Which Lotus version do you own OF? Do you think the Solo performs better? And in what?

It's about a year old. It was a 'new version' at the time, I think there's been a later one (with a stir pin?).

Yes, I think Solo does better. I said as much, and meant it. I think Solo is much easier to get hits from and is almost impossible to over cook or worst still combust. I also think the Solo delivers 'cleaner' taste routinely.....glass you know. Head to head, I think Vapman does better, ever try one? VGs?

I also vape under lots of conditions, low light to afternoons in the garden. I find trying to control the heat in Lotus much harder to do under such variable conditions. Vapman and VG don't share that since I run them exclusively on timing and experience (and need only to see to 'aim' the fire, not monitor the heating process).

I think the average guy has a better chance of easily getting good performance with Solo. Like I said, my Lotus doesn't get much use, in fact it's on loan to a guy that wanted to try it out, he's not using is much either I'm told......should get it back I guess.

I can see where you are coming from since you still haven't tried the new version. I had about the same experiences with you when I first for my V1 Lotus and I sold it rather quickly and eventually settled with the Solo again... The new version nevertheless is another story altogether. Very forgiving if you do things right, more difficult to overcook if you are not looking for trouble, the taste is better than the Solo every time and lasts to the end and since the airflow is much better you can also get bigger and faster hits. Quite a few people so far have reports in line with mine, people that own the new Lotus and the Solo as well.
Solo will always be more fool proof since it's an auto vaporizer but a manual vape or a good desktop will outperform it everyday since it has a rather weak heater in comparison. As for comparisons with the VG and Vapman? My thoughts as well as many other fellow vaporists' are there at the Lotus thread. Not the proper place here. Most owners agree with me though... The Lotus does it better than them and there are people even putting the Cloud aside for it... That says a lot. Only people with old versions still have gripes with it.

Very true. This isn't the Lotus thread. It isn't good forum etiquette to promote a vape in a thread dedicated to another model.
Promoting??? I don't work for anyone! I have both vapes and I am doing comparisons like people do in every thread... Is a vaporizer's thread a place where only praising takes place? When did this begin?

Did anyone ask about the Lotus? I looked and didn't see anyone mention it until you posted that you preferred it. You've made 4 posts about it. I'd say that's enough to make your point. And yes you're promoting it. Someone reported you for doing just that. You don't have to profit in order to promote. You like the Lotus. That's clear. But we're not going to have an ongoing debate on the Lotus vs. the Solo, in the Solo thread, when nobody even brought up the Lotus. They're not even similar models, other than both being portable. Taste? Totally subjective and you could argue about it endlessly.

When did this begin?
If you mean this type of moderating in order to stay on topic, the answer is about 4-5 years ago. Here's the appropriate rule- Stay on topic. Please avoid derailing or side-tracking discussions. Since you were the one who brought up the Lotus, and have made your point, any further discussion of it will be considered derailing or side-tracking, and any further discussion of this rule interpretation would be violating another rule.

The key word is "were". If you want to compare these dissimilar models, start an Ask FC thread.

Anyone find flavor is adversely effected when using a PVHE gong straight as a stem?

Damn it, I have an issue. When I plugged my Solo in just now I noticed the idle and 7 lights will alternate blinking. So I unplugged the Solo and the idle light started flickering rapidly (and dimly). The reset trick (hold both buttons down when charging) didnt work.

Any ideas? @OF?

I'd suggest trying unplugging the battery and forcing a hard start. The soft boot (reset above) depends on the processor running more or less right to start with.....I'm not sure we have that?

I just did that. Didnt change anything. Should I have left the battery unplugged for a set amount of time? Or was there anything I needed to do other than unplugging the power source?

Also PA mode doesnt work, does the same thing as charging. Also I know I was at or near a full charge (1 use) when this happened.

Double bummer. Good question about time, I tested this 'hardware reset' early on, I found no time problem but I usually press a few keys as well...... Couldn't hurt to go a minute or so and push the buttons some to give it something to ponder if it's at all awake? We want it stopped cold when the power comes back.

The PA mode makes sense, it's still the same processor that's not working it seems?

Sorry to say it might be time to send it in......

Good luck, good show you have backup.

Okay, this is bugging me...I have a PVHES stem with the metal screen in it. I tried vaping some tobacco through it and now the smell pervades anything I vape now. I think most of the smell comes from bits trapped in the screen but I can't figure out how to get it out! If I don't have a nice long poker like the SSV wand, what can I use to get the screen out?

I'm sorry, so when you say fast sessions, you mean you can draw quickly on it? Or that the sessions are over quicker? And if the second, does that mean the PNP hits a bit harder than the Solo?

Both. I can draw more quickly on the PNP, and the sessions are over quicker because of that. In my experience the PNP will deliver more vapor faster than the Solo, but that doesn't necessarily mean it "hits harder". I can get much bigger "lungfuls" from the Solo, I guess because the vapor is cooler. With the PNP I have to cut the hit short because of the heat in the vapor.

FWIW - I use no water tools. I only hit the vapes dry.

Is it the straight or bent stem? I have successfully used a wooden chopstick with the end shaved down to a narrow point to poke the screen up so I can grab it with tweezers or a normal poker, hope that helps.

Have you tried a dental pick ?
or a needle ?

I don't have a dental pick and the needles I have are too frail. The screen seems locked in there. Only way I see it coming out is to poke it from the mouthpiece end, but I don't have anything that fits.

Get a safety pin and put a small hook in the end, nothing radical, a right angle turn is enough. Best if you heat it with a torch type lighter first, but even without it'll bend OK. You can even do a fair job tapping the tip on the side with the bowl of a spoon. When you get the tip bent, fish it through one of the holes near the edge, hook it to the side and pull up. Easy.

Then hold it by one edge with something (a use for old school roach clips.....) and torch it until it glows, brush it off and you're good to go.

Regards

I have both now, and my first use of the Lotus has me very impressed with vapor performance and ease of use. But I think we should forget the irrelevant question because, really, Solo Vs. Lotus = apples & oranges: different form factor; all convection or combo of conv./cond.; battery or flame; both used at max efficiency will send one to the moon! Sometimes it's not simply that you get there that matters most ...you know - take a bike ride (it's a nice day), leave the Corvette in the garage today. For those of us who are foot loose and fancy free, we aren't married to any one vape - now I have a girl on each arm and we're strollin down the street. Situation, mood, and choice still get you there for sure.

Because of trouble with my PVHES, I subb'ed back in the stock stem and I have to say - I'm enjoying the stock all over again! There's really no need for a super hard draw with the Solo so I don't mind it and plus, I'm rocking the curved stock stem, which I'm starting to prefer a bit over the straight. This might just be a variety thing, though, since my go-to PVHES is straight.

I had exactly the same thing happen to me last week. Resets didn't work. Battery seemed ok. I concluded it's a hardware/circuitry failure. Where and when did you buy it if I may ask? Batch number? I contacted Massdrop (where I bought it) and they're sending me a new one, no questions asked. Best of luck man. I can relate, bummed-out-wise.

EDIT: Ok I just realized who I'm speaking to. You actually liked several posts I did on the subject, so this is old news to you. Ok move along folks.. nothing to see here :D

I unfortunately broke my PVHE GonG already! :( Ordered 2 more from Vapefiend (and a WT and a couple of Jyarz). Now just hoping they will arrive before Xmas! I do doubt it but one can hope! Sorry to hear about your vapes breaking guys what would your batch number be if I may ask?
