Why cool the best vapor when it is already very cool? The Firefly makes it downright redundant and counterproductive. Just sayin'...
well i totally agree. i made the comment earlier that it would probably be sacrosanct to even suggest. i'm just a coughy bastard. it feels cool going down the FF vape but... again i blame the menthols.

i'd be real curious if anyone has a car charger solution yet.

Seriously, how can this thing keep getting better. I feel like I ride the nicest Harley on the road when I spark up my fly. It is getting so easy to get the exact effect and vapor I want. It reaches a whole 'nother level of pleasure when you stop having to think about it. Love this thing more all the time.
Yeah man i am with you on that. It keeps getting better. I cleaned mine yesterday and then fired it up....vapor is cool and thick all the time. I have put my PnP and my Hammer in the drawer. I will let friends play with those, no one will touch my FF and no one other than fuck combustion members will know that i own....yeah i am a selfish BASTARD!!!!

here's a few thoughts after 5 days with the FF. i listened to the boingboingnet podcast with the creators. and i can't help but wonder if too much emphasis was put on the user experience. you really should check out that podcast.

does anyone here that owns a FF also own a solo? i'm just curious. i'm comparing my FF experiences to the past six months of solo usage and i can't help but think the FF isn't exactly as user friendly as the creators had hoped for.

i will say that the FF for sure delivers better vapor taste, for me there is no doubt. i'm enjoying some of the tastiest vapes i've ever had pleasure. i just have a hunch my materials go twice as far in the solo. anyone care to chime?
I couldn't agree more, fbrinsley. I find the Solo does a much better job finishing off the load to dark, dark brown. I KNOW I'm getting most of the goodies with the Solo.

The FF is beautiful and suitable for most. But as a high-temp vaper, frankly, I'm quite disappointed. Better quality vapor? For sure. The full-spectrum of your goodies (that need higher boiling points)? Not even close.

I'll try the heater pulse tonight to see if I can get it hotter without setting it on fire.

"...and the toots from this snoozing puppy at my feet are off the friggn chart. blech."

Man, I'm going to have that image in my head all day. LOL

Don't light a match or you may blast the puppy right out of the room...

I only vape at high temps and I'm getting everything I need out of my meds when using the FF. Try slowing your draw a bit to raise the temp and extract those high temp actives.

I mostly agree, but if you get your grind fine enough, in the late stages of a session, you can extract all but maybe the last two good hits. I usually finish my FF material in the V Tower at 210-220C, but I've never extracted more than two decent hits from it.

Be careful pulsing the button. In general a risky maneuver with the FF. :uhoh:

I am very tempted to add this one to my collection but the cost seems high because of the battery cost. I would definitely buy an extra battery. A person needs to buy a separate adapter to charge the extra battery? I assume you can charge with the battery inserted in the unit too.

I was reading something that Slim was saying a few threads back about the separate adapter to charge a battery while you were using a unit or away from home. When I'm on the go I want to be charging a battery while I'm away, so I have a fresh battery when I get home. Im just curious about the cost. I know the unit is $269 and the extra battery would be $50 and I was curious about the cost of an adapter.

No guarantee but if you call or chat the firefly website they were still honoring the pro package for 299 which includes an extra battery and charger. At some point they are going to cut that but you may still get in there. Sarah C. is just the best that cs has to offer.

FWIW, using the external charger, I recharged the only battery I had with me today at the diner in-between classes.

Little fucker is handy. By the time lunch was done, my battery was ready.

Nice to be able to charge up without exposing my 'fly. :o

Thanks for the tips, everyone. Still cannot seem to extract enough, though. I feel like a Vape Spaz!

I get some dark pieces, but the rest is only medium-tan. Grrrrrr!

Pretty sure the unit is functioning correctly and it seems to get plenty hot after a bit...my technique must still be wrong. I'll keep at it. I really want to love this thing...

Oh, yeah, listened and haven't double pulsed yet.

I'd recommend laying on the button longer. If I press mine for more than 10 seconds with a slow, MFLB-like draw it's a guarantee for combustion. Then I learned to pull just a tad bit harder and found my sweet spot that results in a nice, solid brown ABV. So maybe try to find what it takes to combust with your FF first and then speed up your draw from there? With more practice you'll figure out which technique can give you the dark ABV you're looking to get.

Well I baught a firefly with extra battery and now the waiting starts I guess, I look at this unit as a super doper MFLB on steroids lol
I imagine the taste will be nice being that it has a SS vapor path and a glass bowl and heating chamber.
Now the only thing that concerns me is the fact that it will combust if you don't have the right technique so stirring is a must.
I can't wait to try it out.

I will try those exact techniques. Really appreciate you taking the time to guide Vape Spaz!

Wonder if I have a unit that doesn't get hot enough? Just a thought...

Have a great evening!

It's possible, but I think unlikely. When I first received my unit I combusted. Then I sped up my draw too much and kept getting the light tan ABV that you describe. Then after a few more attempts I dialed it in and found my sweet spot. Minimal changes in draw speed can cause somewhat drastic changes in temperature.

hey dogga we're in the same boat. if it's not that my materials are blackened, then i can't seem to brown them to satisfaction. i'll do great one sesh and then next sesh is a bust. i dunno wtf. in my head i think i'm doing the same thing everytime.
i'm going to measure out .1 grams for the FF and .1 for the solo. and do my side by side peer reviewed study of materials longevity in the FF vs the solo. hopefully i'll remember to post results.

just measured out .1 closer to the .2 for a FF session. could barely smash it all in there. here goes nuthin :)

well close to .2 in the FF didn't yield as much as i would have expected. i got about 7 really nice pulls from a bowl stuffed and smashed as much as possible and materials were darrrrk brown.

do i have to do the solo part of this p2p study now?

Its all about heating the herb first to prepare the trichomes for there release of tch through the right temps but think of it as gravy mix you heat the mix but nothing happens until the right temp is acquired then there's a reaction and the gravy thickens same concept with vaping the herb needs to get to the right temp first then it can start releasing THC.
Its like preheating a oven.
Maybe a bad example but that's how it works.

For me, it was not difficult to get results from the FF, but it did prove semi-difficult to start getting EXPECTED results. But it really just takes practice. Of the vapes I've used, I don't think I've used quite the same inhalation technique as I am with the FF, so it did take a while.

Heck, I'm still finding a better technique "every day" :brow: at this point. It does reward the practice. I mean, I can't believe how easy it is to vape 100 percent legal herbs while I'm out and about now. And, as far as I can tell, completely undetected.

Don't let the weight of the unit fool you - it can be used as a stealthy portable. This, I know.

If you have 30 seconds, you have time to take a damn fine toke from the FF and be good to go. With your FF hidden away at the 30 second mark and no more cooking. It's fucking sweet.

Now they just need a power adapter that lets us use while charging or with no battery and it'll really be a two-for-one.

i'm actually looking forward to dog walks now. hehe. cept when i cross paths with that greyhound rescue guy down the street the friggin creep.

The only trouble I have is maintaining a steady pull while walking. At this point, I need to stop and do my thing and then move on. Maybe it's because my muscular coordination is impaired by the oodles of college girls around though.
