Discontinued The Sublimator

Reasons why is because they got good shit subbin through those waxes and herbs. I cough too. You need to understand that the main thing the Sublimator can do for you is make you feel like you are smoking again except without the carcinogens and what not. Pure THC rushing to your lungs will always automatically make you cough. That is just what happens if you inhale a lung full. Some take their time and don't cough or if so it usually stops faster than you would cough from smoking a blunt, pipe, or bong. Always depends on the user and their preference. The smoothness we are talking about is the delivering of the vapor and how without the need of water makes it even more smoother to intake. Of course holding onto those huge amount of clouds will eventually make you cough. That's how the THC gets delivered to your brain and the rest of the body. Sorry for the literal explanation.
No, don't be,
That was a great explanation, It makes a lot of sense now.

:science: According to my colleagues, I have ridiculous lung capacity.
And my strain atm is top shelf, a white widow hybrid.

My one-hitters are ~twice as big as theirs if I want them to be, without any coughing.
All I can say is that my lung capacity ~doubles when I sub through water.

I'm sure that enrico and mm have higher tolerance than I do.
But based on those videos I'm also sure that I can take bigger flower hits than they can,
without any gross coughing!

Good point,
I almost forgot, I haven't seen Enrico cough once before, so I guess everybody is different in this regard.

Same here. The only thing that made me cough was smoke. I can take ridiculously large hits from the Sub, the EVO or the Underdog without any irritation. I'd be interested to see how I'd fair in a dab session with Enrico, but with the concentrates I've made myself it dosen't matter how big the hit is.

Usually the only times I tend to cough w/ the sub is when I just take in too large of a hit, or if I have the temp up a little too hot for my usual enjoyment. I just did a much deeper cleaning on my atomizer, turns out the build up was thicker and more baked on than I realized, and I resorted to removing the cone/bowl portion of the atomizer and torching it to get the crud stuck inside to finally cook off and let go. It just makes all the difference having a full open air path and exposed metal.

just noticed this vid...

I'm looking into PBW. How many ounces should I buy? 2 oz or 1 lb? 1 oz to a gallon is the ratio?

Just cleaned my tube, atomizer, and Apollo. Gave everything a nice clean except the very inside of the atomizer downstem. Didn't want to fuck with my sublimate flow. Got a nice blob going.

The cleaning made a huge diferrence and was needed. My screens were getting clogged super quick because all the residual gunk in the bowl area. Everything is improved with a thorough cleaning. Time for more rips.
Get 1lb, should be around $10. It should last a long time and it's good for other things too. I usually fill a loaf dish with boiling water, mix in a teaspoon of pbw and place the stem and atty in the bath. I usually put some extra in the atty too. A couple 5 minute washes with some scrapping in between usually gets it looking like new.

Monsoon,
Hey Peoples,
I've been lurking long enough to read the entire thread. I ordered and finally received one of the newer Sublimator XLR's about a week ago.
I like it very much and have enjoyed getting the hang of it. I haven't tried any concentrates yet but plan to soon enough.
One thing I would like to ask of the Sublimator community is to consolidate some good hard information about how get the ball rolling, as well as tips, tricks experiences we have learned along the way.
A lot of the info is parsed thru-out this thread, but it is long enough at this point to warrant an edit on the first page, or maybe a new thread.

I would like to start by giving my experiences with my set up. I got the full rig with the plastic bong. I really tried to like it but finally just took the top off, doing away with the whip and began using as a bong even though it has a pretty rough edge.
I would suggest that Sublimator make some plastic ring that the user can place over the top. With that said, the electric heating element is pretty close to eye level when taking a hit. I am looking around for something to replace the plastic set-up it came with. My thinking, had I to do it over, is to purchase the guts of the system and get the appropriate glass rig to complement.
As it stands right now I have found my sweet wattage spot to be between 34 and 35. But this is just with flowers. What are other peoples experiences?
With the new XLR, apparently the warm up time is reduced. I sure hope so because this and the 1 hour shut off are really really poor design choices.
So if I am to begin cold with my XLR and I turn it on to maximum, how long will it take before I can reasonably set to my desired temp, and even then how long is it till it is at the optimum temp to take a hit?
With the auto shut off how are people circumventing that inconvenience? Kitchen timer set for an hour and run in and turn it back on before it cools off? Do you do a session, turn it off and then back on right away?
Thank you for taking the time to read!

I think you're the first person in the thread with a new XLR so there will likely be a few questions for you as well ;) Heat up time and the new auto-shut off options for the new unit are unknown so you'll have to test it out and let us know.

Can you provide some info on how the power switch works? If you plug it in, does it turn on right away or do you have to press the power button first? If it's the former then Wemo is a possibility makes it a lot easier to manage.

Sugru should work well for the top of the tube.

One important tip I have is to unscrew the stem from the atomizer and place a small amount of coconut oil or similar lubricant on the threads to prevent it from sticking. I have one stem that won't budge now and it makes it a lot harder to clean.

Monsoon,
Hi Monsoon,
Thanks for your reply.
The power switch needs to be turned on once plugged in, so it sounds like that option is off the table...

Regarding the warm up time, well I pretty much turn it on to max for about 10 min, then turn down to 34-35watts for another 5 and assume it is good to go. Hits pretty much the same as if it were on for 1 hour at 34-35watt. I'll report back if I learn a more precise stratagy.

The stem/atomizer connection... Thank you.
Just realized that it is a 2 piece assembly and that I didn't properly clean when I first got the unit. It is impossible to unscrew and is warming up now in the hops that I can get it to cooperate! I'll let you know how it goes.
Thank you,
HV

It seems like the dabmaster would be the way to go. I wonder if the performance is the same as the Apollo? I don't think I'll be doing the swap for a new unit. Too expensive when mine works fine.

Looks like the dab master is the all in one unit, it would probably be the one to get, it has vortex holes so it should perform the same as the Apollo and UFO.

Last time I checked, the Dabmaster is only sold as an extra accessory, I wish it was sold as a combo with the atomizer and the power unit, but it looks like they want you to spend extra for it.

Hmm if that's true that is sad, because I already have an atomizer so I'm just looking at the heaters with a power unit....whenever they release those....

The individual "tips" are for sale in there, and you can select between stainless or titanium.

I am personally going to get a dabmaster. I never saw them in the store till today. ;) My big question is why would I choose titanium? I don't understand the reason for the different material.

I just ordered my titanium dabmaster. According to planetvape:

"The DabMaster does Sublimate, but because of the groove cut out to prevent your oil from running down the side, it has less mass to it than the regular Apollo. If you are doing mostly dried herbs and dabbing infrequently then the regular Apollo is best. If you are dabbing frequently, but also want the ability to Sublimate dried herbs on occasion, then the DabMaster would be a better choice."

The dabmaster is going to be the shit and I did the no down time option so I should be getting my unit in 5-10 business days and I'll keep y'all posted with pics and heat up times and every question y'all have. I'm stoked. And they have all the options on their site for sale including the adapt a dabmaster which includes the atomizer and screens or just as an attachment head separate.
The reason for the titanium material is that it heats up/cools down faster and will produce a cleaner and tastier hit than with stainless steel. This is all information straight from the people at sublimator.ca and PV.
Cheers

I'm not buying this tastier hit out of the titanium unit business, the equally hot atomizer is still steel. My heater gives off less of a steel smell then my large atomizer tube that's the same temperature. Not sure about a quicker heat up either, as what takes long to heat up is the atomizer not the heater head. I've found you can heat the whole sub up to optimal temperature in 5 minutes by torching the atomizer once the heater is hot. As much as I always want the latest and greatest, 390$ (*For the dabmaster Ti upgrade*) after return rebate is a lot of money for essentially the same product; PV is selling sub 1.0s at that price. I'm sure Ti atomizers are on the horizon eventually; but they should of been out with the 2.0. Too much hot steel in the air path. My plan of attack is to sell my heavily subbed sub to my close friend for 200$ and then just buy a Ti kit when they're actually made of Ti for whatever price they want it for.

You are right, but I see nowhere the Dabmaster out of titanium, just the one made out of SS. I also don't see an upgrade to the Dabmaster, just the Apollo and Ti nail as @duval904 said.
There is a box on the stainless page of each model where it allows you to select from which model you want. There is also a pop down menu on the upgrade page to select which upgrade you want.

You can see it on you iphone. Click on the same upgrade you would for the stainless one and there will be an option for every type right under the price and it'll adjust the price according to which upgrade you choose.
