's not really a bong/waterpipe. You can't just add a bowl and smoke out of it.

and is why I have a problem with VXH's patent
I think it's just patent pending. And I don't know why you'd have a problem with it. Do you think that otherwise there'd be a flood of HT options out there? I doubt it. It's not a versatile design but instead one for a specific application. If it's not worthy of a patent there won't be one, and if it's approved then I guess it's more original than you think.

Great idea for a thread! I think VXH can certainly patent the name "hydratube", but beyond that I don't know. I am certainly no expert, but it seems it would be difficult to patent glass. Look how many knock-offs there are now of popular designs.

I have a Swagger Showercap coming tomorrow. I'll post some pics here to keep this thread going in the right direction. :)

WOW I feel like you made this post just to attack me without contributing to the thread - admittedly I am ignorant to the status of their patent but I didn't trash the company or anything like that. I don't agree with all of the components of US patent law, especially when it concerns something that borders on the edge of art. You can't patent a painting or sculpture... I think this is akin to DG and his fritted disc. And I never alluded to their patent having an effect on the market.

When I said bong I was referring to something like GBD's Assassin Line (stated in the sentence preceding your quote) which has removable mouthipeces with percs built in. Bongs like this have been around for a long time. Isn't a Hydratube exactly what I described in the last sentence but with an 18mm joint? I think its less original than you believe; but hey I'm entitled to my own opinion too.

@Tstat I'm all for trademarking the name but that is different than patenting a design

I just made this thread to gain some more knowledge about Hydratube-esque pieces, not to start shit; thanks for the contributions so far!

I'm just correcting your statement that a tube is a bong, and that there's a patent on VXL's HT. Nothing new for me. I've been challenging statements like this on forums for years and don't plan to quit. It's a big part of what forums are about-getting the info correct.

Something like this with an adapter or different size joint would be nice! Its only $80 at GBD!

Dude I never called the tube a bong, I'm saying they're the mouthpiece. The Hydratube=the removable mouthpiece with perc NOT the base used for smoking. I mentioned using one of those mouthpieces (GBD assassins) with an adapter, which would make it identical to a tube. I didn't title the thread "Hydratube and PN water tool Bongs" because I know they aren't the same thing. Thank you for clarifying about the patent (I didn't dispute this) but you blew what I said so far out of proportion. Now I'm going to slowly back away.

Yeah "bongs that implement hydratube style mouthpieces have been around for a while..." apparently I was not clear enough.

Edit: I'm sorry for my hastily typed sentence, I see how it could have been misinterpreted and I have now clarified. Can we move on?

simba is actually a newish glass company. My local shop carries all their stuff and I actually have a simba matrix and love it for vaping with various vapes and dabs. They make really nice scientific glass with heady coloring and really nice heady rigs and oil hand pipes. I've used one of their fritted bubblers before and it's fantastic. I can't wait to pick one of these bad boys up. Props to VB for getting simba to make these

I know this thread is for alternatives to Hydratubes, but I'll post a couple of pics here anyway. It's a Swagger hyrdatube (showecap). I friggin love this thing! Very little water, cool perc action and amazing flavor:

Has anyone got one of the f-bombs in the 18mm joint? I noticed its an option now on planetvape... Wondering if that makes the tube a little beefier... That would be nice :D

Anyone tried this? I'm assuming it's 18mm on the male end but how tall is it? Seems to out class the F-bomb and Pinnacle water tool.

I don't think its still available through gbd. The joint was larger than 18.8mm. Can't think of the size off the top of my head.

I abandoned this idea after this thread went to shit. Its still a viable option if you can find that attachment for the right price. I'm positive that Oregon glass blower could make an adapter for a piece like this. I would still like to have one if you can manage to locate something like this. Please keep me updated if you decide to pursue this!

I can add it to my cart on GBD, so i'm really itching to pull the trigger. If only I knew the size. Now i'm starting to look at some of their other products, except with a base attached. Can I ask if the Direct Inject pieces use standard male adapters?
