The Extreme-Q Vaporizer

Dogdad that is my point exactly!

It's a very solid vape adding that 18F/18F adapter is only the modification I've done to mine and personally for me I feel everything else is fine with the unit.

Here is a quick tip. Try figuring out a way to attach the bag to the water pipe. Makes those higher temps less irritating.

Here is another quick tip that helps my consumption drop dramatically. I am vapor bonging out of my eq with a 14m on the end of the whip. I'll take a hit then exhale it into the bag. Once the bag is full I'll inhale the vapor in the bag through the bong. Two rounds of that and I'm done. Usually takes about ten minutes and half a bowl isn't even used.

Thanks for the tips. I had a similar idea to use the fan to fill the balloons then use a water pipe. GMTA!
(Great Minds Think Alike)

I haven't got that far on assembling the bag. I got so messed up last night, I couldn't feel my face to feed it the whip.

I did order the Infamous $40 no name knock off bubbler just yesterday, but I'm done with those higher temps. Vaping at 400 and I'm couch locked, and anything higher than that, I'm couch impaled.

Bags through waterpipe are great. Nice way to move your vaping around the house, too. Makes doing laundry or the dishes a pleasure! Bonus is the water keeps vapor from leaking out of the bag. Just leave it on there and hit it as you like.

Could you shoot me a link for that bubbler? Trying to improve my glass collection.

I'm right there with you on higher temps, but anytime you have friends that are smokers come to use the vape.

Set it to like 215c and you'll hear "this is the highest I've ever been!". At lower temps smokers tend to think they "aren't getting high" simply because they aren't used to a clear headed high. Those higher temps tend to take care of that.

I use higher temps when I'm recovering from intense workouts 205c helps me out a lot!

Sure. It's known as the Infamous $40.00 no name vapor brothers knock off. https://www.google.com/#q=Infamous+no+name+vapor+brothers+knock+off

I bought mine here: http://www.pipesdaddy.com/product-p/vp-0022.htm

I'm rethinking those higher temps, 400 just doesn't do it for aches and pains from workouts or anything else that hurts. I need to find a temp that is high enough to stop the pain but doesn't make me so high I can't function.

I ordered the SSV wand today and I'm still trying to find info on the ELB mod. I'm not sure which method I will like the best so I plan to try a few.

I've pulled a couple of bags now, changed my whip and my bubbler should be here tomorrow.

One of the things I want to test is using water from the bubbler to make my hot tea and honey. Not only am I vaping healthier by adding moisture, I'm creating an edible.

Good times.

I can't say I'm a bag fan yet but will give it a try again soon.

I wanted to share two things I found. One is another version of the DDave adapter. I can't tell from the photo, but it may be the one that gets the herb closest to the eq element yet. I have not ordered it but thought I would post it here. http://thehideawayonline.com/shop/wide-to-wide-female-to-female-adapter

The second thing I wanted to share is the size of the SSV wand tubing. http://www.ebay.com/itm/281229486080 (

The size that fits the wand is 3/8" ID x 1/2" OD x 1/16" Wall. The standard SSV tubing is said to work well and can be purchased here. http://silversurfervap.com/accessories/ssv-accessories-and-gear/replacement-hose-3ft.html

I was thinking about buying the black color tubing to hide the discoloration that will occur and use this tubing to go from the SSV wand to the bubbler.

I'm not sure that adapter will work. It looks a lot like the one that ALT sells, with the center "handle" a wider diameter than the joint. The ALT adapter will not clear the top opening, and therefore cannot sit on the heater. This one looks like it might do the same.

Re the SSV tubing: Personally, I would still use silicone. The SSV tubing is better than Arizer's stock PVC to be sure, but IIRC it was posted here that it is somewhat rubbery and not as easy to work with as silicone. The silicone many if not most here use, albeit 1/16" smaller, has sufficient elasticity to work with the SSV wand. YMMV.

That's a good point on the adapter. I'm not sure if it would work either. I also had a question about it heating as even as the ones we use now.

The tubing is a bigger deal that I thought it would be and especially using the Infamous bubbler. The Bubbler is so small it's easy to get knocked over when moving the wand end around. I have to disconnect both ends or else spill water everywhere to load one end.

I'm still waiting on the wand to see exactly what I need. But I don't see myself spending 30.00 for less than 3 feet of tubing.

I can say this, the DDave adapter, the elbow packed and my little Infamous will get me medicated in a hurry using very little herb and I think when the SSV wand arrives, that will allow me to use even less per session than the elbow pack.

I wanted precise control, high heat and efficiency in my next vape and I think with these mods, the EQ comes closer to delivering all three.

Hey DogDad,
I think oldiebutgoodie is correct in that adapter won't seat on the heater due to the center ring being slightly larger than the opening on the top of the EQ. I looked at a similar adapter prior to finding one that worked.

The Amazon silicone tubing many of us use is $1.25@ft. Comes in 25 ft lengths, which is more than one needs initially but on the other hand will probably last the life of the unit. Personally speaking, I don't like a dirty whip and reclaiming from the tubing isn't worth the effort to me so I've periodically replaced the whips. (I also shortened the whip to ~20"; less expense, easier to work with, and reduces drag a bit.)

Just get the 30 feet of silicone from amazon. It takes up so little space it's not a problem. I've used two 4 ft whips in 1 year and I just changed the first a month ago.

Your hot tea idea sounds great! I drink a shit ton of tea all the time and would love to get baked off it. So it's literally collecting the bong water heating it up and throwing a tea bag in there?

awesome! is 25 all they offer?

From Amazon, yes. IIRC you can get it in less quantity at McMaster-Carr or US Plastics but esp after the shipping you pay more per foot. (Check this yourself, my memory may be faulty and the last time I looked was quite a while ago.)

Hi guys ;) It's been a while ;)

After a few months I quit whip/bag for vong pair exclusivly. Now that I got everything set up I am starting to look at these mods you guys have been talking about :)

(http://www.ebay.com/itm/18MM-FEMALE...317?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a86e338c5 is this one ok?).

I see your wand+f/f combos and I keep thinking why is it so damn big :D?

First of all, isn't using f/f to move herb closer to the heater the same as turning up the temperature? I get thick bong hits only at 220-230 (usualy 230 C). I have low quality flowers though, 13% thc usually, autoflowers.

Then, is the wand really needed? With cyclone bowl I rarely have to stir. The wand seems thinner, I imagine the herb would require frequent shaking.. Am I right?

The way I see it: if I was to mod my EQ I'd get (to make it more compact) f/f adapter, then 18m/14f adapter for herb and another one 14m/14m to use with the tubing. This would require a bit bigger tubing, but overall the vape would be much smaller and the point of this mod stays the same.

Is it clear what I'm strugling to express in this beautifull, yet not my native language :)?

Just ordered - many thanks for the link! I'm moving to the frame of mind I'd rather toss smelly tube than trying to clean it more than once or twice... I'm worth it ;)

..but..

I noticed there's a gift wrap option for $5. Guess who's getting a late xmas gift from secret santa amazon? I spoil myself... :freak:

howdy folks.

I just ordered the extreme Q and can't wait for delivery. i'm retired and a med user so i pretty much toke or vape all day when I don't have to go anywhere. my poor old tired lungs couldn't handle the heat from my da Buddha, and toking through a whip, water and 21" ice bong was a lot of effort, so I decided to get something with a bag that wasn't $500 or so.

i was a respiratory therapist way back when, and I started wondering about how hard I was inhaling to get a hit off my bong, even the smaller 12" ice bong. I read some stuff about older, long time smokers, pulling or ripping something or other, while taking a big rip on a bong causing it to be painful to breath, like pleurisy. the thought of long time painful breaths was enough to make me hang up my bongs.

I got my first vape in the late 90s. it had a few test tubes and a heating unit. I wish I could remember the name of it. I'd like to see if the guy is still in business.

anyway, this thread was a big help in helping me decide what to buy. at $149.99, it's hard to beat.

happy new years folks.

Hi YetAnotherUsername,

At first glance, it would seem the only goal of the F/F adapter was to move the herbs closer to the heater, but that was only half of what I was seeking in changing out the stock Cyclone bowl. The other improvement I was looking for was in the air path itself. I was not fond of the ledge of the cyclone bowl, or that it was a straight through tube (if the ledge was ground away). I wanted more variance to the air flow so that a load of herbs was processed more completely. So with the F/F and a stock arizer elbow, got better performance.

Then, after a suggestion was posted by another FC member, I decided to test out the F/F with an SSV Wand. With this addition came ability to process a slightly larger load than with an elbow pack... but an unforseen benefit at the time = ease of use. With the wand, the herbs are surrounded by screens, so loading, unloading, and shaking during a session are now much simpler. The other benefit from switching to the wand over the elbow was less resistance when taking a draw.

Hope this helps! There's nothing at all wrong with the stock arizer setup, but for those seeking faster or stronger sessions, the mods seen throughout this thread can make the arizer into quite a performer!

I think I found another great delivery option for the EQ. All you need is a powered EQ, an ELB and a standard VXL mouthpiece.
1) Heat up the EQ with the mouthpiece on it (this need almost as low temps as inverse hitting: 180-210C)
2) Take down the mouthpiece and put a filled ELB on top of the heater cap down. Put the mouthpiece back on.
3) Take your hit. It is a very simple and short delivery, so you shouldn't pull too hard or it will be too hot for your lips/throat.
4) Still pulling, lift the mouthpiece and and let the ELB fall out on your table by stopping pulling. Repeat from 2)
Alt 4) If you have trouble getting your ELB up, you can as well just stop pulling, lift the mouthpiece while keeping the ELB on the heater, clear it and put in back.

The ELB will fly up like half an inch when you're pulling and fall back down when you stop.
Because of this, you can still pull after you disconnect the mouthpiece to cool the ELB down and clear the vapor from the mouthpiece.
And then stop pulling when the mothpiece is disconnected and the ELB will fall out on your table, so you can repeat.
when you disconnect the mothpiece, be extra careful not to burn yourself as the female joint on the mouthpiece is going to be blistering hot.
I like this new delivery and it is becoming the daily driver until the EVO arrives.
Even when I am able to use HTs, I like how this is almost as simple session as VXC.
Of course the EVO will bring back this simplicity to HTs while improving everything and less potential to burn yourself (I've already got a blister, clumsy me)

And here are just some temp ranges that work for me, just to demonstrate how every delivery method need different settings:

Inverse hitting: 175-205 °C
Mouthpiece ELB: 180-210 °C
Cyclone bowl: 190-220 °C
Elbow pack: 200-230 °C
Elbow ELB: 220-260 °C

What determined these temps? I think its mostly the distance from the heater, but also if the hot air first hits your herbs or some mesh screen.
If it first hits herbs, it typicaly need lower temps as the mesh smooths out the hot spot.
I found the VX ELB eing exceptionaly good at this. Redistributing the hot spot uniformaly even to the sides. When using an ELB, I don't really have to stir. Only when there is a large load, almost like a Cloud.

I ordered it late Friday. it got here at noon on Monday. I was shocked. Partially by the speed but also because I ordered it from a store and got the order from amazon. I guess they are hooked up somehow.

I fired it up for 15 mins at 200 degrees then loaded the cyclone and took down 2 bags. I know I should have let it heat up for awhile to burn off any factory stuff but I didn't think of that until I'd finished the 2nd bag. duh

I got a lot of vapor at 200. could barely see my hand on the other side. I like it. I'll have to take a drink after every hit though. It was pretty dry. :)

Things get pretty hot and i'll have to be careful. Even the tubing got a couple ticks up from warm. I have some tongs from my microscope that work just fine to handle the glass.

I was already high when it got here. I unroll the first bag and see that the thing isn't attached. so instead of thinking to check the other bag, I rigged up the mouthpiece to the bag. when filling, it leaked I did such a poor job of it. then I unrolled the other bag and lol.

I think I keep seeing that people just take off the elbow to the bag and just leave the pot sitting in the cyclone until ready for another hit. now I'm wondering if that is right. should I leave it in there at 200 plus degrees until I'm ready for another bag full?

oh, oh, I'm rambling. time to go read.

so far, so good.

Just a heads up, you can order silicone tubing from eBay by the foot. I got 5 ft for $12 the other day. Still about the same per foot, but will save you from ordering so much at once.
5/16" I.D. Silicone Tubing, Food-Grade Silicone Tubing, Sold by the Foot

Note that this is 9/16" OD rather than the stock 7/16" OD with 1/8" wall rather than 1/16" - in other words, thicker and heavier. Probably less elasticity, too.

I'm not saying that this is unsuitable (especially given that all the spec's aren't listed); it may very well be. However, IMO good to be aware of.

It is a bit thicker but much more elastic than stock. Slips on stock EXQ glass with no problems. Bought it Saturday, came this afternoon.

Here's another listing for the 7/16 od in case anyone is looking. 5/16" I.D. x 7/16" O.D. Silicone Tubing - High Temperature Hose (500F)
