I go where the thrills are
Couple of observations:

1. I'm needing to clean this at least every 2 chambers.
2. For whatever reason, I'm not finding cleaning this unit as easy as I wished because you not only have to clear the chamber but also the window and pathways to clear away debris.
3. I def need to go with a medium grind. My grind must be to fine because between 1 and 2 above I am getting some debris in my mouth even though I am drawing slowly and not to strong.
4. I am getting about 4-5 inhalations per chamber each of which are cool, smooth and flavorful. Can't seem to manage anything beyond 5 tokes.

Besides the medium grind approach, you should also try the dry cloth cleaning method. Get a micro fiber cloth and use it to wipe down the lid and main surfaces. Clears the debris quickly between bowls.
I tend to go for 4-5 inhalations and then change out the bowl when vapor production goes down.

Not sure why some folks get so few hits. I get at least 12-15 really tasty hits, then another 5 plus not as tasty. And can still extract two more large hits from the ABV in my V Tower desktop unit.

One last piece of advice for noobs to convection like me. Don't overly rely on the glow to be your visual cue. Let flavor be your guide. It was recommended that I try closing my eyes and focus on a slow, steady draw and focus on the flavor. I think this is really good advice and look forward to trying this next session!

Yes, as stated many times, helps to hit the button for a four count, draw while holding, release mid-hit, keep inhaling for another 10 seconds. Visualize *coaxing* the vapor out of the material. Seems to help me. Kinda weird and zen, I know.

I will be very stoked if I can get a high number of flavorful hits so I will follow this exactly and let you know how well I do!

How long are you drawing while holding the button? And I get about 5 to 6 hits out of each pack.
Also, I blow hard into the chamber and into the lid window and that seems to clear debris pretty sufficiently between bowls.

@dirty_honest it seems you must have sorted out the "taste " problem you were having? What made the difference?

Well, I can't say that quite yet... it's just that this FF is just so darn smooth, crisp, and it feels great to hold. Taste aside, my lungs love it and I always get a really nice high. I am starting to pick up on subtleties the more I use it, but I'm still eager to try different strains. Waiting for my next paycheck :) I'll be sure to report. As for the amount of hits, I am in the 10-15 range per bowl...not in the 5 range. I heat for 4 or so seconds then I inhale...for as long as I can, and rather gently I must add. Sometimes I take little sips/puffs...at the beginning of a new bowl, that's when I am able to taste it. Overall, a lovely and totally classy experience. Remember, keep calm and vape on and on and on.

Not 100% sure, but I'd guess my hits are 30 seconds-ish total, of which I'm holding the button for 10-15 depending on the stage of the session.

Yes, blowing is your best friend, cleaning-wise.

Concerning the screen size, it measures .544" or so. I tried a .625" but way too large. I don't like how the .5" sits, too much slop for my comfort, looks like I'll be making my own when these wear out.
A little blast of compressed air cleans the bowl nicely between cleanings. I can't get over how great the vapor tastes with the FF, I'm spoiled and don't want to use anything else now. I do still end up getting the last few draws with the Solo due to a few major combustion events with the FF using the multi press method.

Fair enough...proprietary size...appreciate the precise measurement. I can see where having the screen sit that loose would bother some. For me, it's working out perfectly.

Compressed air works really well. I use it also. +1

Which case did you get? i got the double decker and i am finding it a bit small

So my spare battery and external charger arrived today. And one thing is clear: the Vatra Double Decker won't comfortably (or at all, really) hold the FF, the wall charger, the spare battery, and the external charger. There might be a way to remove some bits of the case that would facilitate this but I haven't discovered them yet. (I have removed the little divider piece which gives you a bit more room.) It's still a really nice case for 30 bucks, the size is so small you could toss it into any bag, but you'd have to leave your external charger at home.

EDIT: OK...I'm officially an idiot. Spent time playing with the case. If you, DUH, put the spare battery IN the external charger, you can get everything in, though it's tight. Told you I was an idiot.

I will be very stoked if I can get a high number of flavorful hits so I will follow this exactly and let you know how well I do!

Just watch the length of time you hold down the heat button. Err on the side of less time and you'll produce smaller but tastier hits with less chance of charring from overheating.

My residue build-up in gap where the screen fits in was caused by the way I twirl a toothpick around the bowl to get the ABV out. I noticed my method actually compacted a very small amount of material in a corner where the toothpick ended. So now I am paying more attention on how I empty the ABV. Hehe.
:bang:

I do this too, and I guess I'm lucky it didn't force material under the bowl edge...it did cause a buildup on the edges of the screen, but that's easy to fix. I'll be pretty careful in the future.

I only changed it to see how to change it!

I only mentioned the volcano to point out why I was on this thread.

Comparing the Volcano with the FF is NOT really fair and not what I suggested by mentioning the volcano. Okay, you can compare the end results and cloud quantity, but I don´t need the cloud trails in a portable.
So how do we change the screen ? Just got mine and I am curious too. Nothing negative just interested.

A little bummed....

I purchased the .5 screens of that site then I saw they were too small so I ordered the next size up and now you guys are saying those are too big ughhh....

So I live chatted with Stacey today, told her that I bent up two of the supplied screen trying to learn how to replace them (a minor fib :|), told her I bought two diff sizes from 3rd party and that neither were right, asked her if they were planning on selling just screens in bulk....told her I don't need the toothpicks or the brush, so spending $10 was silly for 3 screens. She said she was going to talk to manager. Comes back and says sorry, can't help ya. Booo....

Sorry to hear that... so the 5/8" is too big? Others said that they had success... You may need to wait and see first. What's not working about the .5? Too small meaning it moves around?

Neither screens have arrived, just going based upon what you guys were saying. I guess I need to wait and see before worrying, just would really like to have the same ones that come with it

I am the one responsible for stating that the screen size was 1/2"...then realized it was a bit bigger and assumed 5/8"...that was wrong as well and I was corrected.

Let me tell you, the 1/2" screens work PERFECTLY. I'm getting better airflow, more even (and darker ABV) and the screens come out and go in SO easily. It's also made it much easier to blow out the bowl at the end...no pieces sticking to screen, etc. Just my 2 cents worth. They improved my FF experience.

You could easily trim down the 5/8" screens with a pair of heavy duty sissors so that they will fit to your liking. I do, however, apologize for the less than accurate measurement.

They are stainless steel fine mesh screens that I originally bought for my Solo. I find that the air flows better with the 1/2" screen...the smaller circumference seems to allow the air to circulate better for me (I have no scientific proof). My ABV is more uniform and I can get it dark brown faster. The screen will pop out very easily and does not seem to get infused with herb bits as the edge isn't tucked into the groove between the bowl and the heater floor. Does that make any sense?
