Hey guys, how's everyone doing? I get so wrapped up in the shop making Dogs that I sometimes forget to check in and make sure you all aren't getting into trouble or anything. :science: Maybe I can get you all to give me some feedback on some changes I'm thinking of making for this year?

First I'm considering bringing back our referral program, we went without it last year as I was selling the Dogs as fast as I could make them. I've streamlined some processes enough to have more capacity now though so it makes sense to start doing a little more advertising.

The referral program, if we bring it back, relies on you Dog owners spreading the word and giving people your code to use during checkout. Doing so gets the person you refer an extra bonus item or two (on vape purchases) and earns you a 10% commission (on all orders not just vapes) in the form of store credit. At 10% your account can build a balance pretty quickly and you can redeem the credit for whatever you want on the site.

I personally would much prefer to give back to you guys than to spend the money on stereotypical adverts and whatnot.

How many of you would be interested in something like this? Should we bother? Other suggestions or ideas? :peace:

@ Blazein - let me know if the package I sent you gets you back up and running in top form alright man?

Its a tough call. I would love to get some store credit, I'd buy 100 more dogs if I could, but I don't want people to think that the monetary gain is why I'm spreading the Word of the Dog.

FC also has strict policies regarding affiliate links, I wouldn't be allowed to use them on the Vapor Review Blog Underdog review if I wanted to link to my articles on FC.

I think it sounds like a good idea!

I talk to a lot of randoms about vaporizers, and while I always mention the new kids on the block, the pricey, $500+ super high-end vaporizers...its always followed by: "BUT there's plenty of great vaporizers at less than 1/2 that price with fantastic functionality". If they're more interested in a $250 price, but still want something efficient and hard-hitting, the Underdog is my go-to recommendation.

I think it's a great idea. I tell everyone to get an Underdog. Even if you go for the $500+ units, a great log vape is a must for any collection. Problem is, 99.5% of these people are here on FC, so I probably won't be much help there.

What about people hitting their LHS and handing out a card or two? Trade shows? I know some of the medical state people are always out and about at the cool ass events.

I'm still amazed everytime I hit it. A small SS amount and I can milk the holy hell out of a 10" straight tube. I'll run out of air before it runs out of vapor.

It's hard to believe, but this ol' amnesiac completely forgot about the referral program. Not a bad idea, to bring it back. I also talk a lot about vaporizers to newbs "on the street," and sooner or later I get to the log style vaporizer. Might be fun to see if I could get up to 100%... :dog:

Just found this:

http://www.fasttech.com/products/1424/10004461/1341400

18650 battery pack with a 1.7mm x 4.0mm output jack and variable voltage from 5 to 13 volts in .5 volt increments.

I'll be using protected panasonic batteries in the battery case. Does this seem like a safe on the go option @underdog?
TIA

As long as you make sure to use protected batteries in there, I can't see any reason why that solution wouldn't work. I'm not entirely sure about using it to recharge though, do you have an external charging cradle?

Thanks for the feedback guys, I'll look into how we could setup a referral system on the new website and let you guys know what I find out.

@ MileHighLife - That looks like it should work pretty well with two possible concerns; it looks like it might use a connector smaller than the standard Underdog 2.1mm barrel connector and with a top voltage of 13v it's max temp is going to be slightly cooler than the stock wall-warts 13.25v. That will result in slightly cooler temps during use and slightly longer heat-up time compared to the wall-wart.

@ CentiZen - Hey man nice to see you around these parts, I sent you a PM a day or two ago did you get it?

 I wrote you a reply and forgot to press send! My bad, it's in your Inbox now.

As for the cord size, I think that unit comes with an adapter that would fit the underdog. One is pictured at least. The upper voltage limit is a problem, though it could be solved by using something like the miniVVPS to step the voltage up to a higher level.

Nice! Thanks guys. I keep my dog below 13 volts anyway. If I ever want to bring it up past that on the go I'll bring the vk along but I think it'll be more convenient having only one cable, one box and no dial to accidentally move when carrying in a backpack or disc golf bag.

Edit: @CentiZen i have an efest luc v4 that will charge the batteries but in the description section where it says "package contents" it says that it contains a barrel cable and charging cable so I'm thinking the micro USB cable/slot is for charging.

Hey everybody, just got my new Twig yesterday. Used it and loved it, though I have a few questions for the experienced dog users.

1. How much do you load in the screen. Do you fill up more than the screen, or just to the rim of the screen?

2. On average, about how many strong hits do you get per load.

3. I have a twig, and the GonG and Straight Glass both fit really loose on my Twig, I'm guessing thats normal? The size for the twigs are 3/8 right? I get a little nervous the stems will wobble right off sometimes. The nylon fits pretty well, not snug, but it doesn't wobble much.

4. Do a lot of you use the GonG without glass? Or is made for a glass attachment and not dry hitting?

I really liked using my dog, but I feel I wasted a lot of weed. When I used the nylon stem, the weed after one fat drag would be brown/black. But through the GonG, I would barely get any hits, or at least it seemed like it. Either way, after about 3 loads, I was flying, but I still think I wasted a lot of green when using the GonG.

Thanks everyone :)

Hey Priceman thanks for posting, I'll try and answer some of your questions and other people can chime in as well with their experiences.

> All cores using a 3/8" center tube

> How much you load is up to you and your personal usage needs, these days I like to use the Nylon Stems and load them 1/2 to 2/3 of the way to the top and get one big, fresh heat out of each before dumping them.

> If using the Direct Draw or GonG stems (and yes, they're supposed to fit very loosely, no worries) I fill to the top of the screen or slightly more and will get 3-5 hits per stem with a gentle stirring between hits. Since the load is farther away from the heating element with the glass stems the temp is lower and you get more hits of less density but will eventually get the same (flying) results.

> The GonG Stems can be used dry just like the Direct Draw Stems if you like, some people actually prefer the taper shape on their lips and actually purchase them specifically to use dry.

Hope that's helpful, let me know if you have more questions.

@ CentiZen - heh I've done that more than once myself no worries.. got the mini-VVPS yesterday.. very nice it's my new favorite! I hope you go to full production soon!

@ MileHighLife - Oh ok, yeah I think that power supply would pair nicely with a VK or one of CentiZens awesome mini-VVPS. That being said if I was going to use it with a mini-VVPS type voltage converter I'd try and find an even cheaper fixed voltage battery pack since the converter will let you change it up or down to whatever you want.

Alright Dogs, lots of projects to work on around here.. always more work than time to do it around here. Talk to you all later. :peace:

1. How much do you load in the screen. Do you fill up more than the screen, or just to the rim of the screen?

I fill up my nylon stems up nearly to the brim, and fill about a centimeters worth of loose material in the glass stems

2. On average, about how many strong hits do you get per load.

1 - 2 hits for nylon, 3 - 5 from glass

This is normal. All of my log vapes do this

4. Do a lot of you use the GonG without glass? Or is made for a glass attachment and not dry hitting?

I do, actually. I just use one stem and use if for both glass and direct draw use.

Sounds to me like your dog is running a little cold. Nylon stems require a lot less heat to bake the load than the glass ones do. I use my underdog on a variable voltage power supply that lets me set the voltage it runs at. I run it at around 13.5 - 14v and get even browned herb from the glass stems.

Thanks for both responses, Underdog and Centi. Knowing all of that is normal makes me a lot more comfortable now experimenting more. :)

Unfortunately I think my pup kicked the bucket today. It was pulled to the floor by the cord and now something inside rattles. :rip: I hardly knew ye

I do have to say though that up until today my underdog has performed like a champ, here's hoping Dave can resurrect my pup.:(

Quick question. Say I kept my Twig plugged in for a couple hours and want to switch rooms. If it's only unplugged for say a minute, can you go about vaping again? Or should you wait for it to heat up a little again?

Shouldn't take but just a min if its already warm

I think if you're just going room to room it shouldn't effect performance much.

I just got a dog yesterday but know I'll be using it for a while. Would you guys recommend buying a VVPS now for the long run? Is it one of those things were every log user at some point buys? And if you do think I should buy one, any recommendations for which one? I'm very new to desktop vaping being a MFLB user. Really happy I decided to purchase the UD though... it's a completely different animal.

I don't think a VVPS is a necessity for most users but they sure are nice and I think one is worth getting based on that alone.

Over the past couple years I've tried hundreds of different ones with mixed results, quality tends to be very low or price very high so I'd given up and just went back to the standard wall-wart. I think this is going to change after receiving one of CentiZens mini-VVPS.. his creation, so far, looks like it just might mans-best-friends-best-friend.

He can explain in detail but it's actually a DC/DC voltage converter that you use in conjunction with a DC wall-wart (not the current stock UD ones which are AC voltage). His mini-VVPS lets you adjust the voltage down or up to suit your needs and is very small and works great! Again I'll let him explain in detail but I think it's a great product, is a very worthwhile purchase and it's always nice to support someone working hard to bring a new product to production.

@Priceman4714 I use a bastardized version of the GonG for both dry and with glass.
Underdog Vaporizer

Dry, fully inserted, I get 3 5 second draws and 3 2-3 second draws.

My personal technique for dry hits, fill SS tip using straw method. Lightly tap with finger and clear off any excess. Tap over plate/tray to make sure none falls out. Insert just the very very tip into the heatport and draw a few times until flavor goes (approx 2-3). Insert all the way for another 2-3. Comes out beautifully dark and blows cleanly out.

I hope that made sense because I ran a few stems to do a hit count and I'm really feeling it.

My favorite and preferred way, is through a straight tube. I can milk and clear it 6+ times. It's a stupid amount of vapor really.
http://www.brotherswithglass.com/HVY_Glass_10_In_Straight_Water_Pipe_p/bwg-hms1.htm

As far as a VVPS, I run mine through a surge protector with both the 15' & 10' extensions. Perfect temp for me. Any hotter and I'd risk combustion.

I think I may have to buy a VVPS. My dog is simply just not getting hot enough. It barely cooks the weed and I can't get the herb to get past a green/light brown color. After the first hit of every stem, I have trouble getting more hits even though the weed is still very green. Though I realized, with the nylon stem, when I first used my dog I was able to get the weed dark brown/black, but I can't anymore.... I didn't change anything either with the stem, any ideas?

Hey Priceman that's weird that your Dog was nice and hot but not any longer. Usually that would point to an old and feeling run down power supply but yours is brand new so that's probably not it. :hmm:

PM and I'll see if I can think of something to help you out and get your temp up.
