Help a New Vaporist Decide Between an Ascent and a MFLB

hi there! and watch out!

maximum (old) newbie in almost everything about vaping incoming:

stuck between the decision to buy an ascent or the mflb.

i am searching for a device, that will work at home on daily base and daily routine, fine like a chime, and is, on the other hand, able to be taken with outside - a short trip or something like that....a few sessions without completely drained batteries would be nice.

i am a heavy-bong smoker for many years now. so i´m searching for a devide, that squeezes out the tiniest bit of "action" out of the herb, and deliveres it with a good strong experience. i heard, the ascent will work better with full chamber and thought already about making some kind of "puffer" with that steel-pad from the volcano. (saw it somewhere, maybe even in this thread? i´m after a few days of perma-searching a bit...nuts....) 2-3 of them should be enough to make the bowl 1/2 as big. and they would make absolutely no change to the material (as they are made for vaping concentrates and oils with it)

so far, the plan with the ascent.
but i am still not sure how he handles smaller amounts of herb - no money and no possibility of wasting some of the good herb here - and i heard he need quite more material to perform good, with dense vape, then, for example the mflb(?)

i heard the mflb is pretty good in squeezing the most out of small amounts of herb - but i am not sure if this little thingie can please my allday-and-almost-anytime-daily needs :/

so i am totaly confused right now - the mysterious rumours about this gassing-stuff and all the crap not even mentioned......

i just want a quality-build vape, for allday use, exzessiv use, able to bring the full load from the herb to the vaper, withouth waste of herb. a device, i can take with me without problems (the solo and his glas-stem....*gnhhhh!!!*) and may even with the possibility of hook up to my waterpipe or stuff like that.
that would be great.
indeed.
thank you very much for your appreciation

edit: aaaaaand of course it would be nice if the herb doesen't taste like poo-poo through the new vape.

:D !

welcome to fuckcombustion einsiedler :)

congratulations on the decision to fuck combustion! definitely a step in the right direction!

i would advice you to maybe start a thread in the "askFC" section, there we can give better advice as in a manufacturer's thread ;) the two vapes you have been looking at, are not ideal for your situation imo.

both the ascent and the mflb are conduction based and therefor work best with short and slow hits (especially the ascent) they can't really keep up with the type of draw you're looking for when you want to milk your bong with thick vapor ;)

another thing to consider for a smooth transition from smoking to vaping is the tobacco/nicotine! are you mixing cannabis and tobacco in your bong rigth now (i asume yes as everybody here in germany does ;) )?

vaping will not feel satisfying for you in the first week or two when you come from combusting a mixture of cannabis and tobacco, after your body has adjusted tough, vaping will get you higher than ever before :)

I'm not sure you'd be satisfied with the Ascent (not sure any pocket portable will meet your requirements/desires), but if you've been a "heavy-bong smoker for many years" you probably won't take to the MF.

exactly!

"heavy-bong smoker for many years" = this screams vapexhale to me! the cloud is build for this purpose :)

of course i have to mention the lotus too! very good option for somebody used to bongs, and it is way more affordable than a cloud.

hi there again and thanks for the kindly words and answers :)

hmhmhmhmh :/

the lotus looks a bit...."cheap" to me. i´m searching for a device, with digital heating/temperature control/scale to check out whats going on when and vape it to its sweetspot. the mflb has, at least, this poweradapter which is, i think, a nice option for home use.

i know a vape will never give a punch like a heavy glass, so i am looking for a device which i can hook up to my collection. i´ve saw some nice review videos from the ascent in which someone just puts 2 o-rings on a glashead and puts the glasstraw from the ascent against it = worked like a charm and he got very milky shots with it.

i also heard this thing, that tobacco/weed-smokers (guilty as i am with my heritage... haha ^^) will have this lowered phase at the beginning. but to hear, that it will be better at some time, is a good motivation to keep that up :)

i will later check out if the vapeexhale is available here and some yt-reviews and stuff. thx for the hint!

and it would be okay if the "hit" from the new vape is not like a thick glass. i know, its a different league - but i want that good usage in terms of not wasting much material and vape very efficiently the herb. that is a big wish i have for my new vape :/

again, thanks for the kind words - i´ll rip a nice head on ya X-D

If this is the case, then the MFLB is not the droid you're looking for.

You have to pay big boy money for features like that.

i'll throw in the e-nano too: http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/e-nano-from-epicvape.7844/page-101#post-511087

for effiency a log vape always is a good choice :)

edit: and the lotus may be cheap (build quality is really good though), but i for one haven't used my cloud once since getting the lotus (and my poor solo hasn't seen any use in weeks too)

also for clouds in europe, check vapefiend.co.uk , i read somewhere that they will get some intl. evos soon ;)

I agree with max , you might need a desk top .
Check out the Sublimator thread , they ship Int'l .
VXH , you already know about .

Herbalizer looks like the New King , they don't ship int'l ...yet

The Solo on level 7 thru Water gear , def. gets me where
I want to be .

Check them out , it's fun research .

I have to reinforce the Lotus as a viable option.

You mentioned the digital control and heating for ease of use purposes. If this is the case, fear not!, the Lotus is very easy to use and very quick to learn how to use.

And with the water piece adapter you can use it with your bong easily.

You won't find such a treat at such low price anywhere else, believe me.

Portables that work well with water pieces are very few... i would recomend you the Arizer Solo but you have to buy a PlanetVape gong stem to use with your bong.

Another one you could consider is the Pinnacle Pro with the Water Tool.

If none of these three feel good to you, i suggest going for a combo desktop+portable.

The type of combo is up to you, it depends on how you rate taste, efficiency, autonomy and size. And overall cost of course. ;)

wah, so many new devices i never heard from, so many stuff to research - thx! ^^ and will definitly check out the lotus anyway - i´ll give every device a chance.

bit offtopic but for research-value reasons: did someone know the vapecritic? think his stuff and reviews are very well made, and he has so many devices, he can really take a judge.

for effiency a log vape always is a good choice

....a log vape = ...?

again, thanks, thanks, thanks :D

....a log vape = ...?

log vapes are basically a piece of wood with an heating element in it, most of them can vape small amounts (0,025-0,05g) very efficiently, they work very well with waterpipes (also dry), you can let them on 24/7, they are durable and can deliver very high vapor quality if used right, and not to forget: they are beautiful :)

the enano is the only one that i know of with a built in temp control, also it's readily available and they ship to europe... nearly bought one myself during the christmas sale - but the lotus reminded me not to lol

A log vape is a vaporizer made with an external cilinder wooden body and a fixed temp, running at 12VDC.
Examples: Underdog, Heat Island

There is also a new log vape called enano which runs at 110V and has a different heating element, the same you find in 7th floor vaporizers like the DaBuddha or the Silver Surfer.

I think vapecritic has good reviews but mainly for portables. His desktop reviews are a little biased towards Storz&Bickel products aka Volcano and Plenty.
And about he being a very good judge because he has many devices... well, many users here have used as many devices so i don't think that is as important as being unbiased which i think he isn't.
I like to hear his reviews but i don't base my decisions on it.

Check Vapefiend, to me he is a bit more unbiased.

sounds pretty neat @ log vapes. something more for the research-list. damn.... and i´ve thought i have already explored all the products that are a look worth. :)

well, i totally agree with you, vorrange: i guess a lot of members here have much experience with trying many different devices - BUT, and here is the clou: he OWNS all the devices. and i think, you just can review a device totally, if you not just try it for a few sipps or a few minutes, but over days, weeks, months..... if you know what i mean.

so there are surely a bunch of good devices, but will they really operate steady and fine after some heavy use? and how is the cleaning? etc, etc.... that´s are things on my mind.

That is what i am saying. Many users here OWN as many devices as he does and probably have used it extensively too. I trust FC users much more than i trust him. It's that simple.
And keep in mind that, in the end, his review is just his opinion. As is mine, and as is everyones. You have to judge from all the reports people make, and keep in mind their own personality. Some people are enthusiasts when they review a unit, others are pessimists, others are more into its features. You need to bypass all those filters to really assess how a unit is and how it will serve your needs.

All vapes i mentioned are very easy to clean. And behave perfectly over heavy use.

The only one i'm not so sure is the Pinnacle because it's relatively new.

Oh right... the e nano runs at 110v so if you are in the EU you will need a step down converter. The LSV comes in 220 and 110 flavors

Just FYI.

Exactly. Opinions are like belly buttons. Everybody has one. You just have sift through the lint to find the best advice for you. ;)

Personally, I am fond of the MFLB's. :)

It sounds like you want a portable that performs like a desktop, which might be unrealistic. Portables involve compromises. Your first decision, it seems to me, will be whether you value performance over portability or vice versa.

Many users here OWN has many devices
oh, then i missunderstood this. wow - so many collectors? that´s cool, but pricey :D

i totally agree - every opinion is individual, but i prefeer the opinion from people, who can give first-handed reviews - with the (long timed) experience from other devices in mind too. simple spoken: experienced vapers. kinda. i hope you get what i mean.... :)

It sounds like you want a portable that performs like a desktop, which might be unrealistic.

i guess that´s the problem :/ ....i thought there are in 2013 or almost 2014 some pretty good portables outta there, for daily and good use of small amounts with decent performance. guess there have to be some compromises to deal with :/

kk, time 4 bed now - thank again for the hints, i will give a report after i checked all those "new" (to me) devices, you told me :)

I get what you mean... that is exactly what you can find at FC from users. There are users here far more experienced than VapeCritic... he just arrived on the scene last year.

And about the vaporizers, there are always compromises. Even with desktops. If you want a vaporizer that performs like a desktop, the Lotus is one of them. The Solo is a level below IMO, but still very good.
I use my Vaponic for a weekend and i don't miss my desktops anymore.

Of course there are desktops that are very good and cost about 250USD and then there are the ones that cost around 500USD and more.

Some portables are as good as a 250USD desktop, but no portable is as good as a 500USD desktop.

cawshook

Solod out.
Imo dont get the magic flight if you have a high tolerance. Ot will take you like 45 minites to get high and conduction vaping doesnt suit everyone.
Get the ascent, or better yet get the lotus/solo and e-nano/lsv.

vorrange

Vapor.wise
Yeah, get the Lotus and the Enano. That looks like a nice combo. :) It will set you back roughly 350€ but i believe you'll be set for a while.
If you're not, then aim for the big guns and go for a Sublimator if you don't want to wait, or the EVO when the 220V version comes out. They both cost about 650USD if i'm not mistaken.

And you won't have a problem selling the Lotus or the Enano, they are both quite popular at FC as of late. Things can always change though, i don't see the vaporizer market slowing down, i see it gaining speed.

Another thing to bear in mind is that the Enano is 110V so you'll need a step down converter, you can find one for 10€ or less and there is at least 5 users from Europe according to the maker that use the Enano without problems. ;)

Have you looked at the arizer solo?

jepp. seems pretty nice, but i´ve heard about a hard drawing resistance + i don´t see it as a portable device, because of its fragile glas-stem. but heard just good things about taste, dense vape, etc.

checked out the _very_ few reviews on yt about this e-nano. seems like a solo (?) but works better?. need to check out where i can buy it and how much it costs. could be a opinion, if i go with the 2-device-method and buy one for home and one little for the go. mhmhm...

i also checked out the lotus - i´m really a bit impressed.
my past "vapes" are the "vapo bowl" and the "smoke (ti-hi-hi...)bubble": both need to be heated a decent time with a good lighter and are a bit uneven in their performances. so i´m really looking for something precise, for optimal results. so i think the lotus will maybe perform in a similar way(?) but it´s seem to be a upgrade from my clumsy "vapes", because the lotus is "passive" heatened (you heaten up the plate, _then_ draw on it, no breathing in of gasses from the lighter)

again: so much to research, thank you all :D
