Keep in mind that as you draw, you are cooling the chamber, it would be really difficult to maintain the heat from a hair drier in the middle of a windstorm. It tries to compensate, and so it dips and rises.
So true. Any digital vape display is going to jump around to some extent when you pull cold air in on a draw, and a portable will be more subject to temp fluctuation than some home units that have thermal mass for better heat retention.

Hello all
I came to this forum because I saw that my davinci vaporizer was releasing gas on an empty bowl.
I tried many burn ins after reading about MICA insulation post from Davinci (20 all at highest temperature of 405) and still getting smoke with empty chamber.
I bought my vaporizer on ebay and the seller made me pay $10.70 to process warranty return plus I have to pay to ship back to them.
I hope the replacement will be ok.

I posted a video

Max, im interested in your space that's available..
If you mean you're interested in seeing something better than 'this space available', so am I. I'll work on that this week. If you want to rent the space, I'll warn you that my price is pretty steep.

If it's happening (that much) before you ever use herb in it, then that's not normal and I'd get it replaced. Once you use it for a while though, without proper and thorough cleaning, it will vape off a lot of residue when running empty. In any case, you're not getting smoke. If it was smoking that much, something important would have quit working right away and the unit would just be dead.

I used it for a week but the chamber was spotless before the burn ins.
I even replaced the bottom chamber screen when cleaning the unit.
If there was any residue I do not think it would last thru 20 10 minute sessions at 405 degrees
I had to remove my link to Youtube because it had my real name.
I have reposted my video here in case your interested.

No doubt. I'm not disagreeing with your diagnosis (except that you're getting vapor from the problem and not smoke), and only mentioned the herb residue vaping from an empty chamber for the benefit of others who may see that from their unit but don't have your issue.

I have continued to use this as my daily driver.

This thing does everything! (Although its not very conservative on concentrates)

And man does it work!

Hey guys sorry to go back to this should I need pliars to screw the piece off for upper screen changing? Also I haven't been able to find if the bottom is replaceable or not? Thank you in advance.

If you heat it up the DV the chamber cap will unscrew a little easier but I have to use pliers to get a hold of mine also. The bottom screen is replaceable, I use a safety pin to pry up the old screen.

Unfortunate news while attempting to grip that top cap, my trigger hand decided it was perfect time to lock up sending the unit flying across the garage. Upon Impact the two halves actually split, now this was ok, however one of the lead wires from the switch button became disconnected. May try surgery later still love the unit.

Oh dear. My da vinci just seems ro have died. I turned it on and the screen showed some strange characters, the heat light flashes a few times and now nothing, the display lights up blue but is blank and nothing happens. Any ideas?

My buddies did that too, no screen, BUT his would heat up. So he still uses it, just never leaves 375. Never dropped or mistreated either. Still on his coffee table im sure.

I don't believe there is.. Something must've fried, warranty?

If no warranty, i hope you have a backup, and hope you're able to replace it.

I've read through and didn't see this anywhere, I'm sure someone had to bring this up somewhere though.

I've used my davinci a lot in the past 2 months, and it works great. However, I still find it had a slight rubbery flavor to it. Always! I'm starting to worry of I'm inhaling harmful gasses. I figured it would go away but it hasn't. What to do?

@Tony Hemp are you storing it in the box it came in?

No, never. I don't really have to store it unless I'm traveling. I can't help but taste the rubbery taste it's messing up my vapes. I bought an ascent and it recently broke, so now I notice the rubber taste in the davinci more after having the ascent.

Have you cleaned the unit with ISO ever?

I did only 1 or 2 burn ins when I first got mine and yeah it tasted funky but after my first ISO cleaning session it all went away.

I then tried one of the stupidest things ever a few weeks after. I vaped tobacco in my DV. HORRIBLE MISTAKE.

It tasted like absolute SHIT EVEN AFTER CLEANING.

I had to clean it 3-5 times and run herb through it to remove the taste. I will say it has NO plastic taste AT ALL not even slightly now.

I guess you could try running it with tobacco and once you get that taste out there will be no plastic taste for sure. Up to you though.

greetings my friends
your old friend the midnight rider is back. it's been a while since i've talked to any of you good folks on here, have been working my cajones off the last 3 years working on some bucket list projects which finally came to fruition and for that i am extremely grateful.
have been lurking though and trying to keep up with all the advances in vapes, my head spun trying to decide between a pax, dv, solo... or other ... for a portable.
got a sweet deal on a davinci karma and read up on it on this forum...liked the design, ability to use while recharging and decent battery life. i have the version 2 with sweet swing out lid and magnetic closure. the recharging meter goes and goes like some others have reported but it will eventually attain and show full a charge when you leave it plugged in long enough.
was heartbroken to see that it was offgassing every time i did an empty chamber burn-in though. figured out it was coming from the silicone seal at the top of the heating chamber. it appeared the seal was partially torn, maybe from being installed with a hook or tool that ripped it a bit...could this exposed inner part of the seal be different and uncured compared to the outer seal?
in any case i figured that seal had to go. most level headed guys would have sent it back and waited for a replacement. this was the third try already for me, had just gotten and returned 2 other vapes from a different maker and was not going to wait for another.
being the least unhandy person in the world but always willing to learn i dived in. the screws that hold the case together were hidden under rubber plugs, a sturdy safety pin slid in halfway down and pushed to the side to bite in and each were withdrawn easily. the screws themselved were tricky as the driver slipped often and at least one screw was partially stripped but i got them out and they were still ok to get it back together.
i should have taken pics when i was inside but didn't want to muck about any more than i had to, it was short work to pop off the silicone seal over the heating chamber and get the patient sewed back up.
first and subsequent dry burns showed no more offgassing so that had to be it.
anyway after this long-winded story what i was wondering is if there is any danger in running it without the seal? if so maybe i can get dv to sell or provide me one? i don't even want to bother the vendor, a great seller on here you all approve of, he was so super in dealing with my problems with the two other vapes...
so @OF and you other guys that know your shit, any hazard in running the dv without the seal?
it still works great without it, sometimes a tiny bit of vapor leak but not much
thanks and hats off the best community/forum on the web you guys and gals are all tops
God bless
midnight rider

Trapped in the Astral Planes Back from the dead
@midnight rider The seal is there to help to keep the heating chamber centered. As well as aiding the airflow to pass in the side of the chamber over the heating element and up through the bottom of the bowl. I think it would take away any if not all the convection properties that are present. Also a lot of medicine would get through the crack into the bottom of the case. Just my :2c: You could try sending DaVinci a private message. I'm sure they will help you to get your vape right.

@Tony Hemp I would do as SirDarkened recommend and clean it with iso. Clean the draw stem also. Link to how I clean mine. The tobacco part is up to you. Also check to see if the bristles on your brush have become shorter. Let us know if any of this helps.

I'll have to get on this ISO clean up immediately. I've been loathing using my DV because of that flavor, I haven't imagined it without, I figured that's just the way it was. I'm excited to get it running the way it should be.
