Guy above me...YES. You can by the "upgrade kit" from W9s website

Upgrade your Hercules SR-71 to the latest and greatest SR-74. This kit inludes the Self Adjusting bottom adapter as well as a self adjusting center post. These two parts reduce the chances of your Hercules SR series of not working.

Requires for you to send in your current 7.4v Rod

Hey guys just got home, a GoPro oring from the hardware works perfect for the post on the Okeanos too. Gonna wait on that video for a bit, my knees hurt bad tonight. Loads of running at work. @DatOilVape if ya need me bro pm me here, or Skype me. Pm me to get Skype info.

=)

EDIT 2....a GoPro ring does work IF YOU screw it down firm....but not tight. Tight and it bumps the o ring above the threads onto the tube itself. Otherwise.....works like a champ! Pretty nice difference too!

Thanks, I had seen that but was wondering about the other changes made like the top cap (screw on instead of press fit). I thought I remember some trade in deal, but it's probably that kit that was referred to.

Hi G,
Today, I wanted to once again orde runtil I saw that the shipping cost has been increased.

Is this a bug or the 94$ are the cheapest option to Europe because of 34 dollars UPS on an old invoice.

thx forward

Ok guys I am trying to get back in the game.

A while ago i purchased a persei from a local shop and had a wonderful experience. I fell away from the persei due to the availability of reasonably priced concentrates diminishing.

I believe i have the older top model and therefore would need a new top if i wanted to purchase and use an sr-74?

Put in a ticket and have W9 swap out your Persei top(s).

I don't have the 74 but in the 71 when that happens if you turn the screw on the bottom of your Herc about a half turn counter clockwise it makes better connection. That is IF the 74 has that prob still. You said core. What voltage are you running at? Try 7.4 and leave it there to test. Good luck man
No screws on the sr74. The bottom adapter has spring loaded contacts instead if the screws. So that solution is only for the sr71.
The Herc 3.7v works but there is a small learning curve. @Mynameismud is the resident 3.7v king as he is able to get clouds on 3.7v.
Yes sir! I love taking the herc out with my SS tube. Its so much stealthier. The first few hits require a bit of priming. I find i have to hold the button for about 2-5 seconds without inhaling. Then puff a few time and vapor forms. Then just hold the button down and go! After the first hit you dont really need to preheat, just puff a little before inhaling. Even my newbie friends can get the hang of it (not so much from a cold start though)

The white rod is much more user friendly, production wise. But you have to deal with leaks, Burning oil and running through oil and batteries rapidly (not sure about the 74 white rod though)

I have had it leak exactly one time with the black rod and thats cause i overloaded it big time. Batteries last longer with the black rod and the hits are comparable or better than using a nail and carb cap. Almost impossible to burn. The only downside is that the oil tends to run up the walls.

If anyone needs help with the black rod feel free to pm mE.

Side note. Thought i was getting my okeanos and ti coils but it turns out it was just my replacement top. Bummed and happy at the same time. Wooo no more misfires (fingers crossed) thanks for dealing with my annoyances and taking care of me @THC SCIENTIFIC

ok so even tho i didnt buy it from their website and it was probably over a year ago i can still file a ticket and get new ones? Thats awesome if so. I guess it does make sense since it is defective.

The tops arent defective, they were just invented before the Hercules cart and werent designed to accommodate its beastly power draw.

Anyway I dont work for W9, so I cant speak as to their policy, but they have been really good about replacing and upgrading tops as long as the place you got it from is an authorized retailer. Id put in a ticket regardless, and will defer to @THC SCIENTIFIC and @nao12000 for more detailed info.

The momentum is finally on our side. Carpe diem!
Two questions with one sub can solve this issue, what voltage are you using?

And can you show me your rod placement

And if you have the center pin inside the center post?

I'm using 7.4v on core. Woke up to discover my freshly "repaired" less than a year old HP laptop won't boot at all again, so getting pictures posted is going to be a challenge. The ceramic rod is placed as described in SR-71 instructions included, with bottom contact and thin white band of ceramic below compression nut. Ceramic rod contact completely compresses gold spring contact below when assembled. Have to drive to Visalia to help a friend move and will check back when I can. Will try to post pics later, but I'm sure ceramic rod is making contact. If I move it down further it won't screw all the way together, so it's pushing that spring down that transfers current for sure. :(

i got the call from my LHS that the w9tech stuff they ordered had arrived and i was out the door in under 3 minutes to drive over.

Okeanos looks great. I got the 3.7v thinking to use it on a shorty tube.

(edit added)
on the second load, sucked some oil up into the tube. i need to keep the load lower.

oh and, this thing is heavier than i had expected

Just got a Persei / Hercules SR-74 combo and loving it so far. I noticed in the user guide that is says don't charge any batteries other than the stock batteries with the supplied charger. Can I get away with charging my AW IMR 18350's or will that cause a meltdown? If not, does anyone have any recommendations on a charger for the 18350's?

Thanks for the link, not a bad price I'll definitely keep it in mind. Is it necessary to get a new charger or will the charger that came with the Persei charge the AW IMR 18350's?

I never had a problem charging aw's with the stock charger. It just takes longer and remember to keep an eye on it so it doesnt overcharge and damage the batteries.

Also, based on @OF's description of what an 'AW' battery actually is I cannot see why it would be harmful to charge in the stock charger.

So I've got the SR-74 up and running but I was hoping I could get some general advice. I put one coil in there and added about .3 to .4 of a gram of pretty buttery wax. I took some slow pulls and got that melted in, then I added another .2 to .3 grams on top of that. I've been hitting it for a bit with mixed results. I've gotten a few monster rips, some whispy rips and some burned/toasted tasting ones. The longest I've held the button is 3 seconds at a time at most. I've never owned an SR-Anything so I'm a noob when it comes to this thing. I know I've seen various rundowns like the one I'm hoping for already posted on this thread, but of course I can't find them when I need them. If someone wants to drop some science on me or just tell me what page you already posted this type of info that would be much appreciated!

Well, the USPS has somehow turned my 2-day priority mail into 7-day snail mail. As of today, my Okeanos is finally in the correct state, so it should be here Monday. I read something about some water leakage. Has everyone with an Okeanos experienced this or is it only a few cases? Any experience with that, @Sleepin in CA ?
