Arizer Solo

So I just received my Solo! First impressions is that the unit itself is a lot smaller than I thought it was gonna be, so thats a nice surprise!
Also it really has the feel of a well built product.

Unfortunately I'm all out of herb at the moment, will restock tomorrow so won't be able to enjoy it just yet:\

Anyways, I just did a couple of cycles on level 7 and it reached level 7 in exactly one minute, that seems a bit fast to me, or is that the standard for the newer models? I got the M1D2 if anybody cares:)

Cant wait to start experimenting tomorrow!

While I'm waiting: I'd tried a few terrible vapes about 10 years ago, but they were a waste of time and herb. Then this December I became tired, finally, of combustion. My lungs were speaking to me. Finding this site made me wonder if the tech had maybe moved on, and after much research I came to buy an Arizer Solo.

I was expecting a poor substitute for joints/bongs, but was resolved grin and bear it. I now realise it is the other way around. Vaping gets me higher, and in better ways, than burning stuff ever did. If you are lurking on this site thinking "yeah, but I'd miss smoking spliffs, and it's £150", well, I was there too. I was wrong (not about the price, obv). So with that said, here is my guide to using the Arizer Solo:

I think of this method as 'Magnum', owing to the combination of:
  • Levels 3, 5 and 7.
  • Unrivalled stopping power.
  • Metaphorical allusion to the Selleck character's lifestyle, one of idyllic pleasure crossed with all-action smack-downs.
I use a grinder, and lightly pack the bowl. I tried using gauze(s) but found it added nothing and restricted space, YMMV. Over the course of a few days a very small amount will have found its way through the holes, maybe 10% of a bowl after 20 bowls, but it never ends up in my mouth.

  1. So, insert the packed bowl and heat to level 3. Leave for 30 seconds after this heat is achieved, then take 3-4 loooong slow drags. This is my favourite bit, and if I was a millionaire, all air I breathed would be this. It is vaping's biggest revelation for me, and puts weed far beyond wine in terms of the fancy flavours you can pull out of your flowers (my stash right now gives up ripe papaya and a kind of truffle/tequila/fat girl's thigh note at level 3).
  2. Click to level 5 while there's still plenty of these top notes left (it's possible to exhaust the bowl's vapour supply at lower levels, then click the heat up to to get more, but the higher settings taste nicer if there are some of the top notes left to blend in). Level 5 is where I stay for about 6-7 minutes, and it puts out thick clouds with a flavour that's pretty similar to how the growing plants smell.
  3. Finally, when the vapour at level 5 is thinning, I click it up to 7, and draw the remaining goodness out. This never tastes as nice as the first two stages (kinda like popped corn toasting on a dry pan), but seems to contribute a large proportion of the 'body high'. You can, as mentioned before, click through to 7 sooner and have it taste nicer, but I enjoy the flavours at the lower levels too much to mix it with level 7 vapour, which in any case doesn't take more than a half dozen drags to exhaust.
Notes:
  • I often go for 3,4,6 instead, some herbs just seem to surrender their delights at lower temps, and some taste worse at 7 than others.
  • I regularly find that the timer cuts out when I'm still drawing thick vapour at level 5. 18 mins would have been better than 12 for me.
  • There is clearly still active ingredients left in the leavings. Do not smoke this. It is much nicer melted into a cube of chocolate, sprinkled on ice cream, stirred into jagermeister, etc. I've even tapped it directly into my mouth, though was pretty out of it at the time (don't burn your lips).
  • If you don't have a grinder, it will still work well, but there will be more active ingredient left behind (see note above).
Downsides:
  • Bowl a little small for my liking.
  • After a few weeks of usage, the glass parts became quite loose when inserted. No big deal, but a little jangly.
The High:

I am able to get higher than with combustion-based methods. I also, after a heavy night, feel high the next day in a way burning it has never achieved. There is something different about the vibe for sure. It creeps up more, and isn't so dumbifying. I laugh more.

Economy:

I now use about 50-80% of what I used to go through. 80% if I'm trying to match the smash-down effects of a bong, but more and more I dig sipping it like a god-damn connoisseur, which requires less.

tl;dr- Buy one or more of these Arizer Solos. It is like cannabis use from the future.

A minute sounds about right to me Burken. The heater is really powerful considering the size and battery power. The LEDs 2-7 go up in 5 degree C intervals, and it is pretty much impossible to get it to drop by more than 1 LED when drawing the vapour (though Sweden in January is the time/place to try).

Seeing the size, and being able to touch the Solo at a shop was one of my deciding factors, although I purchased through Puff It Up! I spoke with Randy, and 2 different women(all very nice!) over the phone before purchasing, and am very happy with my Solo!

I wanted to comment about my earlier post concerning the Volcano.... it is definitely one of the best "party vapes" around, due to all of the reasons stated.... but I don't vape to party anymore, mostly medical, wellness reasons, so the Solo fits these needs best for me:wave:.

One of the main reasons I love the Solo so much is the taste and the less herb, to take you where you want to be. Welcome to the Solo family. Its not as smelly as some of the other portable vapes out there.

The PVHES stems make the Solo and even better unit with the ease of draw. I have the older model Solo.
Mine is a M1A4.

I couldn't fine my directions, I was curious is there at automatic shut off after a couple of minutes, if you space out and the unit sits unused?

My Solo is my desk top, with the plugin adapter. The large plugin units are cumbersome. I may buy The Baker when it comes out.

I'd tried the volcano at the Grey Area and loved it, but it is just a bit cumbersome for my usage. Prior to getting the solo I was considering the Plenty, and to a lesser extent the Pax.

In the end the all-glass airway swung it for me, and having tried a (possibly counterfeit) Pax subsequently, I think I made the right choice. But I'm still intrigued by the Plenty. It's either that or a second solo next...

Awesome, got a bit paranoid after reading about some units that was heating up incorrectly.
I will reach a whole new level of respect for the Solo if it can handle the Swedish winter!

Funnily enough the 'ease of draw' is another reason why I like the Solo so much. I was trying to find a substitute for joints, and the thin-ish mouth piece combined with restricted draw mimics them well. If you are used to pipes/etc., I can see the problem the custom glass solves for sure.
Shut off after 12 minutes, if that's what you are asking, though I thought all models had this?

You will probably exchange battery life for more effective deposition of vapour on the cold glass stem. Swedish cuisine being no stranger to butter and milk, you'll have a steady supply of amber stems to simmer prior to breakfast, lunch and dinner. Pretty sweet deal imho.

Unfortunately I'm all out of herb:\

Some people refuel there cars or trucks when there 1/2 full.
Some at 1/4 tank.
I am some where between 1/8 and 1/4 before I fill up.

Since the SOLO needs fuel (CANNABIS) 3.5 grams should be indication to refill.

28 grams is a full tank.
14 grams is a safe level.
7 grams is a reasonable inventory.
3.5 grams time to restock.

Running out can be devastating!

Now that you will have the SOLO you will need fuel!

Outer circumstances forced me to be in this situation...

Guess I can call it a T-break and see if that makes me feel better!

My Arizer Solo and Vapecase arrives in two days from GV. The model is M1B1 and they assured me it has all the latest features like better airflow and ability to use while charging they also said M1B1 is just a batch number and has nothing to do with improvements. I've noticed other post on FC stating that their M1D2 was not able to be use while charging. Anyway.. Can't wait!!

Just saying.. It's just a batch number..

My concern was if the new features (airflow amd use while charging) has to do with the model number and it doesn't.

Breaking a GonG is pretty devastating!

Running out of FLOWERS is like running out of gas in the middle of a traffic jam!

after a back and forth email with Kevin from Arizer i am really debating whether its worth it or not to send my Solo for repair??? I was told i would have to pre-pay $30.00 for return shipping (i didn't even pay that much for PV to send it to me new) and also pay to ship it to Arizer, which for me is international since they are in canada and i'm in the US.. so i am guess international shipping to Canada will be at least $20.00 probably more plus the $30.00 thats at least $50.00 if not more. they even requested i send priority to them so i am sure that is even more $$$$. My solo works... it's just a weird light pattern and the blue light is dead. i just can't decide if its worth spending almost half of what a new one would cost me???

Hey man lemme just give you my :2c: on the matter.
If I were you i'd

You are in USA right? I didn't buy from PV because I didn't want to spend $$$$ shipping it back and forth. If i was gonna take that risk of having to pay return shipping i would have bought a $130 eBay one ;)

But that's besides the point. I personally would leave it be until it gets worse, maybe throw a new battery pack in there and see if it helps fix things. If I were you I'm not too sure I'd spend half of what it's worth to get the lights thing fixed.

Obviously you know your solo better than I do but if it's just a light thing I wouldn't worry TOO much.

it is just a "light" thing right now but in March my 2 year warranty will be over so that is why i am debating

My advice? If it's still working, send it in as late as possible, and use it hard until you get a replacement!

I used to do this with my IBM THINKPADS with extended warranty when they were about to run out. Take out the hard drive, gather up my friends, see who can throw the laptop the furthest!

POST a LINK!
For what? Amazon should have everything on there, the roll of material I was talking about is simply shelf liner which I'm pretty sure can be found at Bed Bath and Beyond. I bought IRL because I wanted to feel the material before buying! The pad I set my glass on was marketed as a "silicone pot holder" so that should be easy to find retailers that carry it and accept PP :)
