Two observations leading to suggestions based on your video: 1). raise temp level after at least two draws (ex. level 2/2 draws...then level 3/2 draws...then level 4/etc...); 2). rather than taking long uninterrupted draws, pulse/pause your draws (ex. draw a few seconds, pause a second or two and resume, and repeat). While pausing, you can sneak light breaths through the corners of your mouth. This will keep lungs satisfied throughout the draw/pulse sequence. Further, this method allows the heat chamber to better maintain/recover from the cooling effect of the draw. Please try it and let us know if this improves your experience.

I have some questions that I posted on GC and got no response. Hopefully you can help. I am planning to purchase a solo for a friend. I got one last year and it was the M1A model. Now I read that there are newer models, but do the newer models differ at all?
Also, does it have to be purchased by an "authorized dealer" to gain the warranty?

Yes the newer models can be used while charging (slows charge time significantly though) and they have made the holes in the heater a little larger to improve airflow which has gotten mixed reviews, some like the airflow, others say the hits are more airy now.
No it does not need to be purchased from an authorized retailer to get warranty service but when you do, you usually handle warranty problems directly through the retailer, which can be easier.

I had a M1A model and have a M1C. id say go for the M1A since you already had a good experience with it. I feel my M1A's cloud production couldn't be beat but this airy new M1C gives me light clouds. But maybe its just mine not sure still testing.

I hate to admit it, but my M1A definitely produced more clouds at lower temps compared to my new M1C...after warranty replacement, I received the newer one that charges and vapes simultaneously. Damn light issues...miss my older one. The new charger is ok, but it is glitchy and I don't like that.

I just picked up an Arizer Solo and can't wait to use it! I have had two Da Buddha's that have been unfortunately confiscated by the 'rents because it was too big and hard to hide (but definitely hits like a truck). I've heard this is one of the best-hitting portable vapes and it was strongly recommended by a gal at the local head shop (she had one herself).

I've been reading about the different versions and it looks like the one that I got is an M1D: does anyone know what the difference is between the D and the A,B,C versions?

Congrats! Awesome device!

If I understand what's been posted, A&B share similar components. C&D, the newer models, the share similar as well. There is talk of an A model with oven with ceramic coating that got hotter than the later units. I have a C unit and "dry", have not gone beyond level 5 (save to experiment). Plenty hot and my ABV is plenty dark!

Bummer!!! After nine months of flawless performance, my Solo gave up the ghost. Happened while using: tasted and smelled that familiar burnt electronics oder. The unit still charges fine, but the heating curcuit is gone: the red heating indicator works, but even a finger in the heater shows there is no heat at all-of course the yellow temperature lights don't come on but the blue idle light is active.
Contacted the ebay vender and sent the Solo back for warrenty replacement. Will let ya all know how it goes and the venders name after this is resolved.
Still have my EQ as a backup-sort of(not portable). I do like the way the Pinnacle Water Tool works with the EQ, probably would have never tried it since it is usually paired with a bong, but this gave me the oppotunity to try something different again. Wow!! What a smooth draw.

Life is a compromise. So are the vent holes that apparently have been opened up (in response to our insistence.......). They were a compromise before, of course, but the rules have shifted. You can't please everyone, of course.

An important thing to remember, I think, is that Arizer no doubt tested the hole size very carefully in the early development and decided on the original compromise. I seriously doubt they went with the first size they tried. Likewise, as I've said, they went to a lot of trouble to design and produce the original 'charge or PA' configuration, the current one (like a cell phone really) is easier and cheaper to make.....one has to wonder why. I believe it was to better protect the battery which they knew would be hard for end users to replace?

Newer is not always better. Only different. I'm sure you can think of examples where 'the old ones were better made'? Consider the premium placed now on the 'defective' ceramic bowl units of old.

Solo is a great vape, no doubt about it. The owner of either model has an excellent tool I think. But it's a compromise design, how well that fits your needs and desires depends on you really. One interesting thought for those 'stuck' with new units wishing they had more restriction........seems to me a fellow could block those little holes fairly easily? Maybe a thin piece of SS wire (like from the braided wire used to hang pictures) bent into a staple shape and poked into two of the holes from the top? Easy to put in and take out......

I have the M1D model and the M1A. With the M1D model, I get great hits with the stock stem. When using my PVHES stems, it's too airy- get much better hits with the STOCK stem!

honestly. everyone is like turn it to 7 take a hard hit go to 2, take a hard hit go to 4 take a hard hit...or something honestly there is no pattern. i get fking baked. this is what i do:

step 1: back the bowl with a screen in it placed concave ie: |(herb
Step 1a: pack it tight..but loose. don't jam it in just push it in so its firm but no stuffed.
step 2. place the stem in the hole...duh...
step 3: turn the unit on to 4 and wait....
step 4: after it has settled on lvl 4 for 30 secs.. take a long gentle hit, sucking hard just at the end for a sec.
step 5: wait for it to heat up a bit after the first hit, and take another long slow hit...you'll notice a bigger cloud and less green taste..
step 6: now every time it settles at lvl 4 again take a long sorta strong but gentle hit (you'll learn) you will get a huge cloud.
step 7: do this for the entire 12 mins
step 8: turn it back on to lvl 6 and repeat steps 4-7. after that repack and do it all once more...

enjoy...

PS: i know you all have your way... this is my opinion.. i think you'll like it.

also..my thought of the day. its against the law to ship marijuana across the border..so lets say your solo breaks down..has to go for warranty.. and it has marijuana residue and a few greens under the cap.. think youd get busted?

I am more then happy with my M1D2 so much that I put my da vinci in the box and it's been there since the 1st of the year

The possibility is always there if the man wants to bust you. IMO if the man wants to bust you they'll get you. I've shipped vape stuff around, mind you I cleaned everything with ISO first, and nothing's happened. I figure they care more about the actual drugs being shipped (from weed to LSD blotter to pills) than a crumb of vaped nug. That being said, I would definitely give it a clean with iso wherever possible and blast it with some compressed air.


About this technique talk, I find that filling the stem and letting it sit for ~30 seconds after it reaches your temp is enough to get a good start. If you don't get good hits, chances are too much moisture in the flower.

I dont have any legos, but i use a fresh roll of toilet paper for a stand for my solo with the gong.

I like to start my temp on heat level 4, then make my way to level 6 during my 12 min session. If I use the WT I start at heat level 5 then make my way to 7. level 2 seems too cool to get much vapor.

Also different strains of herb get darker than others when spent.

That was at 6.

Hc battery from centizen coming on Saturday. Not soon enough ! Solo is on it's last leg one session depletes it to level 5 -4. Still producing huge lsv sized clouds with the current herb so I'm happy and very medicated..

Perhaps this means that I would have been a candidate for a turbo PVHES if I had one of the old models. I much prefer the PVHES with my M1D2.

An excellent point I hope everyone understands about 'this sort of vape' (as opposed to say Cera, MFLB, Persei or the rest of the "open loop" units). This is a closed loop system. The output controls the input. It heats until it's hot enough then shuts off until it cools too much before the heater starts up again. Weak batteries only make it slower to reach temperature the first time and change the "duty cycle" (ratio of on to off time). Weak batteries have to work harder (time wise) to carry the load, but as long as the heat LED cycles it's at the exact same vaping temperature it ever was. It just won't do it as long between charges.

Just like your house. A bigger heater just runs less minutes per hour, the thermostat keeps the living room at the same temperature. Open a window, the temperature is the same (within reason of course, don't try the experiment during the current attack of 'global warming'......). The thermostat simply has the heater run longer to make up for the loss. Just like (to a first order) hitting the Solo doesn't cool it off.

Open loop vapes (with no real temperature control) OTOH suffer temperature and power wise from weak batteries, top quality is needed for top performance.

Big difference.
