FakeXhale Cloud (Unauthorized and Unsupported)

Does anybody knows if PayPal offers any kind of protection if you buy outside EBay.
I contacted him about another Cloud and he will sell it to me but not thru EBay.
Your buyer protection through paypal is the same for an e-bay transaction as it is for any other sale. Make sure the transaction truly is a sale, some folks try to get around fees by labeling the transaction a gift. If you do that you have no protection. If things go wrong with the sale, paypal will want you to try and work things out with the seller before they intercede. So don't bother opening a dispute until you've given the seller ample opportunities to make things right, you have 45 days after the sale to open a dispute.

Thank you for your reply,
I was on the phone wit a paypal representative when I read your response and I must say you are 100 per cent right.

I actually do! I had ordered them in anticipation of the cloud. However I dont see a way of making a top cap for the bowl. I thought The bowl is too small for my usage anyway and if I jam say a second bowl on top of it the load would be too small for me to notice vapor (Currently dont have access to high quality herbs)

Any ideas on making a cover that could be flat or even bulging outwards?
i just used a flat screen to cover the herb snug, but there is a DIY with the use of 2 EQ screens to make an elb. Sorry I can't seem to find it.

@darco, a mini-ELB made from two EQ dome screens is a pretty decent solution in absence of ELBs.
I will occasionally use the mini-ELB over the normal ones for 'dab style' hits. This is where you only use a small amount of medicine (the mini-ELB doesn't hold much anyway obviously) and high temps (I use max setting for those hits) on the Cloud to take one big, thick vapor rip.

Some folks think the 'dab method' is a killer of Clouds (due to the max temps used) so keep that in mind.
I am in the school of thought that thermal cycling is the bigger problem. Because of that, my Fakexhale is RARELY off. I turn the temp down if I am not going to use it for a while but I keep it on with WeMo.

Anyway, about the mini-ELBs with the EQ screens. Take one of the EQ dome screens and place it flat, rim side down on a table. Take something round about the size of the bottom of the screen (I used a Sharpie) and push the screen up into/inside it's rim so that it comes out the other side.
This should allow the modified EQ screen to work as a cap for the other EQ screen. But it won't stay on with the Cloud inverted unless you bend/shape/mold part of the bent screen back into a 'lip' that allows for a press fit into the bottom screen.

I took a few quick pics of mine to show you... it's not a elegant solution but it works :D

Damn you, party liquor
I received my fixed cloud in the mail yesterday. Just got home to check it out. It works! They fixed the same unit I sent them. Same serial number. All is aligned perfectly. They even threw in another glass mouthpiece even though he told me not to ship the glass back when I sent it in. Turn around time for the fix was 12 days. Getting ready to put it through its paces. Using an extreme q screen until my ELBs get here Monday. I ordered those like 3 weeks ago.

Update: Yep. It certainly works...:mmmm:

Just got my fixed cloud back today too and it's actually perfect! And they sent me a completely new one instead of changing out the outer shell and just checking the temps and the light for me like he said they were gonna do!! And I shipped it to them on Friday, they received it Monday and I received it back from them today already!!(Thursday) I'm impressed and very happy with my purchase!! Now, if only I didn't miss out on that VB Chandelier!! Lol.

Thanks a ton for the pix! Its people like you that make me like this place so much :D Will definitely try it today evening as I have 2 EQ screens

Interesting thought on fatigue caused due to thermal cycling, but isnt that a lot of waste of electricity?

Do you need to crank the cloud to its absolute max setting for the EQ bowls to work well? Can the cloud be kept at its highest setting for a while or is it to be used at that setting for a quick set of hits and reverted to a 'safer temperature' ?

No worries on the pics, glad to be of help as others have helped me. :)

Yes, it is a waste of electricity. I can't deny or defend that. I waste a lot of electricity. There are 4 PCs and 2 large plasmas and 2 A/Cs running in my house most of the time. :uhoh:

No, you don't need to crank the temp to max for the mini-ELB to work well. But, I'm a high temp, large thick hit type of guy so the mini-ELBs work best for me at max temp with fast, hard pull.

As for leaving the Cloud at high temps.... I can only speak of my very limited experience but mine is left on 2:00 most of the time. When I do turn it up to higher temps I am mindful not to let it stay at those temps too long (10-15min usually). But I just turn in back down to 2:00ish and back up when I need to and it only seems to take 2-3min or so to get back to high temp.

Remember though these are just my limited experiences... the experienced guys in the official Cloud thread would be happy to give you further advice.

Anyway, good luck with your mini-ELB making.
Have fun with your Cloud, trust me, you will lolol.

I can see why everyone buys WeMo's for this. I'm developing some kind of OCD thing with my FakeCloud, always worrying about resetting the power switch so it doesn't turn off.

Hey, didn't some of you get both a chandelier and a UFO or showerhead watertool from VB? I'd be interested in hearing about the UFO or showerhead water tools. I'm thinking a less restrictive HT/WT might be a nice compliment to my chandelier, and maybe my next addition to my set-up.

I think @Deadshort480 did ... I'd also like to know how it compares to the chandelier

I ordered a chandelier & a double showerhead. I got the chandelier a while ago, but just got the shipping notice on the double shower. It should show up next week. Maybe they haven't shipped many of the non chandeliers yet?

I'm no glass pro, but I'll give a comparison when the second one shows up.

We're here to fuck shit up.
I bought the Chandelier and Star Dome. In all honesty, I dig the Chandelier so much that I still haven't even tested out the Star Dome yet.

I do have a Showerhead tube, but it's from GBD. There are only 8 slits in the Showerhead, but I prefer it over the Chandelier. It has a bent neck and has more volume.

Happen to have a link for the GBD showerhead?

im surprised you guys who bought the fakexhale asked for another unit after you got DOAs. I finally got an email back from the seller with the return label, I think I learned my lesson, avoid crappy made Clouds and buy retail. I just sent mine back for a full refund instead, saving my money for an EVO now.

Mine works perfect. I'll purchase an Evo when this one dies, but there are rumors that these fakexhales have the heater wires secured better than the original cloud plus, which was the expected failure point. I'm hoping this is accurate.

I know mine faxeXhale is secured really nicely, it used some sore of blue material, probably an epoxy.
In this respect maybe we should call them the betterXhale Cloud +

When i bought this cloud, i had a friend who stated, watch you get the unit that works perfectly, and does't have any problems, turns out that friend was right. lol and my cloud has survived at least three drops from the table.

So I finally got elbs! I am getting great hits with the unit now compared to with the mini elbs ... maybe my unit doesn't get hot enough for mini elbs?

Anyway I've noticed that my chandelier tube doesn't seal around the glass on glass ... instead it seals arount the top of the elb and sits just off the ground glass joint. I noticed this with the mini elb also but hoped the actual elbs from vapexhale had a smaller lip ... no dice. The dry glass tube that came with the cloud + has a modified shorty glass joint that sits low on the bamboo joint and covers about 2/3 of the male joint with a bubble on top so the elb has clearance from the glass while the vb tube has a normal female joint.

The seal around the top of the elb and the chandelier is close to air tight so it still works ... guess I'm just ocd about my vapes.

Why would that surprise you? The majority of customers who purchased Clouds from this seller have received fully functioning units. Seems completely logical for someone to ask for a replacement if you are one of the unlucky few who's unit is defective upon arrival.

Also, as some have already stated it is believed the manufacturer has taken steps to actually improve upon the internal durability in these particular units in an effort to fix some of the problems associated with the previously manufactured Cloud models. Only time will tell for sure but it's actually possible these units may be more durable than previous "authentic" Clouds.

One last thing to note is that in this particular case, unfortunately you don't have the option to just "buy retail". For someone that is purchasing a unit to actually use now, and not in 3/4/5 months you basically had/have 3 options. Buy a used unit, buy new old stock for about $450, or buy one of these for ~ $100.

Well worth the hassle to send it back and receive a working unit for the price you're paying. That's just my opinion though, yours may be different.

My unit is also performing better now that I have proper ELBs. At first the mini ELB worked great but it gradually decreased in efficiency like others. No problems getting dark brown ABV and thick clouds once again!
