Hey DDave, thanks for your reply! I'm looking forward to trying your mod, in a slightly different way though. 18F/18F -> 18M/18F -> Straight upward elbow custom made.

Im waiting for Arizer to reply, but minwhile maybe somebody over hear knows specs of the elbow piece?
I know it's 18.8mm, but what about the whip part of it? It's very hard to measure it precisly at home and I need detailes to have my local glass blowing company make a straight one :D.

Volcano style baloons, I'm coming!

Ooo let us know how that goes!

Question for all: Does anyone happen to have a template for the Q? I was thinking of vinyl wrapping it for a cool custom look. If not I'll have to knock one up I suppose, got a friend who vinyl prints all sorts so should be able to get it done.

It is a bit thicker but much more elastic than stock. Slips on stock EXQ glass with no problems. Bought it Saturday, came this afternoon.

Here's another listing for the 7/16 od in case anyone is looking. 5/16" I.D. x 7/16" O.D. Silicone Tubing - High Temperature Hose (500F)

For sure more flexible than that awful stock PVC. :D

The link you posted looks like a great find, too: Food/medical grade, and good elasticity (the hardness aka durometer rating of 50). Although it is more expensive per foot with shipping factored in, especially a short length. But still less than buying direct from a major manufacturer, e.g., Tygon.

@YetAnotherUsername, in your setup above, 18F/18F -> 18M/18F -> Straight upward elbow custom made, where will the herb sit? Assume like this = 18F/18F -> 18M/18F -> (Herb) -> Straight upward elbow custom made. Or is it between the two adapters? (May perform better as product sits closer to the heater).

Regarding the custom elbows, another forum member had posted these a while back.

Can't wait to hear how your setup performs! Any chance of posting pics?

Thanks,

The herb would be in the 18M/18F adapter. I will post pics, however this will happen when I recieve my glass sometime probably this month. I'll post an update then. Thanks DDave for steping out when I asked you out of the blue. Such a good vibe on this forum.

Happy New Year folks!

Hey all! I have owned the EQ for a year and a half and have just stumbled into this thread while looking for some mods I can do to improve my experience.

I have used it as is out of the box (including the original hosing) and have had an absolute blast with it. However now I want to take it to the next level and start tinkering with it. I ordered some silicon tubing straightaway since everyone here seems to recommend it so much over the stock tubing (plus would be nice to get some clean tubes).

Edit: Also a happy new years to everyone!

After all the modding I've done I can say the most improving mod is just using vapexhale ELB as a bowl.
You can playce it anywhere in the air path where it can fit (usually the elbow) and it will make a HUGE improvement in ease of use and performance (huge hits, no combustion, much better browning).
Also no mess or cornered particles anymore.
All the other mods I've done before (bowl mod, inverse hitting, screen mod...) are nothing compared to just switching to the vapexhale ELB loading system.

Can we have a pic? :)

Now that is interesting. Should I hassle with ordering three different glass parts or should I just buy the ELB... Huh..

On the other hand - both at the same time :leaf: The ELB in my straight elbow piece

Seek, what temp(s) are you using with the ELB? And do you think that additionally using a f/f adapter (rather than the cyclone) into which the ELB loaded glass elbow is inserted, would bring the ELB closer to the heat, and therefore improve the method? Finally, does using the ELB with the Q result in the same turbulence in the ELB that we get with the Cloud?

A bit higher than normally, because i think the ELB collects the hot spot and redistributes it through the mesh. So overall you get lighter more unfirm browning. So if you want to cook it more, you set the temp higher than usual. Then you get the same browning, but faster and with less/no stirring.

Otherwise, the temp needed is dependent on distance from heater as always.

When the ELB is furthest (in the elbow, the empty cyclone bolw being inbetween) the good temp range for me is 230-250 °C
When the ELB is nearest (sitting directly on the heater) the good temp range for me is 200-220 °C
...If this was a classic direct load, no ELB, both temps above would combust for me at these distances.

And do you think that additionally using a f/f adapter (rather than the cyclone) into which the ELB loaded glass elbow is inserted, would bring the ELB closer to the heat, and therefore improve the method?
Maybe, I get fantastic results with the ELB placed at any distance from the heater, given that the glass is preheated nicely.
Maybe I have to set higher temps for greater distances, so the readout precision is worse, but I think the preheated cyclone bowl helps to stabilize and further mix the hot air, so if you don't care about the numbers, you probably could get better performance.
It's just my theory, as I've said, I can't reaally find much difference, every distance just works good for me.

Finally, does using the ELB with the Q result in the same turbulence in the ELB that we get with the Cloud?
I think just using the ELB can't induce the turbulence in any vape. It's the shape of the glass what makes the turbulence. The hole in the cyclone bowl is mixing up the air similarly to the Cloud restriction, but to a much lesses degreee, because it's much wider.

When the ELB is sitting directly on top of the heater I doubt there is any added turbulence - but still works great and I get uniformly browned loads in 2 hits no stirring...

Do you know what the ELB is? It's 2 domed screen (like the one in the EQ elbow) that make closeable capsule. It's the bowl for vapexhale vapes. A pack of 4 ELBs cost like 20$.
When you put herbs in and cap it, there's no way they can get out until you open it.
The ELB fits into the elbow just like the generic screen.

So that's what the caps are for! I see. Would work wonders with this "elbow" I think!

Also, with the ELB i now need one glass piece less. Great!

Wow this looks really good! It looks like combustion, can the performance get any better than this :D?

You mentioned that ELB fits into the elbow perfectly, but on the video it goes into a female end. Does it fit in both as long as it's 18.8 mm?

Does the ELB ever get stuck when using directly on the heater or is it a glass only problem?

Have you tried it with the SSV Wand? Straight air path is supposed to make the hit tastier and reduce drag. Would you say there is any difference at all?

It should fit into a male 18mm. In some male joints the ELB can fit too loose or tight.
The female joint is bigger, so it can go inside as well. In the video, the ELB is actually inside the mouthpiece - beyond the female joint.
There're just enough space for it there. The ELB falls out from the mouthpiece as soon as I stop or slow down pulling on it (when its not sitting on the heater).

Does the ELB ever get stuck when using directly on the heater or is it a glass only problem?
There's no problem with ELB being stuck. It's only sitting on the heater. And its so loose it stays in the mouthpiece only when pulling through it.

I don't have a SSV. However, this mouthpiece is a very straight glass airpath too. I think there's no real difference to the taste. Straight airpath is bad at filtering particles. Having a 90 degree elbow in the airpath actually smooths out the hit by catching the particles.
If you want good taste, stay on low temp and vape through crystal-clean airpath.

The angle also doesn't have any significant influence on the drag. For example I have two elbows, one has strong drag and the other one is almost drag-free. Its because the other one has poor connection in the glass - there is smaller hole and there's the drag. The first one is joined perfectly and widely so it's drag-free. The same would apply for the straight version.
Just look at all the crazy glassware out there. There are so much acute angles the airpath in there yet they can be drag-free. If there'S drag, it's usually single small hole somewhere that's ruining it all.

Got a vid of this...
Heater: Arizer Extreme Q (210°C)
Bowl: VapeXhale ELB (~2/5 full)
Delivery: VapeXhale standard glass mouthpiece
Seek,

Hey! Nice clouds!

What's the top screen that covers the heater look like? Whenever I used the DDave F/F with elbow pack, I ended up having fallout on the screen I left inside the F/F as the herbs readjusted themselves or shrunk due to heat/extraction. So, had I removed the screen from the F/F, the fallout would have been directly to the screen on the heater.

Am going to try to get a vid or two done this evening showing the results from my setup. So I can get a good comparison of our mods, what grade product did you use in the video?

Believe it's time for a bit of Modded EQ Cloud Competition!!!!

the best vaporizer available for the money. the arizer extreme q allows you to choose between a bag and a whip which is awesome. For the days when I want to sleep well or have friends over I can use the bag. For those other days I use the whip which is amazing because the vaporizer has a fan control on it that allows you to create a wind so you do not have to do any work but inhale the vapors. I hate having to strongly inhale and use all my energy. The extreme q allows me to just sit their and wait for the vapes to come through the hose. Only advice is be careful where you buy it from because their are a lot of fakes on ebay and whatnot. trying a legitimate retailer such as vapornation or dtxvapes. They are authorized retailers and guarantee their vapes.

So my friends and me are nerds and I got us all Extreme Q's for Xmas and we have discovered that you can pour grinder contents into the lower portion full and then load the elbow too (preferably after adding kief or hash toppings) then add multiple extensions to the whip and race to the popcorn taste, usually everyone is coughing at the same time and every time someone pulls off it acts as a carb and hits you after struggling against your friend's suction. This is so much better than passing it around, and more fun.....

Please try it out and tell me what you think....

p.s. If you have any ideas about how to modify Arizer Solo or Extreme Qs, please share...

@Seek,
Thanks for the new mod. It's good to know I can hit my EQ like a cloud if my cloud dies.

@DDave
The ELBs enclose the herb quite well on all sides when fastened together. I don't think there would be any blowback.

bahhhh, cloud+ is dead im back on the eq wagon till the evo lands. :chill:
At first I was devastated but then I had all these new adapters and hydro tubes to play with and I remembered how fun this thing is! With all the endless mod potential and different glass setups the cloud (sitting in pieces, yeah i tried too! So close yet so far!) is a different memory. (sort of, when i think about it it still really hurts)

If you find a setup that works this thing can get pretty damn close to cloudage material in some ways better in some ways worse. Ive got a few new fave setups that are producing very nice clouds and the abv is so evenly cooked even more so than my cloud. As always im waiting on new parts to refine it, for this setup getting closer to the heater which i am hoping will speed up time before full milk, and allow me to reduce temp. Temp is currently maxed 260c with the load a tad too far away. (Using a female to male adapter / elb in male/ hydrotube)

Im waiting on a new glass rig and I got thinking,
elb straight in the glass (male joint) / shortest Female to female adapter on top / EQloud inverted directly Sorry i mean the EQ! heh heh

That seemes to me like a really good setup you've got there. What kind of adapter is it? Is it possible to pout the elb in the other end upside down? This would make less mess at the cap side of the ELB. Also it would be nearer the heater. Is there any glass head on the adapter so you can lift it easily and cool down the ELB between hits?

So to make this work I had to make a miniELB.
I used 2 EQ caps for that, no ELB stuff. Tried to cam one instahit.
I've overestimated the miniELB capacity...
...and packed too much (yet so little for the vapor cloud extracted!).
I couldn't take it all in one hit, however slightly smaller loads are easy.
I think it got about 96% finsihed in that hit.
The topmost herbs in the center were slightly lighter in the end.

Heater: Arizer Extreme Q (205°C)
Bowl: MiniELB from 2 Arizer caps (full)
Delivery: Vertigo HydraTree
