Discontinued The Herbalizer

smokum

I am who I am and your approval isn't needed!
I did find a way to use the oil pads without oil,
they can cut the bowl size down a bit as herbie likes to run fully loaded :haw:

I tend to get visually thin vapor with the amount of material I use (very small amount = to a solo PHES shorty stem volume), and great normal vapor amounts at the recommended 1/2 full amount which is a lil too much 'for me' for what level of effect I wish to achieve at certain times...... (using no fan assist thru the whip)
- do you feel adding the pad would somehow increase the visible vapor amount ?
- do you think the mass of the pad might end up giving a potential false temperature compared to the readout due to the added surface area & added conduction ?

* Just some added personal observations:

For some reason I somehow came under the impression (happens A LOT with my brain injury :ugh:), that the fan was speed controllable in vaporizing mode, which for my own usage would have offered the beau-coupe feature for my preferences since full fan is too much, and no fan is feels somewhat lacking (to ME and my own needs/wants/preferred), so far using the whip. Bummer for me about the misconception, and thank jebus the Herbie offers an easy pull to begin with ;) As well, I thought the speed was going to be available to do incremental variable and not just ON-1/2-FULL speed choices. Truly my own fault and I can't even find anywhere where I came to those mindsets :shrug:only that I somehow was looking forward to them. Even without my misconception of incremental fan speeds I am quite happy & satisfied with my purchase.

I would preferred to have had a simple small separate button (or easier way) to switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit as opposed to the two finger press at opposite ends of the temp scale to change. I just find it inconvenient and constantly fail at first attempt that ends up changing my temp in session instead. Minor detail I know... but just sayin.

The future offering of a storage/carrying case would sure be nice for those stow-away or take with times. Something along the lines that accompany the good looks of the Herbie itself.

My main purpose for this purchase was the available exacting temperature control to vaporize with (basically any & all herbs), Halogen technology, whip use, and the fact that the unit itself is not imposing and 'discrete' enough to leave out in plain view. The added feature of being able to utilize aromatherapy was simply a pleasant bonus. My expectations are definitely met and I continue to experiment in use and anticipate learning more about non mj herbal wellness.

I'll be anxious to see what direction the website STORE takes as far as replacement parts (screens, pads, bags, and possible new options), not to mention more device specific GonG adapters that many will want since we are large in numbers us glass nuts, and perhaps offering the ability to purchase natural herbs & oils that could lead into a full scale biz opportunity to provide a one stop be all.

As well, and in hopes, that the overall site itself develops into a more informative one in regards to herbal wellness through inhalation AND aroma therapies learning. Most likely not their area of concentration nor expertise, but it would certainly add to the overall 'experience' of potential clients down the road as they progress into the mainstream for those seeking a more natural 'back to earth' lifestyle and health.

Anyways.... I'll cut my current ramble here for now (lol, I find with the ability of such a fine and precise temp control that I'm experiencing quite the different effect results from my 'partaking' with the Herbalizer), and continue on with my reading instead.

Always in a state of confusion and silliness♀
@smokum, I thought the same thing with load size so I had vito dump it so I can eye how much it was. To my eye it was a double solo stem. I then had him only load half back in and I still got big hits maybe cause it was now really dry  , but it was dry to begin with. I thought the production model was going to have variable speed on the fan assist as well. I think that would be a great addition. I can't use it for the same reason you can't it is just to much. I hope to get back to vito's soon to play a bit more, but am going to wait till all the why can't I and how do you do stuff comes in so I can try to come up with an easy solution. Some on this forum like to do shit the hard way...............pnp bullets and case come to mind. They are using tinfoil on top of an over priced bullet holder IMO instead of the easy solution I put up. You know I hate magic tricks lol.

Hey @smokum !
Good to see you enjoying the Herbie!!!
I am loving mine but also find that i love using it soo much it is becoming a weed hog!
Oh well... what to do!
Back at work so it will only be used at night now so that should save a lot of herb!

I have been thinking about using a spare screen on top if the herb and then the top of the herb chamber. This way the herb will stay at the bottom of the container and not end up stuck to the top screen when the bowl is only slightly full. Will test tonight!

I was reading your post above and you mentioned looking into herbal blends etc...
I also own the Aromed 4.0 and it has an awesome manual with many different herbs and their vaporizing temps!
Found a link to the PDF of the manual and is has all the herbal info!

Take a look starting on page 6:

I have used Herbie flawlessly for days now.
Good Medicine!
I did get around to experimenting with some very gooey bubble hash... the tyoe that is made sticky instead of dry.
I tried it.. and the fan pushed it up against the top screen. The vapor was great, but when OI checked, I saw potential of dirtying my Herbalizer top screen...
so I looked in my "doodads' drawer.
I found an item I bought long ago at everyonedoesit.com It is called conical Gauze
DSC02985.jpg

I decided to try this in the Herbie Bowl.
DSC02987.jpg

It fits right in and stays "afloat"
DSC02989.jpg

An EQ basket fits too, but it's shape does not lend itself to the contents being TOTALLY touched by hot air.. plus it has folds, and the screen is super mesh-like, causing potential restriction.
DSC02993.jpg

So........
I loaded the "Conical Gauze"
DSC02990.jpg

and I covered it with a small second screen.
DSC02994ee.jpg

and I went to town at 400º.... then later at 425º
Results:
The Herbalizer screen stayed untainted.
The load got vaped, and I re-crumbled it and vaped it again.
A good time was had!
DSC02995.jpg

A piece of unvaped sticky bubble hash sits beneath vaped stuff for color comparison.
Have fun guys!

The only issue i have is that i find i am using way more herb than usual!!
To have such an effective, easy to use, extremely rapid heat up time and easy to clean unit is the problem.
So far the Herbie has performed perfectly in every situation i have put it through.
From very cool temps to maxed out the Herbie always delivers.
Going to try some scissor hash and dry screen hash pressed into pucks tonight using Vito's method.

Looking forward to trying out custom herbal blends!!

I missed that part on the instructions, I didn't open them until after I "fired up" my first bowl. And only then because I forgot about the bowl being magnetic lol. But I tried a 1/2 full bowl anyways, and the herb seemed to vape okay but maybe less efficiently as it had separated and mostly stuck to the top lid/screen.

I only tried adding the pads once so far, and it seemed to just make the bowl smaller by maybe 30-40%. The vapor seemed pretty much the same, and the avb was perhaps a bit more even than it is with a regular (full) bowl when finishing at 445°f.

I decided to try this in the Herbie Bowl.

Nice, I think I have some of those screens. Are they from a vapocane b?

I think your hash method may also be applicable for herbal one-hitters,
I've got some wand hash so gonna have to try it both ways:science:

Well after about a week of use, I am seriously loving this vape overall…BUT…I have run into a kind of serious problem with the whip I'd like to share. It would seem that the whip isn't strong enough to support its own weight at the bowl-end, and after only a week of use it is collapsing on itself and crimping, completely blocking off the airflow. I can of course manually hold the whip upright so that it doesn't crimp, but it's a serious PITA to do, especially when using a water pipe and/or the fan! Vaping with the whip is now a two-handed job :\

Looking at the angle where it crimps, I feel like this could be solved by manufacturing a slightly longer bowl-attachment piece, but in the meantime I can't figure out how I'm going to get around this issue other than using two hands or using the bags exclusively, which I don't want to do. I have tried adjusting the silicone height where it meets the plastic bowl-attachment piece, but the whip still crimps itself no matter the placement and you can't really move the silicone much anyway without losing a seal with the bowl.

I also suppose this could be solved by keeping the Herbie on a low enough surface so that the whip is just a straight vertical line from the bowl to your face, but I don't have any place in my room where this setup would be convenient. Or just a shorter whip maybe. But really, I kind of feel like the whip should just function properly, like any other whip-style vape, especially at this price. My much cheaper EQ never had this problem due to its angled whip design. And come to think of it, this might be the only vape I've personally ever seen where the whip is attached vertically...I would think the only way to avoid crimping in this scenario would be to use a strong whip.

Curious to see if and when any of you guys run into this problem as well…only had this vape for a week and I have been very careful with it, and have been using bags just as often, so this whip has only even seen about 50% of my use over the week.

Other than this and a few other minor issues, this is by far the best vaporizer I've ever owned!!! And even this particular problem doesn't have much to do with the actual vape itself, just the whip really, so it shouldn't be too hard to solve one way or another.

Also Amazingkaddycap: the tubing size appears to be 11/32" OD, 1/4" ID

At the connection right at the bowl to the whip, how is the temp to the touch? Hot, very hot, neutral...? If hot/very hot, might the whip be losing material integrity over time with use? Would a higher temp grade whip solve the problem?

My whip crimped also, fortunately I have a spot lower that I can place it on. Bags take too long at times, but worth it overall. The nozzle of the bag doesn't secure enough that I have to hold it to avoid vapor leak as it fills. Minor things

There are two quick fixes for this.
Reinforce the hose with a two inch piece of SSV tubing, as one fits inside the other.
What I did was remove the plastic end piece, and reinserted it, carefully "bunching" the material more snugly onto the plastic. This seemed to work for me.

It's decently hot for the first 2 inches or so, even more so with the fan on, but I feel like the crimping is due to insufficient material strength at a vertical angle rather than degradation, especially after such a short period of time. Still, in terms of quality though, this is easily the best whip I have used, it feels very safe and well-suited for a medical device. The direct draw with this unit is the smoothest I've ever experienced and has been a pleasant surprise :) Now I just wish it didn't crimp! :p

Thanks for the suggestions Vitolo! I will give those a try :)

I picked my unit up at the Herbalizer office this afternoon and was greeted by Josh, Bob & Sheila. Flash forward past a few unproductive hours at work, and I'm home, ready to fire Herbie up for the first time.

I grinded up .2g of some Maui Wowie, threw roughly half of it in the bowl, dialed the unit to 350F, and blew up a bag. The vapor was pretty thin and the flavor, while pleasant, was a bit light. I got four solid hits off it and proceeded to inflate another bag at 380F, followed by a few whip hits at 420F, both fan assisted and unassisted. At this point, the herb was mostly light to medium brown with a little faint green thrown in. During the bowl, I was amazed at how green the herb stayed even after a couple bags. Also, the hits were so smooth, it felt like I was simply breathing air.

I loaded the rest of what I had ground up (slightly bigger pack this time) and vaped four bags. The first was at 365F, which appears to be somewhat of sweet spot, at least initially. The vapor was fairly dense and the flavor was amazing, very distinct, bold and flavorful. The next three bags were at 365F for a second time, 385F, and finally, full blast (445F) just for kicks. This time, my flowers were mostly medium to dark brown, but still some lighter brown and faint green remained. The 445F bag did not taste good at all, but that was to be expected.

I'm not sure if I have the bowl packing down yet. I had a fluffy medium grind and just kinda threw the bud in without packing it down. I noticed the bags tended to take around a minute or so to fill. Am I doing it right? I'm going to try a slightly finer grind of some Crystal Ship (Indica-dom hybrid) next and use the whip primarily. I tried the aromatherapy for a while, but it didn't smell like much. I may not have put enough essential oil on the pad. One last thing to mention, the first start up message I got was "time to blow off some steam." As I had just returned home from work, I really got a kick out of that. Can't wait to experiment more!

Edit: More thoughts... I vaped another .1g bowl with the whip, gradually increasing the temperature from 365F to 385F to 390F to 410F to 425F, finishing off with a bag. Vapor production seemed to be less dense than with the bag, but I managed to get a few decent sized clouds by pulling moderately hard while using the fan assist. Again, the hits were extremely smooth and cool with good flavor. After this bowl, the herb was mostly coffee brown. Best part, I was extremely medicated once I was done. This appears to be a pretty efficient vaporizer, but I'd be curious to hear tips about how to decrease the extraction time (stronger lungs?) and increase cloud production (higher temps)? Also, just a side note, is anyone experiencing a rubbery-typical-electronics-like smell near the electrical cord? I'm guessing (hoping?) it's normal, but I figured I'd mention it. Only noticeable when you hold the unit close to your face.

I ordered two different gong adapters from Aqualab, I'll report back on how well they work. Got to spend more time messing with temp settings - really nice vape
both work well, I like the 'Vapor Brothers' angled adapter more than the straight Aqualab one, but both work well with the Herbie whip

Friendly heads up that I moved a handful of general tubing related posts to our Whip/Tubing Megathread. For the record the stock Herbalizer tubing dimensions are 3 feet length, 0.25" ID, 0.35" OD. For the civilized folks out there, that's 91.44cm, 6.35mm, 8.89mm.

I'm glad that people are enjoying the start-up messages. We did come up with most of them, afterall. ;)

Try a different strain? Some don't produce as much vapor for me compared to others.

So i have been e mialing Sheila @Herbalizer to sort out a brush for my unit.
I wanted to buy my own one locally but was told only a certain brush size fits and is retained by the clips.
Sheila was kind enough to send me one PLUS a Vape Like A Boss T-Shirt!!!:tup:

I also asked what was special about the Limited Edition Herbie and this is the list:
1-Special color
2-Special packaging
3- The welcome screen and messages are also unique to the Limited Edition

And then Sheila cryptically mentioned this:
"There is also an Easter egg that has not yet been discovered:-)"

I wonder who will discover the secret first??

All service and communication with Herbalizer has been first rate!!
Just like the device they sell!!!:D
