What do you all think of putting a dab on some cotton in the bowl? Any reason why this might be a bad idea?

I think that it will work just fine.

My lotuses arrived...its trully a really nice vaporizer and for sure in the team of the ones i dont want to get separated...it is what everyone has been describing here...from my point of view its like a torch powered vapor genie with clean airpath that can get the maintanence that it deserves (aluminium vs wood).when i say its like a genie i mean that i use the genie method for inhaling + flame distance and get similar vapor production result...my lotus has something weird...when i preheat i hear a click and i see that the top plate gets a bit pressed and then i know its preheated and start inhaling and i know that after 5 seconds vapor has appeared in my mouth...

awesome vape indeed,not discreet to you out in public imo..but about vapor taste,feel and productions its on the top level in my opinion...the lighter that they sent with the kit is a bit crappy tho but w/e...

Mine also does this. It's apparently normal for the plate to flex a little, especially when using high heat.

postman had the lotus _finally_ for me today in his car. jumped down all the stairs like a young cat - the joy, the sweet joy!!!

i did kinda 1/2 and one 1/3 of the bowl in a quick session. first draws not good, had to learn the technique. combusted it a bit at the second, the 1/3 bowl, but that´s okay, i wanted to check out the limits.

i have to say i feel, my ultra-tolerance for the substance in mind, quite pleasured. it deliveres me a "head/face"-high (think i read about that effect with this device on some pages behind in this thread here...) that i normally only get, when i had a few days/weeks no smoke
- like the tolerance has fallen.
maybe the different profile of impacting active substance(s), but it´s really nice. so, sorry - i´m really baked at the moment, will quit writing soon - have to lay on the carpet like a beetle on his back. <3

the taste was a big surprise - even my "not so really gourmet"-material tasted _really_ nice. enjoyed that very much.
so, next days and weeks i will try to find my perfect drawing-technique. love this kind of research

just have one little issue, but maybe this is just a "first-day-of-use"-problem: even when i lift my chillum (really carefully) (atm i´m using it strictly with my glass) i get some of the fine grinded herb _into_ the lotus. i can really give the best to try not to create some kind of "backpushing" air - some little particles just always move up and land in this hollow "room" where the air-channels are coming in. u don´t really see the particles, but when i move the lotus and may knock gentle on it, they fall out. (if i´m just too stupid to describe the location or my english is just complete crap, please, let me know - i will post a picture or video... X-D)

just a little concern: maybe the particles get burned because they are in closer distance to the heating plate? maybe they can plug some of the airholes by time...? :/ just some worries by myself. may i try something with a screen on top....mhmh...may...

anyways: thanks for your help and nicely pushing me in the right direction. i think the lotus and i will be a quite durable team.

I don't think many particles are blown up and into the air path because the holes are pretty tiny.

To clarify the air path, there is a disc with holes that covers the chamber. Here's a cross section:



I believe the vast majority of the herb is blown into the hollow "groove." Maybe some of the finer material might kick up into the air pathway, but some gentle knocking on a table might dislodge them after a bowl.

That's what I do, I gently knock the side of the Lotus on my table about 5 times on 4 sides. I mean, it's a piece of wood with some metal screwed in, it shouldn't harm the hotplate or cap unless you Hulk-smash.

Well, that happens to me as well. What i do is i put my thumb and index finger under the cap ang gently wiggle with the other hand while pushing up with my thumb and index. If i push it fast, i will get suction and bits will fly off or land inside the cap. If i push it slowly, this doesn't happen.

I'm glad you're enjoying your Lotus. To get familiar with the technique, try it a couple of times with a chronometer and do 10-15 second hits at a confortable steady speed. Start inhaling 2-3 seconds after the flame is on top and place a flame with 1,5cm-2cm. The flame position is where the light blue gets thicker, that is the hottest part of the flame.

If you're using with water, the hits will be longer and you won't feel the heat in your throat to gauge the hit. When the tube starts to milk, slowly raise the lighter and when the vapor is less dense lower it again and go up and down as you please for roughly 30sec.

@naturalfarmer, do you use your Ehle with the Lotus? I find it's a pair made in heaven. I'm considering getting a 100ml bent neck since i need to order another diffuser because mine broke.

A couple of days there was a big storm here and there were hailstones 7cm long so i put some in my Ehle and it was exquisite.

I feel one with Nature, The flavour was great as you all know, and the ice and no water made for a really pleasant smooth hit. Straight from the heavens.

I take my Ehle out now and then to break the routine but the hits through the al pipe are so great for me... With the bong I seem to loose potency due to condensation as well as taste and I usually tend to take bigger hits, exhale more vapour and go through my botanicals in a faster pace. A bent neck one is a much better idea for your health, I agree!

Yeah, i agree on the bigger hits and you do lose potency and flavor but that is why i usually reserve that for the big sessions. Otherwise i couldn't keep my average of 2g/month, year average was 3g/month.

Try it with ice and no water, better taste than with water and much more smooth than dry. I have to start keeping some ice always ready.

Yes, it's easier in the summer and i'm only able to if i only do night vaping/after work.

When i'm on holidays i always indulge some more.

My last 2g lasted only 3 weeks, so 25% less because of Xmas holidays.

So last night my cousin and I sat down with this thing and finally gave it some real trials. He's also becoming more and more hardcore of a vaporizer fan. We ended up vaping maybe 10 bowls in this thing over the night.

It's AMAZING how big this thing hits. Clouds from start to finish.

Some people just have the best tolerance.

My roommate smoked/vaped with me almost every night for 2 years. He takes 1 rip off the Lotus, and he says "no mas!"

I am waiting on MassDrop to do this vaporizer hopefully should be this month. I really like the J hook but is there any nicer dry pipes with a joint that would work well with this vaporizer? I was also wondering if anyone had used this vaporizer with a ELBO DINO? I have been wanting one of those little guys and could justify it if this vape would work well with it. I think with a female to female connector it would work fine with a DINO just wanted to see if anyone had tried it.

Anything that is made of glass with a 14mm female joint will work.

I know they have male joints but that can be fixed with an adapter. I am worried about the distance from the next to the joint and if the louts would be able to fit on there easily.
