i dont use mine that often. But when I do, I normally just throw the PD in it 10 minutes or so before I want too use it. see no need too let it sit in the koozie 24/7... just when I want too use it

That is a real good idea, I left mine on for a few hours and it the wood became very hot and very dry (almost to the point of splintering). It scared me real bad, so before putting the koozie on just buzz butter it a bit so it doesn't dry out.

hmmm... not sure i want or need to go this koozie route if it stresses the unit - it sorta works perfectly as is, you know?

You took the words outta my mouth jeffp, I haven't used the koozie since and probably won't ever again. :peace:

yeah I dont use mine as often as I used too. The only difference I notice is one too maybe two more extra hits. But the unit does get too hot too hold outside of the koozie for my tastes. I think in the long run a koozie might cause too much stress on the wood.
i pretty much just use my PD as is. i've messed around with all the various ways too heat up the PD... and IMO... the PD is just fine the way it is. heating it up makes the hits much more harsh than I prefer.
I got other vapes for running my herb hotter than the PD....

I think I may of stumbled accross something pretty cool  Don't know if its been mentioned here before but I took a piece of silicone tubing and added that to the end of the stem before PD Bonging, it still fit perfect into my 14mm Gong and allowed way better airflow for the milkiest PD hits I've ever gotten, I was amazed at the difference and how I was able to milk my Vrip Pro Water Tool like it were the Heat Wand, it was awesome!

It's funny eveytime someone posted a pic of the PD/Bong combo I always thought it kinda looked like a wooden VRIP hitting a bong. Then when I got my set up, I really thought that.

Right, that's my feeling exactly. Fine the way it is - I hardly mess with the silicone tubing as well.
When I'm in a silicone tube mood I simply employ my whip based vape...
Also heating up the material too much compromises the integrity of my AVB for future eatings....

I wonder if mineral oil would be OK to use on the PD? It used to be the preferred treatment on wooden cutting boards. It might make the PDs tacky, but I'm a tacky-kinda-guy.

I dont have silicone tubing, only the vinyl stuff... makes it taste funny. This is what I came up with.. simple, works great...

2 chambers? are you kidding? Is it really that harsh?

try this, take out the diffuser, fill the water to just below the GONG joint and only let the tree perc bubble.

enjoy

It's not harsh at all.. I just dont have a single chamber big enough to satisfy my needs, that's all. Idc about any lost vapors either.

Just out of curiosity, for those who use the pd with gong attachments, do you use a different technique like rotating the bowl/stem? I've noticed that my pd will brown one side of the bowl more than the other. :peace:

I've read that someone does that even just hitting normal without a bong. They spin the tube slowly as they hit it.

I tend to turn the tube between hits but I have never noticed the PD browning one side of the bowl more than the other. I mean, really, we are talking about a pinch of dust. I suppose if you were really having an issue you could tap it out and reload the same batch between hits to help cook more evenly but I don't think it is necessary, at least not with regular brick weed. Maybe with the high grade stuff it might do you some benefit. I only tend to turn the tube when I do it straight. If I load the tube in my EHLE then I don't turn it.

OK so I took a bong cone/bowl-sized (about 2cm) circular screen from a headshop and rolled it into a sharp cone, then flattened the point a bit from the inside with umm, something pokey but flat on the end, can't remember what exactly. Then I shoved it deep inside a PD stem whose screen and clips I'd removed. The screen holds its place there easily.

It's now mostly inside the metal/polypropylene tube overlap, making the bowl over twice the original depth. This makes for super thick, super tasty hits.

I'm using a warmer (a couple of cut-off sock legs) to counter any temperature drop in the deep stem, though I don't know if that would be significant anyway.

I'll pack one of these and it'll take me half an hour to finish, sometimes much longer (and that's with a decent tolerance). I've also been using it to vape trim. I'm sure lower grade bud would work well too. And naturally, varying the depth of the screen could be useful, though I haven't felt the urge to change it yet. :ko:

PS One tip:

When lying on back or slouching without top on while vaping stem, do not withdraw PD from mouth before first ensuring that stem has not adhered to lip, as this will cause stem to disengage from PD, and hot bit of stem to land on bare naked flesh, resulting in short-term minor pain and medium term skin-markings.

Consider, however, the possibilities for body art.

Happy new PD owner, very much enjoying all the wisdom. I love my PD, but am a little embarassed that it took me so long to find out about vaping. Playing catch-up and looking into maybe hooking it to my bong. That picture made my eyes open very wide indeed. Very cool. :)

I was wondering, how dark do people let the iso juice (from cleanng the stems and grinder etc) get before evaporating it off? Mine is quite brown, should it be dark brown?

All my AVB is binned and all my ISO juice is down the drain.

Sucks living in a mindset where you expect a police raid any second.

i would change it, iso is dirt cheap, and also it cleans better when its fresh. plus you cant forget the tastey hashoil that you will get when you evap it off.

on a side not, i found the perfect container to store abv in! it already has a hole in the lid that just so happens to be a little larger then the pd stem, they also have a small snaplid that covers the hole. i use the smaller one but they are from reynolds called cleaverwear.

I believe the Vapolution uses a 2.5mm x 5.5mm plug. The PD uses a 2.1mm x 5.5mm plug. A loose fit...

It is generally reported that the PD (from a pre-heated start) will last about 80-90 minutes on this pack. Not worth the effort or bucks IMO. You can get a Vapor Ggenie for less and be in the woods as long as your lighter holds out. :2c:
