Discontinued VM3 Portable

Progress

I just saw that there were no threads for this guy ( http://www.volatizer.com/html/vm3_unit.html ).

I tried it once and it seemed to work well (I think :hmm: ).

What ever happened to this little guy? How come no reviews?

Both the VM3 and the I-inhale seemed to work adequately (I think :hmm: ). Is the VM3 worth the extra money (it does have temp control  )?

If you have insight no one has yet stated, please feel free to chime in :D .

Toke it easy (if you have one ;) ).

I think the money scared most people away. The cost being around the Volcano price is a bit much for a portable imo.

500 bucks? Christ, what do they think us stoners are, made of money?

I'm sure it works fine... but I don't see any warranty (other than a '10 day 100% satisfaction guarantee' ) and for that price, you'd expect one. I think it looks ugly as sin though... :/

Dealers sell it for $450, and eBay sellers (at least one) will take $400. Vaporstore will sell it with the 'vapormovement' for 10% off. Nate at vapenow gives us FC members a discount too. Still twice the price of an Inhale.

The unit has received mixed reviews, some unjustly IMO. You can't expect big hits. It only holds .1g, vs. .5 for the I-inhale. Battery life could be an issue down the road. Doesn't seem to be user replaceable and replacement cost is a mystery. It apparently gets enough stealth buyers to stay on the market, but a 90 day warranty isn't much for a $400 digital device with a plastic shell. Here are some user reviews-

I've got one of these on the way and will let you know what I think of it, especially in comparison to my II.

Hi Stickstones,
Did you ever received the VM3?
How did it work for you?
Thanks,

Hi Jacopone. I did and have done everything but write the review on it. Thanks for reminding me that I hadn't posted anything here about it!

I will post more later as I put a review together, but bottom line is I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The only reason I can think of to get it is if you MUST have variable temp control in your portable unit. Bottom line is: it's twice as thick as the II, so it will max out any pocket you put it in; it gets too hot on the bottom right corner if you get the temp way up there; I regularly got a plastic taste with it and didn't get very thick vapor; it looks like an 80's walkman and costs a fortune.

I really like the design, though. They seem to have thought of everything, just didn't implement it very well. It has several failsafes to keep you from hurting yourself, comes with ten ceramic disks for quick loading, can be used with one hand and looks like a breathalizer thing. So I can think of some positives about it, but the bottom line is it's an old design that cost too much and doesn't give satisfying vapor hits. I FAR prefer the II and the LB to this thing.

how long do the batteries last per charge -- that is, how many power on/at temp minutes of use?

i would guess (based on size) about 10 minutes.

I never ran a charge dry in one night. The only time it died was when it sat for a few weeks unattended. You can use it while plugged into the wall if you run it dry.
