Ascent Vaporizer by DaVinci

Can anyone please confirm the dimensions of the glass outer tube of the Ascent.
Overall length.
Stem diameter.
Flange Mouthpiece diameter

All figures are approximate. One measurement per sample.

Stock stem*:
Length 65.18mm
Outside stem diameter: 7.75mm
Inside diameter: 6.15mm
Wall thickness at base: 1.66mm
Flange diameter: 10.18mm

* Note: keep in mind they have changed the stem and might do so again. This sample is collected from *ONE* stem.

14mm GonG adapter:
Length outside the range of my digital calipers
Outside stem diameter: 9.07mm
Inside diameter: 6.46mm
Wall thickness at base: 1.63mm
Flange diameter: 14.14mm*

* At max width. Narrower end of taper is 12.00mm.

Keep in mind this is a very unscientific sample of 1 (one), for each of these. Obviously, there is some allowance for variance in parts that these numbers DO NOT reflect.

YMMV.

EDIT:

of the glass outer tube of the Ascent.

For simplicity's sake there are two stems: The "draw stem" and the "screen stem."

The outer glass stem is the sipping stem, the extraction stem, the outer stem, the whatever stem, but always the draw stem. (Regardless of whether one is using the stock or one of the GonG, or whatever one can concoct.)

@nigel

Thank you very much for taking the dimensions of the stock draw stem and the gong piece also.

This was very helpful.

You read my mind.

I was looking a whip adapter that has very close dimensions to the gong stem that you measured.

I really appreciate your help with this.

Thanks again.

I bought more of the pipe screen glass flowers. I bought the 40 pkg. The price was cheap, I should have bought more because they break easy or get lost. With shipping and tax just a little over $5. I was ordering other things and didn't realize how cheap they were. I see some are double stem.

I have small hands and fingers and still the glass flowers are hard to handle and put in the Ascent. I usually put them in a soda cap, then dump them in. When taking out, I dump the abv and flowers on a dry wash cloth so they don't skid across the table. A small tray would be ideal, I may look for one.

Check out about 2 pages back how low the heat goes down #4886 was the post. It shows Ofs pictures he took while taking the temp before and after a draw with the Ascent. The unit needs recovery time after a draw. if the temp is too low you are not going to get clouds.

Make sure you use dry herb, I grind mine with a grinder to a cornmeal consistency.

In the U.S we've been getting them through Amazon. If you can't go through them you might try DHgate.com, I see they have something similar. I'm not sure if it fits the Ascent. You will have to do some investigating. When looking type in: tobacco glass pipe screen flowers, and see what you get.

Shipping is the problem it's as expensive as the glass screens themselves.

I've used glass beads that I found at a hobby shop. They worked fine, I just was concerned about toxicity or if the glass would break. There is always the glass oil can to use as a spacer. Cotton works well as a filler.

Sometimes I use hemostats for placing and extracting the glass flowers.

Yes, that would work. Our members could always use tweezers, doubt if they would have access to hemostats, isn't that a surgery instrument?

Hey guys so basically i was able to finally try out the dab attachment that goes along with my ascent vape. However, I seem to have not closed the lid properly when placing the glass dab jar in the oven and after using it, I checked the oven and tried to take out the jar only to notice that it was completely stuck to the oven. Any suggestions on how I may be able to remove remove the glass jar from the oven? Thanks!

gary803,
Has anyone seen the Youtube Video; it has a lady in it, I think it is before the Ascent was actually released and it is from the company trying to build up hype. She demo's it, and the Vapor she blows though is almost unbelievable, It has to be smoke? She continually does it at least 5-8 times in a row. It does not look like she loads that much herb and the Ascent looks like its set on 380 degrees F. Has anyone else seen this video? or know what im taking about???

Yes I saw it, and I personally have had no problems with the vapor. I also have a PAX and prefer it over the PAX but you must draw slowly. I also pack the herb tight/ So I prefer the vapor and the flow through air design of the Acent as the PAX at times fees liking your sucking the end of a garden hose. That being said I am now using the PAX as the Ascent stopped heating up and I just sent it back for a replacement.

Although I like the Ascent better (when it works) I am puzzled by several design flaws
1) It does not stand up on its own so is awkward to load
2) You need a screen on top or I read some people are using cotton to keep herbs from getting sucked up into your mouth..I was using screens and lost them...so now I pack it down and inhale slowly which helps...but it seems like a major flaw in design to me. With the PAX is grind the herb finely for better combustion but with the Ascent I cant or I get a mouthful. I wrote them about this and they said inhale slowly or use a screen>

I'm not saying this is the case here, but some makers looking to make 'huge clouds' for the camera have been accused of 'spiking' the load with "juice" (either PG or VG).

The stuff is used in stage 'fog machines' for heaven's sake, it can be counted on to make lots of thick vapor easily.

Cat litter (with or without lumps) would also product huge clouds in those conditions.

Likewise, at least one maker used to use Pure Gold for his demos, no longer a practice I think?

IMO you should put a LOT more credence in the reports of owners you trust around here than some marketing video of the past.

The Ascent can put out that much vapor clouds. Maybe not quite so close together though.

Maybe it wasn't weed? Glass screens help for sure

Yup, and available online ;) I mean we can get büchner filters online for solventless dewaxing so small hospital items shouldn't be hard to find...

I'm a simple guy. When I was testing Nigel's unit I'd dump the still warm load into the top of a candy tin (about 3 inches in diameter, nice French Lemon Drops.....). Shaking it a bit spreads stuff out (so the ABV doesn't stick to the flowers). By the time I'd found the ground herb I was ready to reload. The flowers could be plucked out by finger tip as needed. No need for tools, it only takes maybe two minutes in the tin lid to be plenty cool.

By working on it still warm stuff isn't stuck together. I like to reload for the next session before putting a vape away, I suspect most guys do it the other way around? Try at least emptying it hot (or at least warm), i think you'll find it works easier.
