Arizer Solo

Does anyone know of anyone in the US who sells a non HE 14mm GonG for the solo? I don't have a problem with PV, I just hate to pay that much to ship a single glass adapter and figured if I could find one closer it would get here sooner. Thanks

Ok I thought I would throw my two cents in. I got my solo on Monday I have used it everyday since and I can say that I like it just as much if not a hair more then my og dv. All I have used with it so far are the stock stems so maybe if I got a nicer stem I might like it even better. I would also like to try it with a little bubbler but I don't have one right now

Given that PV makes (has them made) all the HE solo stuff... probably not. But LMK if you find a US retailer!

Pretty sure those are exclusive to PV, but hopefully someone corrects me. I, too, dislike the high shipping.

Edit: @Caligula beat me to it...

What about those Chillum PVHES stems? Anybody know if PV is going to mass manufacture and stock those or do you have to special order through them? Those are so fucking cool! I really want to buy a couple of those....

Last I checked, they don't have those plans. However you can have them do a custom order for one. One of our members @samirfuzzywuzzy has one, and has been torturing us with photos of his setup. I need to contact them myself and see if they can do a custom shorty pvhes chillum.

Edit: two people beat me to it.

Double edit: his solo pr0n pic is on page 852.

After forever I finally ordered a PVHES but I'm finding I like the opposite, stock stem with the PV oring. I'm getting some thick heavy vapor, my ears are imploding but I like it so far. Opinion subject to change.
Next I'll get a non HE shorty and maybe a gong to try water again. Haha its like a second honeymoon with my couple year old solo.

Thanks for the reply. I actually just contacted PV this morning and they said they are moving forward with the Chillums!! They plan to carry an assortment of types and colors. Look for them mid January. I imagine they'll stock both Regular PVHES as well as shorty version, however, I didn't ask about that. Anyway, more Solo toys coming soon boys and girls. Woo Hoo!!

Great news. I just sent them an email asking about custom chillums. I try to keep my custom glass in the same color scheme. We'll see if they'll still do custom pieces now that they're going to produce them en mass.

where can one see these solo chillums? im considering getting a gong adapter, even though the stock stems work just fine with glass, i dont like the little bumps on the PV gong stem. i suppose i could request one w/out the bumps, but would that cost more because it would be considered a custom order? i also like the look of the stealth stem... anyone here used that?

Yeah the stealth stem is actually my favorite for direct draw, or whip use.

And the bumps are there so it won't roll around. You might want to keep them.

thanks for the feedback! my stems stay in my solo when not in use so not really an issue for me. makes me wonder why they didnt put the bumps on the stealth adapter. glad they didnt though. the bumps arent a big deal really just think it would look nicer w/out. maybe i can get a gong stem with only 1 bump...?

ill probably just get the reg stealth adapter and reg gong stem. im excited about the stealth adapter. i would think it would also work with glass... not hands free, but similar to how the stock stems work.

My understanding of the 'bumps' (I'd call them more like spurs?) is they are there so you can lift the glass to vent the tool and 'clear the hit'. The tips stay cool. That's not something you're going to be doing with a stealth adapter inside a plastic cup so it makes sense to remove them (or rather not put them in) for this use? Likewise, the PVHES (again not intended for a WT) doesn't have them.

I bet you can get a custom one made most any way you want, all it takes is time and money?

if my stem is in my solo then i just pull the solo and the vent the tool. i dont see the benefit of removing the solo and stem by grabbing the stem itself and pulling. seems easier to just remove them by pulling the solo...? now if you were using the gong adapter as a smoking bowl then i see how the stem itself would need to be pulled.

regarding the stealth adapter... i dont plan on using it in a cup at all. simply using it in replacement of the stock stem. direct draw such as centizen suggested. i would think i could just insert the stealth adapter directly into the downstem of my water tool and get a seal sufficient enough. just like i do with the stock stem. 14mm joint of course.

that is actually why i have never bought a gong adapter yet. i didnt care about hands free so i thought the gong adapter would be a waste of money. why spend the money when the stock stems work just fine with glass? well now im thinking the hands free aspect of using the gong stem is appealing.

options are always nice.

thanks for the pic snappo! i see the chillum stem is essentially a worked stem.

I suggest getting a GonG instead of the Stealth, even if you plan on using it dry.
I was hitting my Solo straight from a HEGonG for a few weeks recently.
It worked great. Flavor City. I actually preffered it over the stock stem.
And IME they're MUCH easier to use with a water piece than a stock stem.

After a bit of playing with my Solo I wondered the following;
Does anyone else get a better effect when they hook it up to water? I just seem to get more vapour in general doing that. A lot more satisfying to me personally, so far. I have been using the stock stems for this (and the PVHE GonG for a while till it broke) and both stems seems to have given me a lot more vapour when pulled thru water. Also, 2clicker, I personally do notice a difference between the GonG and regular stem sealwise but it's very minimal. I mainly get it for stability/hands free use.

I guess we have another 'it depends' deal here? It depends on what you want. Some guys invert the Solo on the WT. Venting means the bowl has to be disconnected (in our case, stem), simply lifting the Solo off the stem doesn't do it. So, you have cool little blunt spikes you can use to help keep the stem with the Solo rather than still in the WT?

I get you want to use the stealth stem in a mode not intended, that's exactly the point. If it's going to be used as a normal stem (not a WT adapter) it makes sense it would be configured like the PVHES is (no spurs). In this case, thinking about the intended use of the maker gives us an insight?

For some reason, I still can't get as dense of a hit using the stock stems with the oring fitted into the solo. I still use the oring to ensure a snug fit, so recently I've been using my PVHES gong with a ecig mouthpiece to to direct dry hits. It is definitely a bit warm in vapor, but great clouds.

So just use the stock stem without the oring. Should hit how you want and be much cooler than the straight GonG.

Also just sent my poor solo back to PIU today for warranty replacement. I hate not having a flower vape.

Hey guys, I think my solo may have broken.

I charge it up to max, heat it up, and within 1 second of pulling, the device turns off.

It's quite odd, I can keep it on for as long as it stays on during the 12 min, but the second I start to pull it beeps and turns off.

Has my unit become defective? Anyone familiar with this situation?

i see what you mean. we are talking about different things here i believe. your saying when you remove the solo from the WT that the stem/bowl would stay behind in the joint of the WT...? and then the stem/bowl would need to be removed to "clear" the WT...? i assume that is what you meant because of how loose the stems can get w/out an oring or washer mod.

in my case, im using the high temp washer mod so when the stems are inserted into my solo, they arent going anywhere unless intentionally removed. the washer really holds the stem in place. very snug fit with a nice rubbery action when pulled out. so if ive got a gong stem in my solo and its on my WT then when i pull the solo off, the stem is coming with it still attached.

If the blocked airflow from the ring is crimping your style, why not do as I did and notch the ring to let air in and yet keep the grip. I started out with 3 or 4 notches on the ID but found better results taking the same size nibbles out of the bottom side of the rings. It lets air back in on top of the stem like the ring wasn't there......

Regards and Merry Christmas to all.
