What's The Most Portable Desktop Vaporizer?

Hey guys, after owning both the MFLB and the PAX for some time, I am looking to invest in a solid home unit. However, chances are that I will often be bringing this unit to other people's homes, and do not have the luxury of being able to leave it out in the open all day (roommates...). Ideally, my price range is <$250. I have no preference over bag, whip, or direct draw. My only specification is that it must be a relatively small, compact unit that is easy to move from point A to point B. Admittedly, I have not done too much research on desktop vapes, although I have had my eye on the Da Buddha for awhile. Any and all input is welcome, thanks!

I can't speak for other vapes but I take my Underdog (~$175-250) to my friend's houses regularly and it travels well. Only snag I've come across is the cord length. An extra 6 feet at least would be ideal for areas where outlets are scarce (this can also help lower heat, though moving the screen up or down also works).

It doesn't use a bag or whip, however, but rather a glass stem or a water pipe attachment. You can make a whip easily if that's your thing from silicone tubing sold on their website.

Both good suggestions. A log vape (such as the Underdog) first came to mind, then the LSV. Both also great vapes as I understand. The LSV makes sense if you were interested in Da Buddha as they both use same or similar heaters. A log will typically have a smaller load than the LSV. Both a log and LSV are designed to work direct draw or with water pieces. I think passing around a log or LSV is easier than sharing a whip.

But this is all conjuncture as I haven't used either. I am looking forward however to replacing my SSV with a log vape in order to lose the whip.

EDIT: Solo with PA also a great suggestion. Note that I just came across this relevant post just below this one:
Hi to everyone,

So after having my solo for a half year now i think i'm ready to get my 1st plug-in vaporizer.

Already have a PA for my Solo but it's not enough especially when i'm with friends and passing that vape around. After all it's still a portable vape. Which i had a lot of fun with the past year...
I think it'll be down to a choice between these 3: LSV, Underdog (or other log), Solo with PA.

Just to add to that... I haven't had issues sharing with my Solo (not in PA mode). Then again my friends dont have daily dab habits with tolerance of an elephant. Also this takes time obviously. Looking at a minimum 10 to 20 minute session depending on how many people, etc... with 4 people im looking at 30 minutes easy.

All great suggestions, thanks. I'm leaning towards a log vaporizer at this point. The LSV is a great recommendation but it's a bit large length-wise for my liking. How does the Underdog compare to the Pax or Solo as far as vapor production goes?

Not sure about the Pax, but I can speak highly of the Underdog's vapor production. Through a direct draw stem such as the glass stem it tends to yield pretty warm, but satisfying amounts of vapor. I can draw on it for a good few seconds and release big clouds (spinning the tube in your mouth as you pull seems to cut down on the heat).

I prefer the water attachment but I can't speak highly of the WonG (these are on their way out anyway but I have an 18mm piece so I chose that). It tends to combust which is why the 14 mm GonG one is better.

I agree that the LSV isn't really small or compact, and it's only travel friendly because it comes with a nice bag.

My vote would be for a Solo or a Log, check out the E-nano if you haven't yet... it's a 110v log vape with vary good temp control, warranty, and it's on sale.

The Pax is a non contender here. I haven't used an UD so I can't compare to the Solo.

All I can do, is say that the Solo gets it done for me (with amazing flavor) and I'm not exactly a light weight.

Main downside would be longer required session times over a desktop to achieve equal results (longer draws to get the same size clouds, longer to vape through a whole bowl, etc...)?

I can see clearly now the smoke is gone...
Log vape or the Vap2 would be my recommendations. The Vap2 is < 100$ and even comes with a car charger.

Edit: This is also a place where the VB 2.0 might shine. It is considered a port, but works plugged in and has an available car charger as well.

I wouldn't recommend the UD for your situation because of the long warm up times (might be better with a twig but Ionly have experience with the one I have). My initial thought was the HI because it is very small and heats up in 5 minutes, except the waitlist is well over 6 months (worth it if you have patience). either of those 2 logs will give you great hits, add a vvps and you can go from tiny wispy flavorful hits to massive lung busters. Any of the 7th floor vapes would work but only because they come with the bag. The solo is a great option but any of the above will give you thicker hits easier but that doesn't mean the solo won't satisfy, also if you plan to share with combusters the solo has no learning curve do you can just hand it off to them and they will be able to hit it. Another vape to consider is the HA, especially if your friends are clumsy. it is bigger than a log but smaller than a SSV and is nearly indestructible. you could easily throw it in a back pack and never have to worry about breaking anything unless it takes a really hard slam.

My suggestions would be the e-nano for a plug-in as it appears to be leaps and bounds better that most other logs out there and if you need uber portability you can always go for a Lotus+WA to use with bongs and bubblers. It can whitewall the biggest and baddest of them! :p

The HI is the smallest IMO, and heats fast. Only problem is there's a waiting line.

I Third the Vapolution 2. The car charger + optional battery pack, 10ft cord, pretty small and light plus easy to use with no grinding. Above all awesome taste and great hits. Ok it's my only desk top among a dozen portables but it has become my daily driver. My only regret is that I didn't pick one up sooner. :peace:

At $99 to your door how can you go wrong ?

From what I've read, all logs are going to give you similar results. So really, the HI, UD, etc. are all good choices.

It is true that the UD takes longer to warm up but it has yet to be an issue where I thought it would be one. If I'm going somewhere, I'll plug it in when I get there and by the time I'm ready so is my UD. In fact, I've gone from stone-cold UD to vaping in around 10 min even though 30 min was recommended. Or you could be one of those people who leave it plugged it in 24/7 which it is designed to do.

Ok, I'm pretty sold on a log vape at this point, but before I commit to one, I have a few questions.

1. How long do most log vapes take to heat up?

2. Are there any considerable draw backs to a log vape besides heat up time?

3. Is combustion a significant concern with a log vape?

4. How do log vapes fair in group sessions?

+1 for the E-Nano. Definitely check that thread out before you make a decision.

1. They are all a bit different, check their threads on here
2. Depends on who you ask. I love everything about them.
3. Depends on the model. Combustion has never been a problem for me. Only take a bit of care, know what you're doing. Not too hard at all.
4. Excellent. Whenever I vape with friends, I break out my log of choice.

I can only answer these for the Underdog.

1. I have the full size UD which apparently isn't offered anymore and that heats up in what seems to be no more than ~15 min.

2. Only drawbacks I've found are the 6 foot power adapter which can easily be remedied by buying an extension (will also lower heat), and the slight learning curve but that may have been due to my own stupidity (Didn't realize the screen was meant to face the heating element and you hold it sideways so none falls in).

3. I've only managed to combust through the WonG (wood on glass). You could theoretically combust in the glass stem but the screen would have to be very close to the heating element. I'd recommend the 14mm GonG.

4. It's excellent and would be even easier with the longer cord.

After much contemplation, I've decided that I'm going to purchase the e-nano. I still have yet to hammer out the specifics (where to buy, what accessories to buy, etc) but I am pretty confident in my decision. Thanks for all the help! I appreciate all the great feedback. Just in time for Christmas too :D. Sky guy out!
