Thanks deadshort,I'm having a little trouble choosing the right downstem. The downstem is going in a Sheldon black bubbler which with a downstem inside fits a 14mm male. Do I pick 18mm standard or 18 to 14 low pro ?

Mrmrmrmr,

Just passing time
I love my direct inject 19 to 19 mm downstem from these guys. It's got ~12 holes in the downstem, and percolates like a champ. It really smooths out a tube I use it with.

Doug,
I figure these two pieces have been discussed to some extent at least, but 50 pages...

I'm looking to pair one of these two pieces with an Epic EV-2 I recently purchased. Anybody have any insights/personal experience with these? Does the beaker bub have an 18mm female joint?

The pieces are made to order, so just let Sam know what you're trying to.do and I'm sure he'll accommodate you. I won't buy my pieces anywhere else. These are custom quality pieces and can be altered as long as its still allows the piece to be functional

We're here to fuck shit up.
I have the first one with a bent neck and I love it. It is my go to piece for pairing with my EVO. It doesn't need a lot of water, but it moisturizes and cools vapor very well. The Showerhead has only eight slits so the less diffusion, to me, helps retain a lot of flavor.

I believe the Beaker Bub has an 18mm downstem with a 14mm lo pro adapter.

It's hard to tell from the pic, but does the one shown have the bent neck, or was that a special order deal? Any chance you can post some pics of the piece you have?

The pic on the site shows a straight neck. I requested the bent neck and an extra wide base for it to sit on.

If you are interested in the straight neck, our very own @dorkus_molorkus owns one. He's the man I went to when I was thinking about buying one. He told me he liked the piece, but wished it had a bent neck. That's all I needed to hear.

I think I am going to order a showerhead bub. It will be my only glass and will be used with a Solo only. Can anyone who owns one tell me your long term impression of it? Also, what is the height of the can?

Update: OK, I've read through the first 16 pages in the thread so I have a pretty good impression of the bub (but if anyone has any praises or drawbacks, especially when pairing with the solo, please feel free to comment). And I am still looking for the can height.

I cannot attest to the merits of the showerhead bub, but I can say that the beaker bub is very nice, perfect for what I needed. It is well made and thick and hits very nicely - no chug at all. Took about two weeks after ordering to get it although some of that was because the guy I was dealing with (I think there's more than one?) was apparently a bit forgetful. Kind of frustrating there, but it was well worth the wait.

Anyone who has ordered from Glassblowersdirect.com (online or over the phone) who isn't located in the state of CA, could you please shoot me a PM?

^ Yeah they include CA sales tax on all orders (I think that's where you were going).

Yep. Anybody else who has had this happen, feel free to send me a PM.

BIG thanks for everybody who reached out to me so far, the number of PMs is surprisingly high.

It's happened to everyone who's ordered from GBD. He's been told (multiple times I'm sure) he doesn't have to tax anyone but CA residents, but he seems insistent on sticking to his incorrect info, and people have just accepted it as part of the product price.

Sam could really use some help re-designing his site and with his e-commerce practices. I was put off enough by the totally frivolous charge that I decided not to get the full-sized piece I was eying, and just got a few accessories, and my free downstem, obv. One piece I wanted was custom, with no fixed price. So I was obliged to ferociously haggle over a few measly dollars, where as I normally don't do that kind of shit.

Do you think they could do something like this 18mm hydratube recycler (think this is a Gordo Sci for the Evo)?

Imgur, godonlyknows.

Please note, I designed this piece to accommodate (and help medicate) my several hundred percent (according to the Department of Veterans Affairs) total and permanent disabilities, Parkinson's, Shell Shock, etc.

Agent Orange will fuck you up.

I briefly want to weigh in on Sam's sales tax situation. My understanding is that he is affiliated
with numerous artisans in several states which his accountant decided constituted an out of state presence. He obviously operates on a razor thin margin and is well advised to cover any contingency.

He should just post the price tax-included if he has legitimate costs he is covering. It may be a tad irrational, but I think most people react strongly to any extra charge that they don't legitimately owe. If the base price was simply 7% higher people would pay up without complaint.

edit @wootze your photobucket url is pointing to your whole library. Click on a pic to get the code to link to that image (on the right).
