Not charging it up all the way theoretically stretches battery life with these types of batteries. His formula for extending battery life goes something like using it until it only shows level 1 on battery check and charging up to before the level 7 indicator turns solid.

I let the one I painted sit for 24 hours before use. "TODAY"!nice paint job ataxian. been considering changing the finish on mine as well. although i may wait until ive got a second solo.
My other SOLO I used while the paint was drying.
Make sure you have a 2nd SOLO before you paint!

Dorkus, I got me a nice bit of driftwood to make one of theseGlad yr a fan chucku, I know I sure am.
In fact I spent the day road testing the solo further & still cant fault it.
Due to the wet weather, & couldnt be bothered doing much else.
I had an idea, had a piece timber lying in my backyard and within 10mins of dicking around
( I am no master craftsmen)
There be the SOLO RECHARGE STATION---
EDIT- it just sits in there nicely and charges away. when I want to use it, I just pull it up till the power disconnects. turn it on & let it sit there heating up. it actually rests on the charge pin, as long as I dont press down on it, it wont charge.
heats up, I use it, turn it off when done. Just place it back in the SOLO STATION, a slight wiggle & the pin finds the point on the bottom of the solo, press down gently, beep, charging away.
awesome, very low tech, but works like a charm.
I was looking for ideas on google images and thought this nice wooden one (that looked mighty familiar) was by far the best !!! But I will give mine a tinc bottle hole. Noice.
I'm a newbie at the solo, but found that stuffing a bit off a cotton bud down the stem stops the mouth full of debris.

Have any of you guys here been able to compare the vapor quality of the Arizer Solo and the DaVinci Ascent??
I'm looking at both of these right now and the Solo was appealing to me but I used one of my friends that he'd had for a few months and it tasted slightly metalic, almost like I was vaping weed from a lightly used curling iron or something, it wasn't overpowering but I noticed it and it concerned me for a second, I'm just wondering if that's normal or not?? It is a stainless heater so I thought it could be possible... and this is what lead me to look at the Ascent even though it's more expensive because of how pure the vapor SHOULD be with all glass down to the heater and everything, but then I read about old issues with this rubber/sillicone taste and that conserned me as well as I didn't want to be spending so much money on something and have it have a not turn out to have such a clean taste after all... The INDICA I just got taste so good I had a ALL IN WONDER BOWL and a PHVES during my WAKE and BAKE session. The only thing is I was "COUCHED" for 3 hours!
I have a lot to do today so a HYBRID the rest of the day!
I have SOLO's because their simple easy to use and have glass stems. Plus their cheap like me!

Close, but I recommend a wider range. I check the level on power up. If it shows any LEDs I do the session. If it shows none, I still do the session but plan to charge afterwards. There's still a couple more sessions before you get 'locked out' but it's too easy to lose track IMO. One more time on no lights (for the first time....) is OK.
And I charge until the step 7 LED lights (at about 80%). The charge LED is still flashing (on the way to 100%) so I try to catch it before it stops flashing.
So recharge when you run out of lights (take a last session with no lights at the start but recharge before the next session) and charge to step 7 (and catch it before the charge LED stops flashing if you can.....no sin if you miss a few....). Expect maybe 3 or so times the number of sessions before you need new batteries?
No big deal if you ignore it and just replace sooner of course. It works just fine that way too.

I got this amazing Space Queen earlier, tried a whole nug stem at 5 and ended up toasting the hell out of one side, kinda vaped it though. Crumbled it up and finished it off more comfortably. The taste was pretty nice for a bit. Need to work on my technique with whole nug more and give this bud a few more hours to dry out a little. The second ground-up stem had me spinning for a bit 
edit: @OF thanks for the correction, that seems a bit more sensible than what I thought haha. Guess I've been racking up a few more cycles with my methods? My Solo'll need it, I've been giving it hell these last few days

And good on ya! That's what they're made for you know. A solid tool for good and right.....and kinda cute in it's own right.
Like all tools, made to be used. Stuff to look at and brag about are different.

Sometimes it comes down to personal choice when it comes ti a portable vaporizer. Also you may be extra sensitive to smells.
I have both vapes and enjoy them. The Solo is easier to use. If this is your first vaporizer the Solo may work better for you.
It comes down to preference.

What's your opinion? If you had to rate them on taste which one would you put on top (I know it's probably very slight on improvement but I'm just curious) the Ascent or the Solo?
Both of them heat the load constantly during a session. The Solo cooks the load less than the Ascent. I don't detect any added taste from either of them beyond the slightly cooked flavour. I would base my choice on criteria other than flavour.

Q, your nug may have been a little to big as I normally get as even a burn as you can when I put a nug in. After a full 12 mins I then use the ssv pick to break it up and do another session.
The ascent wins on taste, you can't give me one as I don't like vaping with it. I know the next statement might ruffle some feathers but I put it along side the vb2 on usage. I actually think the vb2 is way more conservative on herb. The reason I don't like them is why some do. The airflow is way to open for me and I hate doing magic tricks to reduce the flow beyond a condom. I don't even like using cotton for airflow reduction. I will use it for wax or such.

So how are the newest models? Are they a go? I think I MIGHT be leaning more towards the Solo for my battle to find the tastiest vape, I seem to get 50/50 results when I ask which is tastier between the Ascent and the Solo, but the Solo is also reliable when it does not entirely seem like the Ascent is so, quite yet.. Perhaps I'll upgrade if it turns out to be worth while in the future

You were right. I kept it for a while, but the problem recurred. I sent it back and Aroma-Tek sent me a new one within a week. Very fast customer service.
That's good news that the turnaround was so quick. Good for Aroma-Tek. Guess the importance of having a back up unit hits home at these times.
Those intermittent failures can be a service nightmare. Always seem to work during inspection on the bench....
Put back together and classify as good.

.570 seems a good number, based on the ones I have handy. It varies a bit, I'd plan on an o-ring or Teflon seal (perhaps just plumber's tape?).
