I hold it by the SOLO.
I have 20 different setups this is a pretty good one I keep coming back to!
Why we hold ataxian in such high esteem is because his madness has method and his method has madness - add to that his very special gift of verbal expression!!!

OK! Looks like things are definitely improving on the vapor front. ........................... Give it a shot!

Most definitely 'give it a shot' but make sure your not exhaling back thru the stem to avoid unnecessary chamber & under cap cleaning ;)

I think you've got a good handle on production now... so its time to 'play' a bit to find YOUR own preferences and tweaks. Enjoy the journey, fun is in your future

OK! Looks like things are definitely improving on the vapor front. If I may, I'd like to suggest some refinement to your technique which employs the pulse/pause method I suggested earlier: rather than repeatedly removing the stem from your lips after a 5-10 second draw (allowing the heater to re-up and cook the herb some), try leaving the stem to your lips for the entire sequence i.e., with stem to lips all-the-while, draw 5-10 seconds, then pause a few seconds, then draw again and then pause again...until you've had your fill. During a pause (w/stem to lips) you may lightly pull in a small amount of air thru the corner of your mouth - just enough to avoid the sensation of lung starvation. A simple breakdown of the start/stop sequence outlined above puts the convection aspect to work while drawing (start), and the conduction aspect to work while pausing (stop), adding in a few breaths of air in between just to keep the lungs happy, and again I emphasize all-the-while maintaining stem to the lips. Less of a workout on the arm too - less up and down up and down. Also, while vapor production was still apparent well into your video session, it was progressively thinning. This gives evidence that the low-temp actives in your herb at that level were getting spent, informing you that to reinvigorate production you must bump it up a level in order to activate more of the actives that remain. To keep vapor density flowing pretty consistently, I have found it effective to elevate the temp level a notch or two every other sequence. Of course, load your bowl with as little or as much herb as your session will require using this method. Following all that, you should discover that your entire 12 minute vid session time will be cut by at least half or more. In all, less time, less workout on lungs and arm. It may seem a little clumsy for you at first (being new and unfamiliar), but I think this method will set a new standard of performance and ease for you. Give it a shot!

Wow! Thanks a bunch for this essay of advice. Appreciate it, and will certainly give this a go/do some experimenting.

I also found it rather poetic that you 'liked' my post (the one with the most recent video) at 4:20 PM EST. Ha!

(From the description at the vapesforless site)
"Vapir NO2 Vaporizer Screen Set is a fine steel mesh, 1/2 inch in diameter, molded into a hat-like shape."

Yes , those are the screens I've been using for the past 2+ years in my Solo .
Keep in mind , they will lose their top-hat shape over time and usages . That's when I use a pen to push them back in to get the rounded dome shape .

I re-use them also , a Quick iso soak will get the resin/debris off .
They will get stain too , with usages .

A pack of 20 will last me a year , aprox

Enjoy

Well, I made another video, but the lighting was poor. Tried blowing the vapor in front of a brown curtain, but upon further review, no dice.

Not sure it's worth uploading, but I am. May need to make an entirely new video.

Excellent! Do it in the name of science. It's for a good cause. Let nothing go to waste:science:!

Here's the shitty video.

I'll be uploading another one later tonight. Rather baked right now, and trying to conserve nugs (work's a little slow)... but later this evening, maybe midnight'ish-2 am est, I'll have another one up with better lighting... ideally, everyone will be able to see the vapor.

Herd Giver, I see your avatar it makes me almost cry, I miss George Carlin so much. Love that you chose him. Glad you are a fellow Solo fan as well as a Carlin fan too.

I have a strain of herb now that turns a light golden brown color and does not release any more vapor and is spent. I can continue to cook it till its dark but no more of the good stuff left.

The Solo is a hard little worker. This Solo works so well, I don't know if I want one of the new ones (I have the old model bought in July 2013) I was thinking about getting another one, and i like the feature how you can charge while using. I have an adapter so I can use the one that I have while plugged in, but will not charge. It sounds like some folks are really happy, but some are getting weak vapor flow.

Maybe some draw backs to the new model. I will keep watching and waiting before I decide. I value all your info. I know it's hard work, but somebody's got to do it.

I'm a newbie here and I'm from Canada! First off hello to everyone here!

Now for the arizer solo itself, I heard the discreetness in public was not that good but that it was extremely effective producing some good tasting vapor. Should I opt for something like the magic flight launch box instead? I usually only vape when I take walks with buddies and stuff, so I wouldn't really be using this vape inside so keep that in mind.

Also curious, did any of you guys order from www.montrealvaporizers.com ? I see they offer free shipping, free grinder and some other gift they throw in as well. Can any canadians or others that have ordered comment please? I'm close to ordering please let me know ASAP, I need to get into this vape lifestyle :)

Thanks in advance guys!

I noticed , they're selling it for $ 200 .
Planetvape.ca is selling it for $ 160 and freebies also .
They're located just outside of Toronto and I can vouch for them .

This vid has me scratching my head a bit. Didn't see any vapor, and couldn't make out your comments (garbled). What was your impression this go round? Ordinarily level 2 will produce very little visible vapor, but will give effect. Based on my observations of your efforts, I would venture to say that your next try should go something like this, starting at level 3: 3/4 bowl - Do not pack too tight or loose - Let fresh bowl cook for 30 seconds after reaching level 3>>>long light draw (8 sec)>>>4 second pause>>>another long light draw>>>4 second pause>>>short light draw>>>up temp to 4/let cook for 30 seconds>>>long light draw (8 sec)>>>4 second pause>>>long light draw>>>pause>>>short light draw>>>up temp to 5/let cook for 30 seconds>>>repeat prior draw & pause sequence>>>leave at level 5/cook for 30 seconds>>>repeat sequence w/only one long and one short draw w/short pauses>>>stop/check ABV color & stir>>>finish bowl @ level 5 or 6.

...Or, long slow draws only (that works too!)

This all may seem rather robotic at first, but soon becomes automatic and natural without forethought, and can be varied once the performance dynamics are intuitively familiar. The method I outlined above is by no means the only way to go. Once one becomes familiar with the heating dynamics of the Solo, a variety of methods will work great - long slow draws only, short pulses, a mix of both, etc.

Wow! Seems like a somewhat intricate ritual you have there.

All I do is suck up a full unpacked stem of ground bud, then push it down a bit with my finger so it wont fall out when inverted (and so the herb doesnt contact the heater directly). Still a loose pack by most peoples standards.

Set the Solo to level 5 and let it warm.

Once its at 5 and I see condensation in the lower stem, i go at it with long slow draws.

Win every time without exception.

Absolutely! The method I outlined above is by no means my always go to ritual or necessarily the only way to go at it. However, what I am offering is as much an exercise in Solo exploration as it is an exercise in learning how to breath in different ways suitable for vaping. Once one becomes familiar with the heating dynamics of the Solo, a variety of methods will work great - long draws only, short pulses, a mix of both, etc.
