Just turned an underdog blown glass stem into a 2-3 gram (guess) extraction tube. Ill post pics later. My proof of concept run on a garbage outdoor Hermie of cannatonic (low THC) I still got .18g lol. Gave it like 5 seconds of butane.
Next time I use it I'll take my time and do it right and weigh before as well. I think the yields are better than my 7g tube lol

I've seen 'tane can adapters that are meant to go on downstems to make then tubes for $7 or $8 at my local shop. Maybe worth a look into as well?

Some of the finished ice hash from my AK47/Auroroa Indica:
The lightest colored one at the bottom of the photo is from the 160 micron bag. The biggest one at the top is from the 120 micron bag. The brownish colored one in the middle is from the 73 micron bag. The thin dark one on the left is from the 28 micron bag.

Every time I see some ice hash I immediately say "ugh thats fucking GROSS" while assuming it is BHO lol. Then I realize its ice hash and that it actually looks quite nice for ice hash haha. My gut says "waxy butane soup" then I realize thats just the visual nature of some nice clean bubble hash that I'm jealous of.

I think you guys will appreciate the simplisity of my mini extraction tube I made just for fun. Now I can fine tune my purge process etc without wasting a lot of bud. I only use buds to make BHO. I blast into a dish with ethanol already in it. I then do a hot water bath until 100% of the butane is out (possible due to the everclear) then I heat purge it on a slick mat on a griddle until I end up with shatter. Got .18g of shatter out of a bag of HERMIE cannatonic, and the bud looks untouched. There is definitely a lot more to give.
I need to weigh out the weight in and out next time, but I honestly think yeilds of 30% are possible with micro extractions, and I've heard other people say that. This was literally the worst weed I've ever had which is why I used it as practice. Outdoor, hermie, CBD high and low THC strain. Mexi brick weed tested higher, and I still got .18g of shatter out of that little tube, and I really believe I could double that yield if I just used more butane. I just wanted to do a test run REAL quick.
I'll do better science and better pics of everything next time, but damn I'm happy. Not sure I'd go back to using my big extractor. I can fine tune things more with this. Not to mention I can afford to do a few small runs of any strain this way, and barely use any butane.

18% is nothing to scoff at. I doubt it is too firm of a pack, unless you are getting blow out or the butane doesn't come out at all. Sounds pretty good to me man. I'd be happy with 18%, but at the same time I'm always working to improve.

I should clarify that my low end is usually around 14%, but then again, I guess that's not too far off from the 15-20% range. I've always had it set in my head that I should be getting at least 20%. I'm usually using pretty good buds only.
And that's the thing...I'm always wanting to improve and do it better. It's expensive to have this hobby if you don't have a very inexpensive source!

It can be, but more often than not it'll leave residue on the nail. Its is possible to make full melt bubble hash, but its rare.

what about making ice hash and them winterizing it...? that would clean it up quite a bit right? making it dabbable? turning it into shatter or wax...?
can a small run of ice hash be done efficiently? say a .25 or .5 at a time? or does it have to be large amounts?
i may entertain making my shatter this way instead of using solvents (except for the winterization). this would eliminate using so much solvent which in turn means less fumes!
is this do-able?

why not do a qwet run, no need for winterizing and you get your process in one step

Damn it i Shoulda tried a small bho run. I'm just always scared I'm gonna fuck it up Idk why i never thought of that. Ill give it a shot next time.. I always do hash cuz its just water & ice and it taste bomb af.. All the other shit kinda scares me tbh

QWET runs are all i do. and winterization is still needed if you want to remove most fats and waxes. QWET runs are not impervious to fats and waxes. if you arent winterizing you QWET runs then you are leaving the fats/waxes in your oil. may not be much in there, but its in there still.
just winterized a QWET run yesterday i. fact.
besides im curious about eliminating the original evap of the solvent. basically using ice instead to extract instead of ethanol appeals to me. dissolving, winterizing, and evaping the ice hash return would be easy and not use much ethanol at all and it would remove plantmatter/fats/waxes.

Well I usually get about 1g of shatter out of 7g of buds using QWET. Not the best I know, but I was "Okay" with that. Using the EXACT same tools and process, me and a friend did 21g of his indica strain he grew. We got 0.66g back.....WHAT IN THE FUCK HAPPENED?! He is not happy that he wasted 21g for less than 3/4 of a gram back.
I have literally no explanation. I can try to wash the buds again, but I am scared I'll end up just wasting even more everclear which is semi hard to get.
I'm totally baffled at that return. It made us sick to our stomachs to see that low.

Sheet is full melt using bubblemans method I found on fullmeltbubble.com.. The other 2 are pressed using different methods I found online and some "sand"... Wanted to try different ways to see what I like & to see if there is any difference. I'm curing it all now..
