stuck at tha college all day.. Just got home not too long ago and got into my dbv's wand for some recycling before bedtime, ill post pics once i get a chance to get over there and tag you most definitely

It will be a nice review to have since you've captured my attention with this honeycomb thing, comments comparing that with VG "ceramic filters" turned red would be appreciable i believe.

This is most likely irrelevant, but my Handcarved actually whistles when I use it, but no one else can get that whistle, I like to think of it as hitting the right draw speed.It makes a sound when the temperature is reached... It vaguely reminded me of chalk on a drawing board, but with a higher pitch. Now imagine if it could be tailored to generate an audible note when temperature is slightly lower than ideal, to serve as a warning sign.
This actually happened more than once, in a few previous sessions too. Most certainly ritual-related, though i wonder if temperature would really happen to be predictible this way.

Having issues with the filter looking smaller and not as round and flat. Anyone know whats up with this? Am I inhaling the ceramic filter?

I have issues too with the stone and it seems not avalaible on VG website except if I ordered mine directly from them (and not a retailer)...
Mine is cover of black, user error... if somebody knows another way to get a new stone or something else wich will work as the original?

Anyone have any tips for cleaning the gunk out of my HC? The wire brushes they sent me don't seem to go all the way through. I did get the correct size. I use pipe cleaners too, but there seems to be a ton of buildup in there still.
I probably should take out my puck and torch it as well, because I'm not sure if it's working properly and the top of the puck is a light grey color now, unlike the black color of the other side. My herbs tend to brown without producing much vapor now...

when using a torch I usually error on the side of caution and keep the flame a couple of inches above the coil, and slowly move towards it until I notice it's getting heated, then I'll pull back but keep heat going to try to maintain that temp once it gets started. It can be a bit tricky at first, really just takes some trial/error and if you end up scorching or combusting, the coil can be completely cleaned in iso (remove stone first) I like to think of the hot air just in front of the flame tip as what I want entering the coil chamber, if that makes sense...
It depends on how big the "flame" is, bigger flame is better but of course not too big.
Best thing you can do is not let it touch the filter but im not sure if that causes ur
filter to be clogged with a torch, with a normal lighter it does though.
I have tried using a torch and it worked out well when it didnt touch the filter.
Only problem with using a torch is when you u have the classic vaporgenie pipe
is that it takes a while to get the proper heat (maybe i held it to far away from the filter)
so i switched back to the normal lighter which takes me 2 seconds to get a good clowd with
as less burning as possible and like 8 hits a bowl (without mouthpiece).

I have scanned the thread but don't have the time to read all 100 pages so please forgive me if I'm asking questions that have already been answered.
Having looked at the Vaporgenie I'm on the verge of purchasing, but would love to know from VG owners:
1) Is there a lot of variation between the different models of pipe? Are they all stainless steel bowls or does that vary? Is there a "best" model?
2) Is there a reliable way of cleaning the thing completely if it were to get gunked up?
3) Are the wood finish ones made differently to the coloured ones? I'm looking at wood finish cos it looks so nice, but could handle a green one if there were advantages.

I have the lotus and the bronze sherlock. I find the performance equivalent. If I had to choose one, I would go with the bronze sherlock because it is slightly easier to use. The lotus requires stirring between hits and using the aluminum stem it is somewhat difficult to visually see that the flame is centered. I also like the bronze sherlock because it is attractive, and has a nice solid feel, especially when it warms up.

As I can't find the Sherlock style pipe without having to import it, I've settled on the idea of getting the conventional/hand carved model.
I've noticed the hand-carved are longer, which would seem like an advantage to me, not only because you have to look at the thing while lighting, but also the longer air path makes for cooler vapor... am I right?
Was also wondering if there is significant difference in the diameter of the hole you draw vapor through?
The original model looks like it might be more hollow with the pipe being so much chunkier?

The hole u draw from is the same size for both models, but it depends where u are going
to buy from, i noticed that at some places the vaporgenie sold are older models and they
do have smaller drawholes.
With my vaporgenie its 5mm, but a someone i know has a newer model which has about 7-8mm.
I've smoked from both vaporgenies and noticed that it takes more time to get vapor out of the
newer model with the larger drawhole (it also has a larger hole to put the flame in), but the heat
seems to be the same as the older model because u will need a bigger flame for the newer.
However i never use the VG outside, even when there is very little wind it's very hard to
keep the flame on, you would need a strong jet flame lighter and i wouldn't even say for sure if it will be easy outside, so just keep that in mind.
