The Lotus Vaporizer

Be prepared for a long shipping wait from DX... they do have great prices though if you are not in a hurry. I've ordered several of my torch lighters from them. I did notice one of my DX honest lighters had a pretty big crack in it not long after buying it, not sure if I dropped it, or if maybe some ISO got on there by accident, but that lighter is no longer in use. Speaking of lighters shipping, I should be getting another one of these in the mail today.

Only suitable torch at a tobacco shop cost 20 bucks and had terrible build quality (much worse than the honests).

Welcome to the void. Where you feel you won't need any other vape despite the relatively low investment.

I definitely think my Lotus is getting more frequent use than any of my other vapes now... not that I am ready to fluff them off by any means, but I do show a lot of attention to my Lotus.

I don't mind MassDrop, but the wait after you order is torture. The lotus is already reasonably priced for what it is and you will probably be waiting much longer than you want if you go the MassDrop way. Just my .

Like Jam said, i wouldn't sell my HI or my VHW but i haven't used them much either since i got the Lotus.

The thing i love most about the Lotus is what natural farmer said a lot, i remember it because now i understand what he meant, you can use the Lotus in any way you want.

You can kill the load in a few big hits or you can sip it and take your time with it.

If you buy it with the wpa, it works great with a straight tube or any other water piece. It's the same as a bong rip but with a longer heat time since when you combust you just need to flame it for 2sec.

It is perfect to take to a friends house, or camping, or on any kind of trip since you can clean it thoroughly.

I don't have any of the popular big hitters like EVO, Herbalizer, Sublimator or even the MiniVAP.

But, from the videos i have seen, the Lotus at 1/4 to 1/6 of the price is a MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH better bargain considering what you get.

So, if you don't have the funds to invest in one of those, definitely consider a Lotus.

I have to be honest, until it got in my hands i was afraid i would be unsatisfied or i would still use my HI at home and as such the Lotus would be mostly in the drawer.

But it has surpassed my expectations.

The only problem i see with the Lotus at the moment is, if you overdo your hits you can prematurely harm the wood top.
On that subject i would like to address a question to Max, is it out of consideration a ceramic Lotus cap? Offered at a higher price if that is what it takes.
Or a glass cap?

I would definitely jump on that. Definitely.

I literally just bought that same lighter...8 bucks at a LHS

Shockingly similar to the honest- only real difference is lower quality screws, no cuts in the end cap, and of course, a much larger fuel tank.

I had sanded off most of the charred ring underneath the cap last month and started running my Lotus with a small flame (about 1/2" or 12mm) to see if the ring would re-develop. I would like to report that after several weeks of usage the sanded area underneath the cap looks to be in the same condition as when first sanded.

Since using the small flame I don't seem to get the wood taste at all even during longer duration hits.

I would like to be able to use a medium sized flame (e.g. 5/8"+) for longer duration/high-temp hits. Want to try a a gasket-type ring to shield the wood from high temps the cap may be subjected to. I ordered this mica plate to use as shield ring material however have concerns that the silicone resin may not be safe at high temps.

EDIT: I wonder what type of mica is used in the vapman.

Yeah, i think the mica is a nice idea although i recall something about mica dust being harmfull to your lungs, but the silicone will probably leave some taste and offgass won't it?

EDIT: Scratch that, i didn't notice the silicone was part of the mica sheet. In that case, i have no idea what will happen.

To me, the Xing doesn't look as honest.

If the Lotus was featured in a movie, with a really cool glass piece, everybody would want one. I sold my volcano, that says it all!

Definitely picking one of these up with a j-hook when finances improve. I have a Vapman, and it's great for camping trips. This one looks like a nice little powerhouse for around the campfire and perhaps a little more user friendly when sharing with friends.

Most of the time I purposely won't use my flame vapes around groups, if possible, to avoid passing it around and having that awkward, trying to explain how to use it, then watching them do it wrong and mess it up routine that leaves everyone feeling bad. I did however, get to experience my first blind hand off with the lotus, to a friend with very little instruction, they got it right the first try, and it was a lot less scary for me while they hit it because I knew the lotus would be more forgiving. I would not do that with a VG style flame ape, out of fear of combustion. It was very cool to just have a relaxing positive experience handing it to a newbie.

That's encouraging. I'm always the dude with the weird toys lol so it's nice to have something that people can pick up quickly and enjoy.

Yeah, I've had great success showing newcomers how to use the Lotus. They almost all get it on the first try. The ones who seem to have the most difficulty are regular smokers -- they're used to the harshness of smoke, so they don't realize they're getting vapor until they have too much to handle.

I have to repeat what was said, i had a friend try the Lotus (he owns the Solo but is a relatively inexperienced vaporist.) and he got the hang of it right away... and you can always wait 20sec and tell them to stop.

Since the torch provides such a steady source of heat, airflow mostly influences how much cannabinoids they'll gulp in a hit... especially in the first hits.
In the last hits there is an added risk of combustion as you know.

Double screen or a finer mesh screen will keep the stem cleaner for much longer. Other than that, don't use a fine grind.

I don't think there is anything else you can do.

I've noticed the same thing. People who own/regularly use a vape get the hang of it within a few hits.

I go through a lot of screens. My advice is to keep a small jar of ISO around, periodically remove the screen with a pin and soak it a while. Later I pick out screen swish around a bit and it's almost as good as new. I keep a number of small zip top baggies with cleaned screens in 'em strategically located about the house (my vape escape locations)

Eventually your screen will get all misshapen beyond use and you'll have to use a new one. But the wash method stretches their lives out. I probably get 3-4 "cleans" out of each screen.

Stems get cleaned with ISO too, but it isn't nearly as frequent.

Really? I usually vape at night but i do like 4-5 sessions and i have it for almost a month now. Still clean as a whistle.

I just brush it and use my pocket knifes tooth pick to clean the walls. I always blow on the stem after every session. I do that in all my vapes, all of 'em.
They stay clean for longer this way.

The stem has a faint resin smell but it is pleasant so i haven't had the need to clean it yet either.

My screens need changing only every couple of months with at least 8 bowls of use per day. My routine is the following: I finish the load, I tamp it out, I give a good blow from the mouth end to the pipe, then a good blow in the bowl. I brush the inside of the bowl a little with a MFLB brush and blow a couple more times in the bowl and the mouth end and then take a hard draw with my tongue close to the hole so bits and pieces get sucked and stick to the edge of my tongue. I either swallow or clean my tongue with my fingers and that's it. When the walls of the bowl begin to gum up I put a couple of ISO drops on a cotton swab and brush the inside of the bowl and it's like new again. Once or twice a week I will soak the pipe with the screen removed in some ISO and pass a pipe cleaner through it. A hot water rinsing and some soaping if you feel like it and the pipe is like brand new again! Simple and fast. If you take a little care when removing them (I use a dentist's tool or a bent paper clip that I insert from the screw hole and push the screen up), the new screens last quite a while!!
