Underdog Log Vapes

I would try taking the end of a pen/poky stick and push the screen into shape using the stem it should form a nice little cup with natural resistance to sliding down the tube so long as they're fairly sturdy...

oh and Dave do you know if my package to you was received?

Surprised no one has pointed out any favorites from the refresh yet, everyone must be too fogged up from their Holiday Vapes still huh? I think my personal favorite from the batch is the Black Locust (15997) piece.. I think I'm a sucker for fluorescence (under black light) Dogs.

Oh yeah, before I forget again, we also changed the stem options with the refresh and are now giving you guys even more stems as part of the standard kit. Now you get your choice of 4 premium stems (Nylon, Direct Draw, 14mm GonG) as part of the kit.

@ TwoPageAfro - Ah, sorry for the confusion, the 5/8" screens are for the old style GonG stem with the pinch but won't really work in the new style. The new style GonG stem uses the new formed screens. I can see the reason for confusion, the new style GonG page indicates using the formed screens but the screen page description just says use the 5/8". We'll have to fix that and make it less confusing. Send me a PM (or email) and I'll get you setup with formed screens no worries. Re: your extension cord is fine, at low voltage like what we use AC or DC makes no difference. :2c:

@ irishroots - Yep, came in yesterday.. forgot to email you and haven't had a chance to mess with it yet. Will get it up on the bench and take a looksee here in the next day or two. :peace:

whats the max temperature for the UD?

Hey Cawshook - The wall wart (stock brick power supply) that comes with the UD runs it at a little bit below combustion temps. With a VVPS (Variable Voltage Power Supply), you can run it as low as you want all the way up to combustion.

I actually know a guy who doesn't care for vaping, but will sit down with an UD and crank up the VVPS to intentionally combust using a direct draw stem, lol.

Thanks for the reply. That guy is just asking for trouble lol

Hey Underdogs, as I do at the beginning of each year I'm taking a look back at the last 12 months and evaluating how things went.

Do any of you have any feedback, comments, suggests, etc that you'd like to share?

Anything specific you'd like to see from us this year?

uuuummmmhhhhh... hows about a custom gong/direct draw stem not really a big deal but i'd throw my cash at a custom slyme gong, maybe an 18mm gong, how about custom 'stash' boxes with stem caddies maybe some lazer etching or ornate plating with drawers and shit... idk just some half-vaked suggestions.

anywho your shit is awesome and i look forward to doing business with you in the future

You could quit making such beautiful pieces. Really testing my willpower there guys.

My only suggestion is add the SS tips to the website. Maybe a warning on the dogs. Something along the lines of "WARNING: This unit will blow your fucking mind".

Keep up the great work guys!

The only thing I'd like to see incorporated into your vapes would be some sort of stainless steel heater cover/restrictor plate. The airflow definitely needs to be a lot more restricted imo... like to the tune of around 60%. Both of my dogs hit way too airy for my tastes.

for example: UD + TT heater cover = teh win! :science::rockon:

I respectfully disagree. I'm in love with that open airflow. I get very dense hits. Not very airy at all.

I like those, I found the thread not too long ago. Is it designed to stay on 24/7 like the dog?
He says they are as long as you are below 15 watts. I'm new to electronics and high school physics class was a long time ago so someone correct me if I'm wrong here but @ 14v we are around 10 watts ... I would never turn my dog up that high but I believe that's the highest recommended voltage so seems like we're golden. With the "120 day no questions asked warranty" mine will be on 24/7.

You would need to turn your vape up to at least 15v to get it to break 10 watts. 6 - 7.5 watts is the normal load of a resistor based vape at 12 - 13v.

Honestly if anything is going to fail it's probably going to be the wall adapter. I've got some of these circuit boards running 24/7 for testing purposes, nearly a month at this point. They have had no issues and I don't expect any. They are the same board used for the miniVVPS, and I can confidently attest to their reliability.

All these custom VVPS units are making me a sad panda right now. Tried to order the miniVVPS and the VK and both PayPal checkouts denied both of my cards! I'm assuming it's all due to the recent data breaches. I can see I've got money on both cards. Weird.

Still, I managed to score this brand new unit for $75 shipped:

I originally purchased a similar looking unit (HY1803D), but have since put in a request to cancel my pending order. There's a lot of these units out there and they all sort of look the same. From my research, the HY1502D is best suited for use with our log vapes. This particular one maxes out at 15v/2a.
