I am curious but do they sell any sort of power box to plug this into instead of a wall outlet? So that you could use this in a car (keeping in mind I have a car adapter that adds an outlet to my car) or an indoor place without outlets?

For a flavorful but longer session, start at 160C, each draw or two, step up 5 or 10 degrees.... till you reach your desired max temp.

For a quick but stronger session, start at 200C.. (some stay, some go much higher... depends on preference/needs).

Either way, preheat the adapter! Mine retains heat nicely and becomes an extension of the glass on my heater, affording a bit of protection against too much temperature drop when drawing...

Vape On!

My extreme q finally stopped turning on today. It has seen no abuse and sat on it's table the majority of it's life. Anyone else run into this issue? It started off with just not turning on every once in awhile but seemed to work if I unplugged and replugged in or adjusted the cord, but now it does nothing. The cord isn't roughed up or anything, so I'm not sure what to. Is there a ghetto fix for this anyone can come up with? I need my baby back and I just hit the 3 year mark 2 weeks ago making this out of any possible warranty from what i know.

One of the most common failures is the power brick. Do you have a way to test it?

Just a few questions so I don't have to scour the entire thread.

How big is a normal load size? How big is a full pack? For both the elbow pack and chamber pack respectively.

With the newest units (4.0) how is the noise while it's on. Quiet? Kind of loud? You can hear something but it's negligible?

Any recommended mods to increase performance for smaller loads? Is it possible to have smaller loads in this? (.05 - .1 range)

Around how many bags can you fill full per full chamber pack? I saw a video where someone claimed they could fill around 4.

What seems to work best? Taking whip hits or bag hits? Is it preference?

How many times can you reuse the bags?

Overall for transport purposes how easy do you guys think it is to transport this device? (Lets say from my house to a friends) Just put it in a backpack? Is it safe to do that? I find some "at home" type things to be quite a hassle to take around if needed as they aren't meant to be flipped upsidedown, etc.

Lastly, for cleaning the whip how would one go about doing that?

Thanks! I definitely am considering this one once I have the cash. Any other feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Hello everyone, first message here. Ive been reading through this forum for a few weeks now and i ordered my extreme q on December 30th. i ordered from torontovaporizer.ca and it looks like a great site. however looks can be deceiving. this company is terrible. i ordered with 4-8 day shipping and it has been 21 days and still no vape at my house. i have contacted the company almost everyday and they are useless and are no help. the tracking code they gave me was last updated January 5th, which was 15 days ago... on their website it says "Combined with the fact that our packages never go through customs like all the other “drop-ship style” online stores, you can be rest assured that we will get your package to you faster than any other online vape store." this folks is completely incorrect. my package did in fact go through customs and has been there for the last 15 days. Besides that the supposed fastest shipping is completely wrong. i paid for 4-8 day shipping and its been 21 so far and is still no vape. i really like this forum and i wanted to tell people to stay away from that website. i hope my vape comes soon so i can tell you all about it. thanks for the tips and advice everyone.

Have you tried out the adapter yet? I'd like to here your experience with it versus the stock adapter ? Also how's the q treating you , I should have mine this week , ordered silicone tubing also yesterday.

I heard or think you can put some on a cotton ball and vape it but I'd do a search .

Wow, that's actually a lot of ground to cover. Complete answers would take a lot of posts; after all, this is a long thread and a substantial amount of the content is discussion of your topics. Furthermore, most now following the thread are also relatively new to the Q, most of the in-depth content is much earlier in the thread and most of those posting then have since moved on. I'll throw out some abbreviated answers off the top of my head, but just please note that the standing recommendation is to use Search and/or browse through the whole thread . . .

There is no "normal" load size. Depends on setup, technique, material, grind, bag vs whip. Average in the Cyclone is from a third to no farther than the black teflon. I used ~.15-.2g for whip, ~.35g for bags (social), ~.25g for elbow-pack.

Noise level on Fan 3 is about the same as a typical 80mm desktop computer, ~30dB. Generally the fan is only used with the bag.

Yes, there are mods that work with just .1g or less. You can search those out but fwiw the one I prob like best is not entirely detailed here: The "DDave adapter" w/screen combined with the Q glass elbow but with the elbow screen flattened (or the "mini-ELB" described in the Cloud thread). Makes for a close and shallow bowl.

Yes, you can probably get 4 bags out of a fully loaded Cyclone, but 3 is more common with the 3rd pretty light (but still good vapor). A lot depends on herb and technique. And bag size, obviously.

Whip vs bag is 2 diff animals. Whip is direct draw, bag is passive draw. Depends on setup and preference. Bag vapor is thinner than direct draw. Many recommend starting with the bag to familiarize yourself with the machine, then later move to the whip. I haven't used a bag in years.

Bag reuse, again, just depends. A dense bag slowly sipped will collect a lot of condensation. Some want a fresh bag, others want to save the pennies (and care less about being fastidious, those bags can get pretty grody after a while). I do strongly recommend using Reynolds oven bags. While being more square which makes setup a bit more challenging, and also being slightly smaller, they are a helluva lot cheaper than Arizer's.

Not difficult to transport. Now, it's no portable, that's for sure. But a small backback? Sure. Just be careful with the glass pieces and protect the heater, e.g., wrap a dish towel over the unit. A relatively inexpensive gun case with the foam cut-out, works very well.

Finally, the whip: Buy some silicone (a gazillion posts here and there's a separate thread, too). Then decide if you will reclaim (I didn't, but I'm told the string/screw method works OK). Can be cleaned with ISO but the resin stain will still set in. My suggestion is to buy enough tubing to replace it periodically; runs about a $1 a foot. And unless you really need a 3 ft whip, cut it down about a foot.

That's my :myday: :2c:

Good luck with your decision.

Thank you very much. This is next on my list of purchases :).

What would you say is the most you could pack at once?

Elbow + Bowl

If by bowl you mean the Cyclone, you definitely would not pack it and the elbow together. (And btw, you don't want to "pack" the Cyclone; the herb should be ground fluffy and be loose so that it gets good air circulation). Way too much drag; with the whip you'd have to pull hard and with the bag, the fan won't be able to satisfactorily push air through the load.

What are you trying to accomplish with such a large load?

thats next for me as well..i need something glass and small for water!!
I opted for a simple WT... similar to this one, but no color, and an 18mm ground glass interface (not a grommet as seen here). Also, obtained a much better diffusing downstem than pictured. Just couldnt find a darn picture of mine. Maybe later will upload and post. Size and shape similar to this one though and the bottom water / top ice combo makes any vapor session awesome!

Guy's i have a bong thats a 1 footer and i would like to convert to glass on glass to use my q with it. Do i need a 18mm female downstown to do this ? i see they have on ebay 18mm/14mm slotted downstem , whatever that means , im looking to do this really cheap. Also with the bong being 1ft should i go with a 3.5'' downstem or larger , i dont have it with me to measure ? thanks

Thx, @DDave. :)

I came across this adapter. It's more expensive, but the buyer can query the blower directly and the quality is top notch.

As @DDave posted, you want a 18/19mm GonG joint. It should be glass, so if you want durability, look for heavier borosilicate. Personally I prefer bubblers for vaporizing; IME usually less water, less drag, more action, better diffusion. There are some really good threads here in the Glass section of the site.

A 14mm downstem works also. I think you can find the adapters for around $11

i want to try and do it without having to get a adapter , are the q's glass parts 18mm or 14mm that fit into the downstem of a bong ?

If you have silicon tubing instead of the stock pvc it will work better than the glass. I think the glass is too small
