Discontinued The Firefly Vaporizer

It's definitely easier to get my ABV darker in the Solo, for sure. One possible drawback with the Firefly is the difficulty in "finishing" a session with super dark brown ABV, if that's your preference. It's generally not mine, so I'm okay with that. But if you want serious high temp vaping, I'm not sure the FF is the right unit for you...at least not without some care and attention to your technique.

Ok so I'm back with another update. Today is day 18 of the FF. I've used it everyday since I received it. Just to recap some stats lol: I have a table top vaporfection that I've had for years and only used it when I first got it. Whip style and got sick of the whole process. I've lived off of the metal cigarette bats since I was 15 and I'm 35 now! Always saw it as discreet and a good way to be conservative wiff my stuffs. I don't usually puff away from my home or a home. Occasionally have been known to take a bat or a joint on the go. Well now I don't think I'll ever *smoke* again. Thanks to this site and the greet peeps on it first, 2nd to the makers of the ff and thirdly me for being good at the ff haha. There was def a learning curve, starting with in my opinion the most important element -----> drying out stuff that is sticky. I was lucky enough to pick up the ff the day I got it and produce (wasteful ) clouds and coughs. I have tried all types of grinds with 4+ strains. IMO best results will be specific to user draw technique being developed first and then from there decide if you want to go with the nug approach or hand grind, scs or near powder.
Also I think the reason the first bowl was so "successful" (for a noob) was because I had my previously dried out blue dream in near powder form.

I am here to say on day 18, I am putting away my grinder.

I tried the whole piece approach, it wasn't bad really. I can't say for sure if I got less off the whole piece vs the previous coarse grind.

I am MOST DEFINITELY using less with the hand breaking up method. And nothing too crazy either (as far as effort). Like little pieces, piled in the bowl. Not full. SLIGHT tamp down. Just a nudge. All kinds of room for vapor in and around the 4-6 little pieces. Earlier before dinner I took 3 pulls of fresh filled bowl like this. All three with visible exhale, but not crazy milky. Put it away, I came back and got like 8 more pulls, all with big exhale. That's more than I was getting from the full bowl of ground, the amount used is prob 30% less than the ground way.

It appears to be vaping pretty evenly....?
But at the same time I did take a TINY piece out cause it was real close to being blackened/charred.

And lemme tell ya, I got beeeeeg clouds with incredible ease,
So I think it's easier to get big big ones this way...?

Was able to get really dark dark tobacco looking abv this way. The darkest I've gotten.

Do we chalk it up to me getting good at ff

Or is it the new method?

And finally, maybe most importantly from my clean freak mentality, this way it's a lot cleaner. A lot. A LOT.

Last thing, I know someone else mentioned this like 20 pages back but, using a clean dry qtip on the lid inner glass when it is still warm is a great way to keep down on mess if you're home and can do that while you partake

I have used my new Firefly around 30 times or so, and tonight decided to try fbrinsleys Idea and compare the Solo with the Firefly, both with the same weight, .1g, and I have to say, so far, the Solo does seem to give a few more nice puffs, I usually start out getting as much as I can out of the solo on 3 or 4, for one sesh, then crank it up to 7 for the next. The first one better, but both very tastee and satisfying.
That being said, and to go as far as to split hairs, I would agree with others that the FireFly has the best overall vapor, so slight though... maybe because the vapor is cooler? which it definitely is., when the Solo is maxed out, the vapor is warm. But just warm, never hot. With the Firefly, the vapor is always cool cool. Even when the chamber end is warm, sometimes as hot maybe hotter that 110 degrees F. the vapor is still cool. As far as plant matter in my mouth. only a tiny bit, one time when I used the MFLB grinder, which is very fine. It was okay at the start, but once the herb gets kinda dry, the particles can fit thru the channels. Really, there are so many ways around that non issue, that It shouldn't bother most users IMO.

OK so I don't have years of vaping history, but many years of combustion behind me, once vaped, I NEVER looked back... now I seem to have come down with a condition, I think I read about somewhere here, was it V.A.S.? vape acquisition syndrome?

To date, 1 Iolite(hated it right from the start), Launch box(Who doesn't appreciate the MFLB?), The Volcano Digit( bought it cheap, couldn't resist), SOLO (yum yum, wowie zowie), and the FIREFLY (perfect vapor) I learned about all of these wonderful vapes (well maybe not the Iolite) Right here on this forum. Thanks everyone...

I ordered a red Firefly on Sunday and it was delivered by FedEx today, Tuesday.
I immediately plugged in the charger to get things going.
I watched as the blinking blue light kept right on blinking, even after 3 or so hours.
I unplugged it, removed and replugged the battery, plugged it back in to the AC power,
and the light went immediately to a solid blue, which designates a full charge.
I did a few empty bowl burn-offs since it is a new device.
I plugged it back in to get a full charge in preparation for tonight's activities.
Again, the blue light kept flashing for 2 hours, until I removed and replugged the battery,
at which point it went to a solid blue.
Has anyone else seen this type of thing?
I was thinking that the initial charge might take more than the quoted 45 minutes,
but this seems very odd to me.

Yes, this is no good for a brand new unit. It sucks to have to do, but get ahold of CS and they'll take care of you right quick. I think everyone here agrees on FF customer service.

Now that I think about it, the FF is the first vape I've ever bought that I didn't do any kind of burn-in on...

My initial charge didn't take more than 45 minutes, I am sure of that.

hi two ideas for FF 2.0.
1. you know how the ipad smart case is magnetized along the spine of the ipad? make the lid magnetized like that along an edge so if i want, i can just flip it open along the edge to give quick access for a quick herb mix. which leads to my idea b.
an embedded herb stirer ala the swiss army knife. to do away with those silly black toothpicks. the unit is large enough to give space for an embedded stirer of sorts.
these were my two convience additions on the dog walk.
i prefer to just shove nugs in the bowl. instant heat, no worries on pulling too hard, no debris in the mouth. i think i'm 4th bowl on same battery. am i doing it right? i mean am i getting way more out of my battery than you do? i've read some saying they're getting two sessions from one full charge.

That e-pik belongs in just about everybody's vapor tool box. It is so fucking handy that it's ridiculous.

FWIW, I'm the type of guy who soaks his keys and e-pik in ISO every night...

Took the day off work and had my first successful session with the FF this morning. Dark brown ABV at the end!

Medium grind to the top slightly tamped down, longer button holds and draws...and I pulsed the heater button at the end to finish it off (not saying I recommend everyone do this). Stirrings in between, of course. Got my ABV dark brown.

Thank you to everyone for your advice...I can start connecting with my Baby now...just need to do this consistently now.

The grind is too coarse if you are attempting to create an evenly extracted ABV. That is why I prefer not to use large chunks and go with a medium grind otherwise I think you will have to accept uneven ABV at least early in your sesh.

Also remember (I know you know) that you can hit the button more than once throughout your draw if you desire a heavier and thicker vapor which will provide darker ABV and more thorough extraction.

Experience really just improves once you have the technique down. Amazing that I can wake up, take a nice big vape hit and just walk away.

I agree, I have found my personal combo of rough finger grind directly into FF works for me. Draw is easy and clouds good. My ABV container is rapidly filling.

I prefer a nice tan ABV, I don't like to get it too dark, the flavor is not as nice. But I also love that I can hit it and make sure to draw air after I let go of the button so that the chamber cools down and I can leave the FF be for awhile and hit it again knowing that it will be just as tasty as if I hadn't waited.

That's why this goes beyond portable vape to "personal vape." You must be special for me to share with you!

i have a blister on the tip of my left pointy finger from extracting the battery from the unit. no shit. if i knew how to post a pic i'd show you all. so now i have to use a flat head screw driver to take the battery out... i've got to be the only moron to have gotten a stupid blister cuz i can't take a damn battery out. but aside from that the vapors from the FF are cool and super tasty. pity i couldn't have a blister on my finger from playing guitar. but if i have to get a blister on me finger, getting it from the FF is pretty cool also.

Received my replacement lid today, I really only bought it to have stashed away. but yeah the gray rubber seal on the inside of the lid wasn't glued down properly, it's lifting up. Like an inch long area. Spoke to Stacey on live chat and they said take a pic and send back. Not going to charge shipping supposedly. I will report back

I thought I was going to be the one and only. Thank you for sharing this. They have sent me three units FedX overnite and charged zero for freight. This company rocks from the start.

A little piece of electrical tape on the battery edge has helped me get the battery out since I cut my fingernails.

Yesterday I shared how pleased I was with FF customer service because they agreed to sell me an extra battery and external charger for $30+shipping (as per the Premium Package) even though my FF was purchased from Vapeworld and not directly from FF. I was told it likely wouldn't be shipped though until today and that I'd receive my items by the end of the week. Well, let me rave about these guys a little more because guess what just arrived. First you honor an expired deal and then I get my order less than 24 hours later? Thank you, FF. Simply, thank you!

Me FF is somewhere over the Atlantic possibly... Could be here by the end of this week or early next week! So excited!
Are there gonna be any spare screens in the box? What's the charger's output?

Yes, 3 of them! charger input 9volt 1.2 amp. Battery Lithium Ion 7.4 volt 750 mAh don't have an output on them anywhere.

Well the Firefly did better then any portable in my last major test/outing. I was able to medicated more on the go then any other portable vaporizer I have tried. It is more convenient to dump/load then the others vaporizers I have tried. You can power through a session in a minute or two. The quick heat up and cool down time really improves the session times. The taste is also better and smoother then almost all the portables I have tried. I was able to have 1 session right before the event, 2 sessions during the event, and 3 on the way home. I carried both extra batteries I have with me. I ended up going through two of the batteries... I could have pushed the first battery further, but I decided to just swap it out for a new one after the 3rd session. I was able to reload the vaporizer in the back seat of a car at night in the dark... that usually ends in a mess. I am very impressed with this portable...

I haven't tried my new FF yet, but I ran into this battery removal "problem" right away. I think I've McGuyver'd a simple solution however using scotch tape.

Crazy but I dont get that problem at all. I guess I do have long nails for a guy, not super long just a mm or so of free nail and I can remove the battery easily. The scotch tape is a nice hack though.
