You can get glass straws all over the net. I actually like them for drinking when some didn't fit to do what was in my mind to mod my vapes. http://www.strawesome.com/classics-glass-straws/ This is the place I got mine from.

@toros23 is the tubing in the path on the bottom cause I can't tell. I want it all glass and it can be fixed if it isn't. Just so everyone knows, allllllllll tubing goes on the outside of the glass with no gaps. It is just to hold the glass together. I am fairly sure if you end up liking the glass you can commission a glass blower to make what you want. I know PV does custom pieces all the time but they will need a herbie to do it.

I hope you all just give glass a try including the herbie people.

The tubing does not bother me personally and it is high-temp silicone - but I do understand what you are saying. When I am able to order more bowls I will make some adapters that are more permanent. For now, it is easier to *not* push it all the way on because I like to swap out to use bags, HT, glass tube and sometimes even the whip.

Earlier this afternoon I found myself in a position where I needed to medicate, but couldn't be high. So what did I do? I loaded the Herbalizer and turned the fan on at 415F until I didn't see any vapor blowing out. Then I upped the temp to 445F and filled a bag. It effectively medicated my body with minimal cerebral effect. Thank you, Herbie.

I just got mine today as well. Great packaging. Gave it a whirl with the whip and the bag and all I can say is this thing is awesome!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe how fast this thing heats up. It is truly idiot proof!!!!!! My cloud is now going in the closet with the solo and the Volcano. This thing is light years ahead of anything I have ever used and very efficient!!!!! I'm in Love!!!!!

Received the herbie today & so far, so amazing. Size is perfect & performance so far has been outstanding. After running it through a few cycles at 445F as a burn-off, I waited for the bowl to cool down then loaded it up about half-way (neglected to weigh, sorry). Started out at 350F. First tried the whip, nice vapor & clean taste. The busted out a bag & was delighted to see the density of the vapor. Milky & fairly dense, more so than I expected. The vapor didn't start thinning out until the fourth bag. Quite impressive. Rather medicated now but more research MUST be done! ;)

Peace,
den

EDIT: Initial bowl (half-full) was ~.1g. Full bowl is ~.2g (medium grind).

all good in the hood.
the love bug just showed up.

packaging is even better than I expected. I might do a small review tonight, but am guessing it just might have to wait until tomorrow.

if you know what I mean. :)

I also think it is amazing how many of the first 9 landed in Oregon.

Actually knowing what I know about Oregon, not that surprised :)

I got mine today as well and like those before me I am also very impressed. I am taking my time to get to know him but here are a few first impressions...

The packaging was nice and very professional feeling. It felt like a very high end piece of electronics. And indeed it is worthy of such packaging! I will definitely be saving this box. The unit itself is a thing of beauty to hold in your hands. The finish is similar to a car in its matallic glossy ness and shine. It made me want to break out the turtle wax to shine him up!

Fast fast FAST! Heat up time is less then 10 seconds from a cold start in my very cold east coast Garage! I cranked it straight to 445 and proceeded to get super milky vapor instantly! Did I mention instantly! And I really like the fan assist. You can literally let it fill your lungs like a bag...just stick the whip in your mouth and press go. There is nothing this fast that I can think of.

The magnetic bowl is genius. So easy to use...pop it in...pop it out. I have already made a HT mod using a 18/18 male male adapter and a piece of silicone to the bowl....perfect fit! Haven't tried the bags yet.... But more testing to come.

Oh and the jury xxxxxxx is still out on the aromatherapy part. I find that diffusing oils using my logs are much more potent than Herbie. Also oils don't hold well on the included pad...I added a tiny piece of cotton because oil was leaking down onto the unit.

Edit: Thanks to @toros23 for the HT mod idea! Works great!

Happy Herbalizer day FC!!! First-time poster here, been lurking for a few years - actually the development of this particular vaporizer is what prompted me to finally join this outstanding community  I have learned a lot from all of you over the years and would like to give a big and sincere Thank You!!! To all of you guys and gals  So without further ado…

THE HERBALIZER…WOW  Just…wow  As it has been said, to use this vaporizer is to know the pleasure of using a fine piece of craftsmanship, like a brand new Apple computer or a violin hand-made by a master luthier. This thing is just classy through and through! And obviously very well-thought out and carefully planned for optimal ergonomics. There *finally* seems to actually be everything I could ask for in a vaporizer here. All contained in a super slick, classy and futuristic-looking unit! Most definitely a game-changer for me, both in terms of offering features not available in other vapes I've tried, and in terms of making my daily vapor sessions much more enjoyable and efficient!

The only desktop vape I have ever owned prior to this is the Extreme Q, and I have never tried any other high-end units like the Volcano or Cloud before, just the other portable vapes I own & friends' various log vapes. I had been getting frustrated with various aspects of my EQ for the last year or so, and jumped on the pre-order in July as soon as I saw it pop up! Sooooo glad I did!! It probably goes without saying, but this thing UTTERLY destroys the EQ. Times infinity, fractally :whoa:. After what just happened to my face-brain, I will no longer have want or need for the EQ - consider it retired!!!:myday: I feel like the price difference is definitely worth it if you're using a vaporizer long term or are health-conscious; given the choice I would save up & buy one of these bad boys for sure! The experience is on a whole 'nother level. :science:

Also I have to give MAD props to the Herbalizer team for the Limited Edition features :clap::clap: So far I've had different messages pop up on the screen every time I go to have a session, phrases like "Close Your Eyes And See Your Heart", and "Don't Believe Everything You Think", and "Got Time For A Quickie?", which is just SO FUCKING AWESOME and makes me ridiculously happy every time I see them :D Finally, a product made for adults! Real adult humans with personalities and senses of humor! The phrases are perfect, it's like the Herbalizer team knows me personally or something  The unit is super classy anyway, but with all of the limited edition details and finishing touches and the whole cohesiveness of everything, it sounds cheesy but it really does feel like this unit was made just for me  And it's even got a personality of its own! Me & Herbie are becoming fast friends

The aromatherapy feature is awesome as well, haven't used it much yet other than their "de-funk" essential oil, but it works really well & was one of the things I've been looking forward to trying! So far so good, my vape room smells amazing :ninja:

For all your countless hours of hard work designing and building these things, I would like to give a huge huge THANK YOU to the Herbalizer team!!!:tup: Before this unit came along I really felt like something was missing. Mostly I had vapes that performed well in one aspect, but at the detriment of another. Now I have a vaporizer that utterly destroys all their best individual features, and does them all at the same time; faster, quieter, and sleeker :science::love: You guys really knocked it out of the park!!!
In review - 5 stars and 2 devil horns held high. *****:rockon: I am so STOKED to be a part of the first 50 Limited Edition crew!!! Cheers guys :leaf::cheers::leaf:

Now…BACK TO HERBALIZING

Morning folks! First morning Herbie session and it was pretty awesome. I started at med temp and with the whip to start (380) and it was extreme flavor with mild vapor production. Proceded to bump it up to 445 and put a bag on. Instant milky vapor on bag 1. While I sipped on that bag I put a few drops of rosemary oil onto the aromatherapy pad and closed the lid. Very relaxing to sip the bag while getting a gentle breeze of rosemary. Finished off with a second bag and got very light vapor. The experience was very smooth with no coughing at all. One thing about volcano bags that really turned me off from using them, is that they are very harsh on my lungs. Well not so with Herbie as the bags were silky smooth.

ABV comes out perfect coffee brown but I was howeve almost able to reach combustion with a very tightly packed bowl. I got some really dark ABV I'm thinking due to the reduced air flow. Loving my Herbie!

Six minutes and 30 seconds

Vitolo made a comment, some months back, about this vape's ability to spend a load very quickly. At that time, I stopped to consider what saving 25% of the time it took to medicate would be worth to me. In short, it went like this:

If I medicate x times per day, and this vape saves y minutes per application versus my solo, then during the course of a week/month/year, I have z more time available to do other things. And at 25% time savings for medication, I could justify the cost of this vaporizer.

This morning, I did a simple, non-rushing test. Half a bowl of blue dream (already ground), 2 bagfulls, clean up and return upstairs. I saved over 50% of the time it takes me to medicate compared to my Solo. Six and a half minutes, from walking downstairs to returning.

Time has different value to different people, so you're value may vary. For me, this is about spending more time with my lovely bride (of 13 years and still going strong), and that is priceless.

Edit: To clarify, these timings were performed with a single bag that was filled, used and then refilled. I could easily reduce this by 1 full minute just by using 2 physical bags.

I've been having great success with the aromatherapy function. If the oils are leaking down into the unit, try this: add a few drops of oil to the pad, then either hold it over the fan or drop it into the bowl and set the bowl in place, and give it just a couple seconds of heat with the fan. This should be enough to let the pad absorb the oil. Then you can put the pad into place for aromatherapy, close the lid, and you shouldn't have any leaks.

Welcome to FC Fine Grind ,
Good 1st post ,

I don't remember seeing that customized feature of messages .
That would be great if they can personalize each unit with
the new owner's preferred phrases ...or names even .

The pad is a convenience for using essential oil,
but it's really made to be used with dried (/fresh?) herbs for aromatherapy right?

Oils in the front. If used in the bowl, oils or concentrates (so says the Herbalizer youTube videos). I found good success with a small drop of deFunk on the pad in front. No drips & the aroma builds over time.

The sayings pop up when the lid is opened and are randomized. It is possible to get lost in opening & closing the lid to read all the sayings when medicated... ;)

If you want to use the essential oils on the pad and don't want to risk putting to much you can try this trick.

1.)Open the essential oil bottle,
2.)Put the pad over the top of the essential oil bottle
3.) Hold the bottle & pad between your thumb and pointer finger.
4.) Tip the bottle over for a second.

Sort of like how you might get rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball. This should only get a drop or two on the pad and prevent you from accidentally splashing to much oils out.

Just had my first session with Herbie. No regrets paying the $725. First impressions. Herbie works and works great. using a Sativa that has left me disappointed in the Cloud and Solo, has me feeling very uplifted, and clear headed. The high feels cleaner and present. I really like the whip, I couldn't stand it on the extreme Q, left me wanting....I feel like the fan assist actually does just that, Assist, I feel my lungs fill up with vapor, not just air. Heat up time is unbelievable. The Bags provide great Vapor, wasn't harsh on the throat. Really just dipped my toe in today. Very happy to be in this group and so impressed with the Herbalizer team. The packaging was professional and what you expect when you drop serious cash. My day has been made, The Herbie and Evo both have a permanent spot on my table.

Exactly what I did. It works quite well.

Those that have the Herbalizer, how would you characterize the sound of the fan when the Herbalizer is just maintaining temperature in vaportherapy mode without the fan assist?

The clam is a vampire, but overall a cheap date.

My scrypt miner needed a reboot today, so I took the opportunity to plug in a kill-a-watt. This is not a particularly sensitive instrument, and only samples once per second, but will give us an idea of power demands.

My unit draws between 1.0 and 1.1 watts on standby (off, but plugged in). That equates to about US $0.87 per year.

I wanted to measure the total power cost for a session, so I reset the kill-a-watt's counter and turned on the clam, filled 2 bags at 445F and shut it down. It drew a maximum of 278 watts and a minimum of 6.0 watts. The fans impact draw, but it's the lamp that really pulls. Total cost of power for the session was registered as US $0.00. So, power costs for a session are less than half a penny. Now, I have nothing to compare this too. A hair dryer can easily pull 1200 watts, so 278 seems pretty low to me (I expected more). Does anyone have an idea of what other vapes take to fill a couple of bags from start to finish

Next, I may reset the power counter and leave it plugged in for 24 hours for a better idea of cumulative costs.

Please note: These are very early units (we'll talk about that later), so yours may draw more or less power. Also, I used US $0.0099 as the kw/h rate for power.

Those that have the Herbalizer, how would you characterize the sound of the fan when the Herbalizer is just maintaining temperature in vaportherapy mode without the fan assist?

I noticed the internal temperature control fan the instant I turned it on.

But only because I wasn't accustomed to it. It's very quiet and is totally un-noticable after just a moment. If you listen for it, it's there, but it's not bothersome at all. I'm interested in how others describe it also.

It kind of leads me to suspect the internal component are particularly temperature sensitive or that the lamp leaks a lot of heat...
